Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing poultry tenders from at least partial poultry carcasses. The apparatus and method preferably employ an elongate pair of stationary blades through which the carcasses are conducted prior to being processed by at least a pair of plows positioned on apposite sides of the keels of the carcasses. The edges of the elongate blades are spaced apart and inclined such that the blade edges receive the keels therebetween and guide the carcasses in their path of travel while cutting into the carcasses along each side of the keels.

  • Patent number: 6891961
Abstract: The invention is an image analysis system and method for grading of meat, predicting quality of meat and/or predicting meat yield of an animal. One embodiment of the invention is particularly designed to capture an image of the 12th rib cross section of the ribeye and perform an image analysis of the ribeye for grading purposes. The image capturing camera portion of the system has a wedged shaped camera housing for ease of insertion into the ribbed incision. The image capturing portion of the system further comprises a camera with a flash for consistent lighting. The camera is positioned such that it views the ribeye cross section at an angle to accommodate the wedge shape of the camera housing for ease of insertion in the incision. The camera housing also has various alignment means to facilitate the user's ability to capture images in a consistent manner.

  • Patent number: 6884405
Abstract: A fullerene/nanotubes mixture is produced during a periodical pulsed auto-regulated action of the electric current arc-discharge in the multi-component hydrocarbon medium with limited fullerenes' solubility, besides, the action is continued until the medium dissolves C60. Higher fullerenes absorbed by the ultra-thin graphite particles are separated from C60 dissolved in the liquid medium by sedimentation, whereas the carbon nanotubes are separated from the ultra-thin graphite particles by treating with a boiling concentrated HN03 acid and by low speed centrifuging/acid mixture until the black sediment of the ultra-thin graphite particles is precipitated to the bottom. The periodically pulsed auto-regulated regime of the electric-current arc-discharge is performed by contact breaking an electric circuit due to lifting spherical contactors by gaseous products released during the action and by switching the circuit due to the contacts' going down under action of gravity.

  • Patent number: 6880348
Abstract: Stranded natural gas is sometimes liquefied and sent to other countries that can use the gas in a transport ship. Conventional receiving terminals use large cryogenic storage tanks to hold the liquefied natural gas (LNG) after it has been offloaded from the ship. The present invention eliminates the need for the conventional cryogenic storage tanks and instead uses uncompensated salt caverns to store the product. The present invention can use a special heat exchanger, referred to as a Bishop Process heat exchanger, to warm the LNG prior to storage in the salt caverns or the invention can use conventional vaporizing systems some of which may be reinforced and strengthened to accommodate higher operating pressures. In one embodiment, the LNG is pumped to higher pressures and converted to dense phase natural gas prior to being transferred into the heat exchanger and the uncompensated salt caverns.

The second layer can include cellulose material, spunbond, nonwoven fabric, and a thermal bond, nonwoven fabric. Attachment of the first layer of material to the at least one second layer of material can occur through thermobonding, e.g., heated gas, infrared heat and heated calender rolls. The application of adhesives and the use of ultrasonic energy can also bond the layers together. Approximately five percent (5%) to fifty percent (50%) of the first component can be selectively melted for superior airflow.
