Abstract: A method and apparatus for user activity-based dynamic power management and policy creation for mobile platforms are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the monitoring of one or more sensor values of a mobile platform device to gather sensor activity data. Once the sensor activity data is gathered, the user state may be predicted according to the gathered user activity and an updated user state model. In one embodiment, the user state model is updated according to the sensor activity data. In one embodiment, a switch occurs from the present power management policy to a new power management policy if the new user state differs from a present user state by a predetermined amount. In one embodiment, at least one time-out parameter of a selected power management policy may be adjusted to comply with a predicted user state. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A method and system for creating and deploying a mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises providing a mesh router having a plurality of radios. The mesh router is used in a cell of a plurality of cells that covers a geographic region. Channels are assigned to the plurality of radios. The channels are selected from a plurality of channels to allow channel reuse throughout the plurality of cells.

Abstract: Channel quality indexing and reverse indexing is described. In one example, a quality value for subbands of a radio communications system are measured. An index for each quality measurement is then determined and a combinatorial index is generated to reflect the indices and the selected subbands. The combinatorial index is then sent to a radio station using a radio communications channel.

Abstract: A channel strained multi-gate transistor with low parasitic resistance and method of manufacturing the same. A gate stack may be formed over a semiconductor fin having a gate-coupled sidewall height (Hsi), an etch rate controlling dopant may be implanted into a source/drain region of the semiconductor fin adjacent to the gate stack and into a source/drain extension region of the semiconductor fin. The doped fin region may be etched to remove a thickness of the semiconductor fin equal to at least Hsi proximate a channel region and form a source/drain extension undercut. A material may be grown on the exposed semiconductor substrate to form a regrown source/drain fin region filling the source/drain extension undercut region.

Abstract: A controller is described that includes wiring to transport notification that a FIFO that holds data to be used to display content on a display has reached a threshold. The controller also includes first control circuitry to turn on a phase locked loop (PLL) circuit to cause logic circuitry within the controller downstream from the PLL to begin to receive a first clock in response to the notification. The logic circuitry is to transport data read from a memory toward the FIFO. The controller also includes second control circuitry to cause the memory to use a second clock provided by the controller in response to the notification.

Abstract: A color pixel array includes a plurality of micropixels. Each micropixel includes a photosensitive element and a color filter optically aligned with the photosensitive element to filter incident light prior to reaching the photosensitive element. The micropixels are organized into a repeating pattern of triangular macropixels each having a triangular shape within the color pixel array.

Abstract: An electronic communications receiver includes a derived clock signal circuit operable to receive a data signal and to derive a derived clock signal from the received data signal. A separate forwarded clock signal circuit is further operable to receive a forwarded clock signal, and a clock management circuit is operable to receive signals from the derived clock signal circuit and the forwarded clock signal circuit, and to output an output clock signal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for security risk-based admission control. In one embodiment, the method comprises: receiving a request from the user device to access the network; determining whether to admit the user device based on a security-based admission control policy that admits user devices based on a constraint optimization that attempts to maximize the sum utility of the currently admitted user devices in view of a security assessment of the user device and security risk imposed on the network and already admitted user devices if the user device is admitted to the network, wherein the constraint optimization is based on a utility associated with admitting the user device to the network, a reputation value associated with the user device, and a botnet damage estimation on the network associated with the user device; and admitting the user device to the network based on results of determining whether to admit the user device.

Abstract: The bag opening assembly (8) of an automatic bag loader includes a pair of contra-rotating air-pervious endless belts (9, 10). Opposing pinch portions (24, 25) of the belts are provided for grasping opposing sides (5a, 5b) of the hag (1) therebetween and working flights of each belt are opposingly orientated and diverge from the pinch portions. A partial vacuum is drawn in a space (41, 42) adjacent each working flight (38, 39), formed in a shoe (36, 37) which supports the thereby separate the sides to open the bag while it is advanced between the diverging working flights. At least on of the rotary members (26, 27) is displaceable and an actuator (40) is connected thereto to press the pinch portions together to grasp the sides of the unopened bag and to separate the pinch portions to release the opened bag.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a method performed in a media access control (MAC) forwarding control module within a network element for looking up a MAC address and interface (I/F) identifier pair (MAC-I/F pair) from a MAC forwarding data structure that comprises a first tier data structure and a plurality of second tier data structures. The MAC forwarding data structure utilizes compressed keys to index each of the plurality second tier data structures. The compressed key is generated with a desired MAC address and a mask bit list that corresponds with enough bit positions such that all MAC addresses in second tier data structure can be uniquely addressed with just the values of each MAC address in the bit positions listed. As such, the MAC forwarding data structure is constructed so that the total cost of a lookup with the compressed key technique is deterministic and, therefore, O(1).

Abstract: Processor-implemented methods and systems for polyphonic note detection are disclosed. The method includes converting a portion of a polyphonic audio signal from a time domain to a frequency domain. The method includes detecting a fundamental frequency peak in the frequency domain. The method then detects a defined number of integer-interval harmonic partials. If a defined number of integer-interval harmonic partials relative to the fundamental frequency peak are detected the fundamental frequency is recorded as a detected note. This process is repeated for each fundamental frequency until each note in the polyphonic audio signal has been detected. For example, this method allows detection of each note in a strummed guitar chord to provide feedback on the tuning of each string in a strummed chord or allows detection and feedback of the timing and pitch errors for guitar chords played along with a reference track.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a benzocarbazole-intercalated layered double hydroxides (LDHs) composite luminescent material and its preparation method. The detailed procedure comprises preparing divalent and trivalent metal cation solution A and glycol solution B of sodium 2-hydroxy benzo[a]carbazole-3-carboxylate, mixing the solutions A and B to obtain solution C, slowly adding the prepared NaOH solution dropwise into the solution C, regulating pH of the resultant after dropwise addition to obtain slurry D, allowing the slurry D to react under water bath or microwave temperature-controlled heating condition, centrifuging and washing the obtained product, and drying in vacuum to obtain 2-hydroxy benzo[a]carbazole-3-carboxylate anion intercalated LDHs composite material.

Abstract: A method for accessing a hybrid network including a wide area network and a distributed network, a gateway apparatus, a wireless terminal and a gateway communication system are disclosed for reducing the power consumption of the wireless terminal which is an access gateway. The method comprises: sensing by a gateway apparatus a relay request slot on a downlink common control channel of the wide area network; transmitting by a wireless terminal a relay request signal requesting to relay a data packet to be transmitted, in the relay request slot on the downlink common control channel; and if the relay request signal from the wireless terminal is sensed in the relay request slot, establishing by the gateway apparatus a connection with the wireless terminal in a distributed network environment.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a storage medium comprises an encrypted content, key management information which is updated whenever necessary and includes a media key block including encrypted media keys obtained by encrypting a media key which is a base of an authentication key used for mutual authentication with another apparatus by using different device keys, and first and second application keys which encrypt the title keys for each application of the content and are alternately updated and encrypted when the key management information is updated.

Abstract: A method and system to delegate an authority to access collaborative resources are provided. The system enables a participant to re-delegate the authority to another participant by an authorization certificate. A chain of the authorization certificate is established along with the re-delegation of the authority from one participant to another. The participant requesting access to the collaborative resources is requested to provide the owner with the chain of authorization certificate for verification. Therefore, the re-delegation process may be performed without the need to notify the owner and yet without comprising the security of the collaborative resources. In addition, the system provides for restricting the participant from accessing the collaborative resources. Consequently, though the participant may not have access to the collaborative resources, he is still able to re-delegate the authority to another participant.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a memory integrated circuit is provided including a memory array, a register, and control logic coupled to the register. The memory array in the memory integrated circuit stores data. The register includes one or more bit storage circuits to store one or more identity bits of an identity value. The control logic provides independent sub-channel memory access into the memory integrated circuit in response to the one or more identity bits stored in the register.

Abstract: A selection of a category of interest and location information is used to determine categorical information that is provided to a device. In some implementations, the device includes a touch-sensitive display and presents the categorical information on a map using an indicator. In some implementations, the categorical information can be shared and/or updated by others.
