Abstract: An oversampling converter includes first and second integrators for integrating a difference between an input terminal voltage and feedback voltages, first and second quantizers for quantizing outputs from the first and second integrators, respectively, first and second feedback paths for feeding back as the feedback voltages outputs from the first quantizer to the input sides of the first and second integrators, a differentiator arranged at an output side of the second quantizer, an adder for adding an output from the differentiator and the output from the first quantizer, and a circuit for supplying an output from the first integrator to an input terminal of the second integrator. Two or more quantization loops may be used. When the oversampling converter is used as an A/D converter, A/D converters are arranged in the first and second feedback paths.

Abstract: In a control device for a power steering apparatus of which steering force is controlled on the basis of a control signal produced in accordance with a vehicle speed signal, the control device comprises means which outputs an engine rotation speed signal corresponding to an engine rotation speed, change relaxation means for relaxing changes in the engine rotation speed signal, and a switchover circuit which outputs an output signal of the change relaxation means instead of the vehicle speed signal when the vehicle speed signal is lost. Accordingly, even if a vehicle speed sensor is out of order for any reason, the power steering is carried out by the engine rotation speed signal, resulting small change of the steering force. Thus, this can protect the vehicle driver from dangerous conditions.
Abstract: First and second dielectric multilayer film filters are disposed along a straight optical axis and inclined about 45.degree. with respect thereto. The second filter is rotated about the optical axis by a predetermined angle with respect to the first filter so as to divide a path of light incident upon or emitting from the first filter into a first path of light transmitting through the first and second filters, and a second path of light reflected by the first filter. The second path is orthogonal to the first path. The apparatus is used for separating or synthesizing light signals.
Abstract: Snubbers and methods and apparatus for the in-place testing thereof are disclosed. The snubbers include a manifold between the hydraulic cylinder and each of the two control valves fastened thereto whereby for test purposes the control valves and hydraulic cylinder may be isolated from each other and coupled to a test machine for the independent testing thereof. Isolation of the control valves from the hydraulic cylinder allows separate testing of the control valves for lockup and bleed, and isolation of the hydraulic cylinder allows the testing of the cylinder for leakage and breakaway. Various embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparation of an outer cover of a fusion roller for a xerographic machine, this cover being constituted by a homogeneous layer covering a hollow metal core receiving heating means.According to the invention, this method comprises the steps of (a) cold kneading a mixture having, for 100 parts of fluorine-containing rubber, 55 to 60 parts of carbon black, 2 to 6 parts of magnesium oxide, 4 to 8 parts of calcium hydroxyde and 0 to 2 parts of polyethylene wax; (b) forming the covering material by extrusion or calendering of this mixture; (c) application of this material in a homogeneous layer to the surface of the metallic core of the roller; (d) vulvanization at elevated temperature and under pressure of the material thus applied to the core; (e) dressing of the cover to a constant thickness.

Abstract: MOS process for forming field-effect devices in self-alignment with a buried oxide region. Oxygen is implanted in alignment with masking members after gates have been defined from the masking members. The masking members block the oxygen implantation and thus the channel regions of subsequently formed transistors are self-aligned with openings in the buried oxide layer.

Abstract: A dynamic random access memory (DRAM) array combining metal word lines and folded bit line architecture. Multiplexed switching of the bit lines is utilized to make connection to the sense amps. The word lines connect to every fourth access transistor in a column with twice as many word lines employed as in prior art arrays. The use of folded bit lines reduces the effects of noise on bit line sensing while the metal word lines increase speed by several orders of magnitude. The sense amps are disposed between blocks of memory cells and sense every other bit line. Column decoders are placed between rows of sense amps with row decoders and drivers at the end of the blocks of cells.
Abstract: Composite shaped foam articles of manufacture and method for fabricating such articles is disclosed. The articles are formed by providing a section of foam material, treating a first surface of the section of foam material with adhesive, providing a second section of flexible foam having a surface to be joined with a surface of the first section, treating at least one of the surfaces to be joined with a suitable adhesive, joining the treated surfaces of foam, deforming the joined sections of foam into a selected shape, and curing the adhesives whereby the joined sections of foam remain elastically deformed rather than restoring to their original unstressed condition thus maintaining their selected shape.

Abstract: An electronic lock and key includes an electronic key which produces a specific electric signal such as a frequency signal, photo signal or logic signal when inserted into the key holder of the lock; and an electronic lock which is comprised of a power source, a key holder, a lock signal generator, and a signal comparing circuit that compares the signal of said key and the signal of said lock signal generator.
Abstract: A toy doll which responds with spoken words and/or sentences to the touching of selected portions of the doll by a user and/or voice actuation by the user is described. Specific areas of the doll, such as eyes, ears, nose, etc. are provided with touch switches. When one of the switches is activated, the doll responds with one of two randomly selected sentences related to that part which was touched e.g. "that's my nose", "do you like my nose". In addition, voice actuation is provided by a microphone located within the doll. When the user speaks to the doll, the microphone senses the speech. After the speech has stopped for a fixed period of time (usually one second) the doll responds with a randomly selected sentence. Audio responses are stored via ROM in circuitry within the doll. The vocabulary of the doll can be changed or enlarged with additional ROM's. In order to conserve power, a gravity switch is provided to turn the doll on when the doll is placed in a sitting position or otherwise moved.
Abstract: A carrier for holding a semiconductor device attached to a tape, said device being bonded to leads attached to the tape, said carrier having a base unit on which the tape is mounted, the base unit also having recessed located on the outer frame for aligning the carrier to punching die and other tools. The base unit also includes retractable latches that secure the tape to the base unit. Alignment posts on the base unit engage sprocket holes in the tape to align any test pads on the tape to the base unit; the alignment posts also align any plating bus nodes to a punching die for removal of the nodes while the tape is in the carrier. A cover is also provided to protect the tape; the legs of the cover engage receptacles in the base unit. The cover and base unit may be electrically conductive to protect against electrostatic discharge; the cover may further include conductive blades which short out leads on the tape to increase electrostatic discharge protection.

Abstract: A bore hole navigator utilizing a two axis directional gyro on the inner frame of the navigator and a single axis accelerometer on the outer frame is disclosed. This allows the inner frame of the navigator and thus the entire navigator to be smaller in diameter, both because of the removal of the acceleration axis to the outer gimbal and because the electrolytic level sensor, if used, is much smaller than a single axis accelerometer. The overall smaller diameter is maintained by using a belted design wherein the gyro/electrolytic level sensor, the inner frame torquer/gear and the inner frame resolver are connected in series along the length of the navigator, with a high gear reduction ratio on the inner frame torquer providing a positive drive within a smaller diameter. This configuration, together with unique calculation algorithms allows smaller diameter and deeper holes to be surveyed.
Abstract: A random number generator is described. The output of two relatively fast digitally controlled oscillators are exclusively ORed and gated by a counter which has a counting rate determined by a relatively slow digitally controlled oscillator. The ORed output is accumulated in the accumulator. During the inactive period of the ORed gate, the counter is preset to a value which is a function of the digital value stored in the accumulator. Further, during this inactive period, selected output lines of the accumulator are also exclusively ORed and gated to shift the accumulated value. The final value of the accumulator is generated as a random number and further provides a seed number for varying the frequency of the two relatively fast oscillators which then provide the foundation for the next random number.
