Abstract: A cord rewinder device stores and dispenses flexible cord and includes a base, a reel, a spring element and a brake mechanism. The reel is rotatably mounted to the base and is operative to rotate an axis of rotation in a first direction and second direction opposite the first direction. In the first direction, the flexible cord is wound about the reel for storage within the cord rewinder device. In the second direction, the flexible cord is dispensed from the cord rewinder device. The spring element is connected to and between the base and the reel and is operative to apply a winding force to the reel. The brake mechanism is mounted to the base and is operative to move to and between a reel engaged position and a reel disengaged position. In the reel engaged position, the brake mechanism contacts the reel preventing the rotation of the reel in the first direction while permitting rotation of the reel in the second direction.

The handle structure includes a pair of handles connected to the intermediate portion and spaced apart from one another in a generally parallel relationship with the shaft positioned between the pair of handles. Each one of the pair of handles extends along a respective handle axis that is oriented generally perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis. The forearm support member is connected to the first portion and has a forearm support surface spaced apart and facing away from the shaft. The connector is disposed at the second portion and is operative to connect the hand grip of the golf club and the golf club handle apparatus together.
Abstract: A system for facilitating the searching of data from an electronic data source. The invention teaches a method for presenting a large number of search terms rapidly and efficiently to a user. Users may scan a large number of search terms, move quickly from one search category to another, select a search term with minimal mechanical input and generate a series of “hits” that meet their search goals. The need to guide the computer with mechanical actions from a keyboard, mouse or other device is minimized. Graphics that distract the user from any task other than selecting hits are eliminated. Users are able to scan quickly and find electronic information with minimum effort.
Abstract: This invention provides highly reliable ignition device with superior ease of mass production, and a method for the manufacture thereof.
An ignition device is constructed by taking a heating element 40 comprising a bridge element 25 composed of a heating bridge wire 25c which is heated by the passage of an electric current and heating electrodes 25a and 25b located at both ends thereof, and a flexible insulating sheet 26 which carries this bridge element; then welding this heating element to stem electrodes, formed in the stem, via connection guides which are openings provided in the insulating sheet at the location of the heating electrodes.
Abstract: The present invention relates to magnetic flow meters comprising a floating member, made of magnetically responsive material and residing within a tubular conduit, through which the fluid flows. The flow meters are provided with a means for producing magnetic field in the conduit. A response signal is generated upon displacement of the float member within the magnetic field by the flowing fluid. Flow rate value is obtained by processing the response signal and comparing it with a calibration curve.
Abstract: A surgical retractor blade is attached to a ratchet handle with a ball and socket joint to move with more than one degree of freedom. The surgical retractor blade can be removably attached to the handle through either a slot on the handle or a clamping mechanism attached to the handle by the ball and socket joint. In the case of the slot, the surgical retractor blade has a shaft with a first diameter narrower than the slot and a second diameter wider than the slot. The blade is turned one way for attachment and removal and another way to secure it to the handle for use.

Abstract: A method for improving the visual performance of a person involves correcting higher-order monochromatic aberrations in combination with the correction of chromatic aberration. Such correction results in a visual benefit greater than that realized by correcting only the higher-order monochromatic aberrations or the chromatic aberration alone. The higher-order monochromatic aberrations are corrected by introducing appropriate phase profiles to compensate for the wavefront aberrations of the eye. This compensation can be provided by contact lenses, IOLs, inlays and onlays having appropriate surface shapes or by corneal shaping achieved through refractive surgery or other techniques. Chromatic aberration can be corrected by spectral filtering or artificial apodization. An apodization filter is described that provides a non-uniform amplitude transmission across the pupil of the eye.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a multi-layer optical information carrier with fluorescence reading/recording is presented. A structure is fabricated, being formed of a substrate carrying a fluorescent film on one or both surfaces thereof, wherein the substrate is transparent with respect to incident radiation used for the fluorescence reading/recording. A patterned structure is applied to the fluorescent film under predetermined process conditions, such as to produce a fluorescent patterned structure with a surface relief in the form of an array of discrete fluorescent regions. The same procedure is repeated a required number of times, so as to obtain at the end of the process a multi-layer optical information carrier.
Abstract: A tree stand for use in hunting or the like has a vertical member with two platforms attached to it to provide a seat and a foot rest. A jack plate is pivotally attached to the back of the vertical member. The jack plate is securely fastened to a tree trunk or limb. The angle between the vertical member and the jack plate is adjusted with an adjustment strap connecting the two. By adjustment of that angle, the vertical member can be maintained in a vertical position regardless of the angle of the trunk or limb to which the jack plate is fastened.

Abstract: An ovarian capsule includes a capsule body enclosing an interior for receiving an ovary and defining a selectively openable, selectively closeable access. The access, when open, forms a gap, space or opening in the ovarian capsule through which an ovary is introduced in the interior. When the access is closed, withdrawal of the ovary from the interior is prevented whereby the ovary is encapsulated by the ovarian capsule to prevent fertilization of ova released by the encapsulated ovary. A method of encapsulating an ovary in the body of a patient includes the steps of introducing an ovarian capsule in the abdominal cavity of the patient, opening the ovarian capsule to provide access to the interior thereof, positioning an ovary of the patient within the interior of the capsule and closing the ovarian capsule to encapsulate the ovary and prevent withdrawal of the ovary from the ovarian capsule.

The third sealing layer is removed prior to entering a storage area. The second layer is removed prior to taking the container to the sterile environment. The storage area may also be sterile. The innermost container may be an aerosol container and the composition a disinfectant liquid such as alcohol. The entire shipping enclosure and contects is preferably sterilized with gamma radiation.

Abstract: Methods and systems for optimal access of data are disclosed. A system for optimally updating data is described wherein a central database transmits a location table to a remote terminal having an access time variant (ATV) storage medium wherein a first set of data items is stored. The data on the ATV medium can be displayed visually upon a user's accessing a particular piece of data from the ATV medium. The user's data access habits are indexed on a location table by the central database where the location table is optimized and updated according to the number of accesses the user makes to particular data items. A second set of data is then transmitted to the remote terminal along with the updated location table and stored on the ATV database in optimized form, thereby reducing the access time to the second set of data on all the remote terminals since each particular user's individual habits govern the optimization process.
