    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a mailbox brace which includes a horizontal planar shelf upon which an end portion of the mail box rests, an inverted U-shaped strap overlying the mail box above the shelf portion and fastened to the shelf by means of outwardly turned horizontal flanges through nuts and bolts, a vertical plate joined to the shelf at respective edges thereof so that a substantially L-shaped bracket in cross section is formed, in which the vertical plate is affixed to a support post by means of screws, or by means of a horseshoe clamp which straddles the post and the vertical plate having an aperture plate disposed on a face of the vertical plate opposite the post so that the horseshoe clamp termini pass therethrough. The termini are threaded and suitable nuts are provided for affixing the horseshoe clamp in a secure manner.

    Abstract: An adapter that converts any normal chainsaw into a winching type towing machine for use by hunters who fell large game such as elk or deer, and must haul their fallen prey over rugged and remote terrain. The adapter replaces a chainsaw chain and guide bar, and bolts into the same position. The adapter comprises a drive chain and housing with a cable guide bar in the front and a tow bar in the rear. The housing contains a drive sprocket connected to a cable drum via a transmission that engages or disengages the drive train. An automatic braking system prevents the cable drum from paying out cable when under a load which may occur when the chainsaw motor is idling and a centrifugal clutch has disengaged the drive power. The adapter folds up into a compact unit capable of being transported anywhere. Additionally, the invention is not limited to use by hunters, but may be used whenever a motorized winching operation is called for.

    Abstract: An attachment for single strand and multi-strand stringing blocks used during the stringing of high tension electrical wires between electrical suspension towers. Since electrical towers are not all disposed in a linear array an angled pull has a tendency to cause a lead cable to jump out of a groove in a pulley sheave on the stringing block. When in a first position roller guides on a stringing block attachment engage the lead cable and prevent it from sliding out of the groove in the pulley sheave. In a second position the rollers are retracted so they will not engage the conductor wire which follows immediately behind the lead cable. Support arms for the rollers are rotatably attached to the framework of the attachment which is mounted on the carriage of the stringing block.

    Abstract: A water saver for the water closet of a flush toilet, which allows the operator to vary the amount of water being used according to the requirements of the situation. A lever on the exterior of the water closet controls the egress of water from a separate secondary reservoir contained within the water closet. Varying the position of the lever varies the amount of water which escapes from a trap door on the secondary reservoir attached to the lever. When very little water is required for the flushing process the secondary reservoir remains undisturbed. However, if the entire amount of water contained within the water closet is required then the secondary reservoir will empty completely because of the position of the control lever. The amount of water that escapes from the secondary reservoir, which varies from all to none, is determined by the position of the trap door in relation to the walls of the reservoir, which varies the effective volume of the reservoir.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for feeding single sheets from a stack of paper stored in a magazine to the platen of an office machine. The apparatus is capable of being mounted on the office machine, the drive of a separate-feed roller frictionally engaging the stack of paper being effected by means of the platen in such a manner that when the platen is rotated counter to the direction in which the paper is inserted, the separate-feed roller is driven in the direction of paper insertion. In order to prevent the separate-feed roller from hindering paper insertion by the platen, the magazine pivotally engages a control cam. The control cam is driven by the platen in such a manner that it pivots the magazine against the separate-feed roller when the platen is rotated counter to the direction of paper insertion; when the platen is rotated in the direction of paper insertion, the control cam pivots the magazine away from contact with the separate-feed roller.

    Abstract: A method for determining the neutral axis of a foot or the like, as well as an apparatus therefore. The neutral axis can be conveniently defined as the orientation of the subtalar joint wherein its relationship to adjacent bones is such that there is no movement in that area. Consequently no loading is transferred to adjacent areas. The method includes placing a level indicator on the sinus tarsi portion of the foot and rotating the foot relative to the vertical axis defined by the leg until the indicator on the level is centered, indicative of the neutral position. The level structure includes a hinged wing attached at one extremity to the indicator and a tether so that in the preferred form the level indicator is disposed in substantially a horizontal plane. Disposition of the indicator on the patella is also contemplated as being a part of this invention for orienting the foot when it is covered by a boot or the like.
