Abstract: An apparatus for restricting the velocity of movement of the piston of a servo-controlled operating hydraulic unit, when the piston approaches at least its one end position in the cylinder, by means of a hydraulic sensor fixedly mounted on one of the machine parts which is shifted with respect to each other by means of the operating hydraulic unit, and is coupled by the intermediary of a non-return valve to the servo-circuit. When the piston of the operating hydraulic unit approaches its end position in the cylinder, the hydraulic sensor is actuated by the second of the above-mentioned machine parts, whereby a pressure is established in the cylinder of the hydraulic sensor which exceeds the servo-pressure. A valve senses the pressure difference between the servo-pressure and the pressure established by means of the hydraulic sensor and throttles the servo-flow to the main valve of the operating hydraulic unit the main valve thereby throttling the pressure medium supply to the operating hydraulic unit.

Abstract: A support for a utility box such as a valve box or the like which includes an annular member having a central opening with an upstanding flange on the upper surface of the annular member adjacent the central opening. The annular member is buried in the ground in underlying supporting engagement with a box so as to prevent sinking of the box into the ground under heavy traffic load, said box provides access to the buried utility the upper end of the box opening into the street.

Abstract: The security device of the present invention is mounted in the floor of a building adjacent the hinge side of a door to be made secure. The security device has elements which can be elevated from their storage position to engage against the inner face of the door to prevent the door from being opened beyond a minimum amount. A lock is provided for holding the elements in their elevated position.

Abstract: A heater for heating the coolant in a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine including concentrically arranged inner and outer casings defining a water chamber which communicates with the water in the engine block together with a coil in the interior of the inner casing having one end communicating with the water chamber and one end with the engine block so that fluid in the coil heated by hot gases from a propane gas burner provides circulation of heated water through the water chamber and engine block maintaining the block in a heated condition for easy starting.

Abstract: An attachment for a harvester for picking up and combining downed corn stalks or the like in which the harvester is of the type having a plurality of inner dividers and two outer dividers, all with tapered snouts between which throats are provided defining entrances to the combine for upright rows of corn to pass therethrough. The device includes rollers carried on a top surface of the outer dividers and a plurality of chains having flexible outwardly extending fingers carried on the chain and driven, these chains being disposed on the top surface of the inner dividers and a driving arrangement which simultaneously drives both the rollers and chains so that corn stalks or similar articles which are downed or bent over can engage these rollers and chains and be lifted upwardly and directed to the corn stalk throat entrance of the combine for further processing.

Abstract: An anti-eating face mask which includes a cup-shaped member conforming to the shape of the mouth and chin area of the user, together with a hoop member and straps detachably engageable with a user's head for mounting the cup-shaped member in overlying relationship with the user's mouth and chin area under the nose thereby preventing the ingestion of food by the user.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an improvement in a variable venturi carburetor for an internal combustion engine which comprises a venturi portion, a float chamber, a main fuel passage communicating with the venturi portion and with the float chamber, a main jet provided in the main fuel passage and a movable metering needle of which free end is adapted to control the size of the main jet and the base portion thereof is mounted to a suction piston adapted to transversely move with respect to the venturi portion in response to the condition of load on the internal combustion engine. The improvement includes provision of a fuel bypass which detours the main jet for supplying part of fuel to the venturi portion. The fuel bypass communicates with the atmosphere through one or more throttles.

Abstract: An anti-jackknifing control device for a tractor-trailer which includes a fifth wheel having a pair of oppositely disposed pneumatically operated cylinder-piston assemblies, the pistons of which are insertable into arcuate slots in a bottom plate on the trailer so as to limit the turning movement of the tractor relative to the trailer to a predetermined angle in either direction from a centerline corresponding to a longitudinally aligned position of the tractor-trailer together with an alarm in the driver's cab actuted by a limit switch in each of the slots which is closed by the bottom plate at a turning angle in either directon intermediate the centerline and predetermined angle.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a unique tool chest which combines the convenience of pegboard display with the mobility and security of a locking tool chest. A slideably disposed pegboard is contained within the tool chest and mounted on rails. A winch with a cable is located on the exterior of the tool chest and works in conjunction with the pegboard so that when the top lid of the tool chest is opened and the winch is cranked, the pegboard will extend upwardly out of the top of the tool chest and lock in the desired position. Thus easy access is provided to the tools hung upon pegs on either side of the pegboard. Doors located on the front and the rear of the tool chest allow access from either side. The entire tool chest sits upon a foundation piece provided with casters for easy mobility.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an illuminated skate such as a skateboard, a roller skate or the like including a person carrying platform under which is provided a pair of axles supported from the platform upon which in rolling engagement is provided wheels thereon. Further, a source of power is disposed on the bottom surface of the person carrying platform which is operatively connected to a light source in such a manner that the underside of the skate is illuminated, and in particular, the wheels being formed of translucent material are capable of transmitting the light generated by the source along outer faces thereof.

Abstract: Provided herein is a fishing pole holder which includes an elongated support member adapted to be disposed in an upstanding position on a supporting surface which has a tubular member for accommodating the handle of the fishing pole. The tubular member is pivotally mounted at one end on the support member for movement in an angular path between a rest position and an operative position by the pulling action of a fish caught on the pole. The tubular member is limited in the amount of pivotal movement by means of the stop element and the system includes a spring, an alarm all of which indicates presence of a fish on the fishing pole.

Abstract: An article of footwear and process for making same in which upper portions of a shoe are fastened to a synthetic sole by placing portions of the upper through slots on the outer periphery of the sole turning same under, and fastening same by coaction of an undersole to the sole; the uppers fastened by means of studs which traverse therethrough to blind holes disposed on opposed faces of the sole and undersole.

Abstract: A television editing system includes devices which respond to the absence of picture information in a video signal for at least a predetermined period of time, a prelude to the start of a commercial message, and disable or reduce the audio output from a television set or the like for a given period. A microphone is arranged to receive an external audio recall signal, which could be produced by a user clapping his hands. This received signal is processed and used to recall the audio output within the given period. A circuit, responsive to received video signals over a period during which several commercial messages may appear, automatically sets the sensitivity of the editing system.

Abstract: A portable exercise device used in pairs for performing various exercises such as pushups, handstands and the like which includes a metal tube having a central portion and a pair of substantially identical U-shaped portions on opposite sides of the central portion which are bent into an angularly disposed relationship to define three sides in a triangular configuration with the central and U-shaped portions providing handgrip areas covered with anti-slip material so that each of the sides are adapted for overlying engagement with a supporting surface to selectively position one of the handgrip areas in an elevated position for gripping by the hand of a user.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for separating particulate matter from a fluid which includes an inlet conduit which carries the matter and fluid into a separation chamber defined by a substantially spherical dome having separable upper and lower portions and a flattened bottom surface within which is contained a plurality of baffles suitably oriented within the chamber so that the particulate matter and fluid entering within the chamber is caused to go through a tortuous path, the particulate matter experiencing deceleration due to the increased volume within the chamber relative to the conduit, and a liquid reservoir along the bottom edge portion of the chamber for entraining the matter there within, so that fluid can be allowed to leave the chamber while a discreet level of liquid is maintained and controlled within the chamber itself.
