Abstract: A flexible diffuser membrane is provided with a unique system of perforations arranged to result in uniform distribution of gas even though the membrane deflects to different extents or the submergence varies in different parts of the membrane. The perforations are arranged to provide less perforation area per unit of perforated membrane surface area in the membrane parts that deflect the most or are submerged least and greater perforation area in membrane parts that deflect the least or are submerged most. The perforations can be slits arranged in parallel rows on a tubular membrane, in concentric circles or another pattern on a disk membrane, or in still a different pattern on a flat panel diffuser membrane. The slit length or separation can be varied between different zones on the membrane surface or the spacing between rows or circles can be varied.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for a floor maintenance vehicle comprises a transaxle rear drive system and a powered front wheel steering system; and a joystick control system providing integrated control of the transaxle rear drive system and the powered steering system by controlling the traverse speed of the transaxle drive with respect to the steering angle such that the sharper the steering angle the lower the maximum traverse speed. A joystick control process for controlling a floor maintenance vehicle comprises receiving a turn signal to a steering control function from a joystick representing an operator desired turn angle, and outputting from the steering control function a turn angle signal; and receiving a speed signal to a traverse control function from a joystick representing an operator desired speed, and receiving the turn angle signal and outputting a transaxle speed control signal based on the speed signal and the turn angle signal.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for building a lagoon based advanced treatment system or upgrading an existing lagoon system for advanced treatment of wastewater. The lagoon is provided with a baffle to create a complete mix zone in which an aeration system and bioconcentration modules are installed. Biological solids are concentrated in the modules and drop through their open bottoms where the solids are recirculated and mixed by the aeration system. Once a biomass equilibrium is reached in the complete mix zone, excess solids are passed into the rest of the lagoon for standard treatment there. The complete mix zone is operated as a low rate activated sludge process with a detention time much less than for the rest of the lagoon, maintaining sufficient heat and sludge aging to effect complete biological nitrification and/or denitrification.
Abstract: An ironing board that folds in half to occupy only about one half its extended length to facilitate packaging and storage. An iron rest can be slid to latch the folded front and rear sections of the board. The board has front and rear legs allowing it to be set up on top of a table. The rear legs incorporate clamp mechanisms that allow the ironing board to be clamped onto a table edge so that clothing that is being pressed can hang freely from the edges of the ironing board without bunching up on the table top.
Abstract: The Dual Gas Facility stores natural gas in one or more man-made salt caverns typically located in a single salt dome or in bedded salt. The Dual Gas Facility can access different sources of natural gas. A first gas source is from a natural gas pipeline(s) and a second gas source is from LNG. Depending on economic conditions, supply conditions and other factors, the Dual Gas Facility can receive gas from the natural gas pipeline(s) and/or from LNG to fill the salt caverns. Of course, the LNG must be warmed before being stored in a salt cavern.
Abstract: An intra-oral cavity device for preventing contact between upper and lower teeth of an anesthetized patient. The device includes an elongate pillow that when gripped between the teeth of a patient, prevents contact between the teeth and/or gums and thereby prevents damage to the teeth and/or gums. The pillow may be made of a fibrous, porous and/or absorbent material. The device is adapted for single use and thus disposal after use by a patient. A method of the use of performing surgery using such a device is also provided.
Abstract: A shoe rack for mounting to an upright surface, or for hanging over a door, includes a pair of plastic, vertical side frame members and a plurality of shoe-retaining bars positioned between the side frame members upon which shoes, boxes and the like may be supported. A number of different embodiments are shown, each of which incorporates different features, including the feature of a loop projecting upwardly from each arm to provide a side barrier for retaining shoes on the rack. The loop has a configuration to provide an open space above the arm.

Abstract: A vest is provided that may be quickly and easily removed (cut away) from a wearer of the vest. The vest may include a waist belt, a cummerbund, and shoulder straps which may be easily released from the portion of the vest by the use of a flexible retainer in cooperation with a connector device to secure the waist belt, cummerbund and shoulder straps to the vest in a releasable manner. A cable portion of the retainer moves in a generally straight line except for accommodating curved portions of the body of the wearer. An accessory pouch may also be provided which uses a strap and loop arrangement on the vest and pouch to attach the accessory pouch to the vest.
Abstract: A phosphate ester-based functional fluid composition that generates reduced levels of carboxylic acid during use by incorporating at least one acid scavenger selected from the epoxides of the invention. The phosphate ester-based functional fluids are particularly useful as hydraulic fluids.

Abstract: A method device implementing a seamless user/service reservation network. A network is establishing having a user input module, an interface module and a vendor service module. The user input module accommodates different classes of potential users including golf reseller, an Internet based user and a dedicated function user. Regardless of the type of user input is targeted for, all user inputs accept the same input format and send all transactions via a bundled communication. The interface module comprises multiple servers designed to communicate with the user input module and the vendor service module and decode and process all bundled requests. Utilizing multi-thread processing, all transactions from either module are concurrently processed. The vendor service module incorporates multiple vendor systems running different software platforms.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for a meat cut classification and fat trimming for sensing the thickness of a layer of fat of a cut of meat and the various contours thereof as it travels along a conveyance and providing the fat thickness or classification information to a downstream system for performing a fat trimming operation. The meat cut classification system comprises a split/multi-belt conveyor having split/multi-belts proximately spaced apart extending in the same direction and having a uniform equidistant gap there between and said conveyor having a drive for conveying the meat cut through the classification system and a multi-probe mechanism assembly operable to position the probes between the multi-belts of the conveyor and extend the probes upward between the multi-belts to penetrate the meat cut for measuring the fat thickness.
Abstract: A neck seal for use in an emergency breathing apparatus has an interior and an exterior and is formed of an annular sheet of elastomeric material having a substantially central aperture for donning over a person's head. The substantially central aperture is sized appropriately for snug fitting around the person's neck so as to be sufficiently tight to prevent passage between the person's neck and the neck seal of fluid materials without choking the person. The neck seal is coated at least in part with parylene, to thereby prevent passage through the elastomeric material of NBC/CBR materials.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for selectively forming metal stud and track members from sheet material, the apparatus including a stud forming assembly capable of transforming the sheet material into a stud member as the material exits the stud forming assembly, and a track forming assembly capable of receiving the stud member as it exists the stud forming assembly and thereafter transforming the stud member into a track member. The track forming assembly is selectively moveable between an operative position wherein the track forming assembly is coupled to the stud forming assembly to receive the stud member as it exits the stud forming assembly, and an inoperative position wherein the track forming assembly is positioned such that it cannot receive the stud member as it exits the stud forming assembly. The apparatus may also include punch and shear mechanisms for performing various operations on the sheet material.
Abstract: A valve for regulating fluid flow and associated method of use. The valve includes a stepper motor, a first valve portion having an inlet port for receiving fluid into the valve, a second valve portion having an outlet port for dispensing fluid from the valve, a third valve portion located between the first valve portion and the second valve portion, a first member that is rotatable and operatively attached to the stepper motor, and a second member, having a first portion and a second portion, which engages the first member for linear movement of the second member between a first position and a second position when the first member is rotated by the stepper motor to block fluid flow when the second member is located in the first position and allow fluid flow when the second member is located in the second position.
