  • Patent number: 4572681
Abstract: The printing head for a wire-type dot printer includes a plurality of electromagnetic coils, a wire, a permanent magnet, and a leaf spring. The arrangement of the wire and the leaf spring allows the print head to operate stably during high-speed operation. The wire dot print head has a head body in which the wire drive units are assembled so there is no problem with magnetic interference between the electromagnets. In addition, the wire dot print head may be comprised of a multiplicity of wires, and may be of a double-deck construction type which renders the unit more compact. This arrangement allows the construction of a multiwire high speed print head which can be easily assembled from simple parts.

  • Patent number: 4571551
Abstract: A flyback modulated switching power amplifier is described. The amplifier employs a waveform generator to produce an input signal and power switches capable of controlled conduction in one direction and uncontrolled conduction in the other. An inductor is coupled to the power source through the power switches so that flyback current can flow through a switch in its uncontrolled direction from the inductor when the switch is turned off. A conduction feedback circuit detects conduction by the switches and a comparator detects whether the output is "too high" or "too low" relative to the input signal. A logic control selectively activates the switches to control the output voltage, but not until the last switch to be turned off has stopped all conduction, including flyback conduction.

  • Patent number: 4569208
Abstract: A pressure relief port for relieving the pressure within an enclosure having a wall with first and second sides and a first opening therethrough. The pressure relief port includes a tube having a conduit therethrough sized to fit in the first opening in the wall to extend essentially intermediate the first and second sides of the wall. First and second end caps having respective openings therein are sized to fit on the first and second walls respectively, about the first opening. The tube extends into the first and second end caps. A flexible diaphragm extends substantially across the conduit in the tube for regulating air flow and is displaceable between a first position where the diaphragm substantially closes off the conduit to air flow and a second position where the diaphragm is displaced by air pressure to permit air to flow through the conduit to equalize pressure on opposite sides of the wall.

  • Patent number: 4570115
Abstract: The voltage regulator, entirely of monolithic integrated circuit construction, has an output voltage with a temperature gradient similar to that of the saturation and threshold voltages of liquid crystal elements. Constant current flows through temperature sensitive resistive elements in series with temperature insensitive resistance elements. The output voltage taken across at least a portion of the resistance elements has a voltage/temperature characteristic similar to that of the temperature sensitive elements. Both the level of the output voltage and the temperature gradient of the output voltage are independently controllable and independent of source voltage variations. Buffer circuits may be used between the output of the regulator and load, and sampling techniques are also used to conserve energy by duty cycle operation of higher current circuit elements.

  • Patent number: 4570015
Abstract: N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-L-aspartic acid (Z-Asp) crystals several times larger than those obtained by conventional crystallization are prepared by acidifying an alkaline aqueous solution of a metal salt of Z-Asp at high temperatures of between about 20.degree. to 45.degree. C. The resulting large crystals contain less moisture and less impurities such as sodium chloride, dipeptide and benzyl alcohol, etc. than those crystals obtained at lower temperatures and they are easily processed for preparing aspartame.

  • Patent number: 4568309
Abstract: A multi-action toy vehicle which includes a chassis having first and second rear wheels rotatably supported thereon. The toy vehicle includes first and second arms pivotally supported on the chassis proximate the rear wheels, which each include a projection. A weighted lever is movably supported on the chassis, which selectively changes the balance of the toy vehicle depending on the position thereof. The lever also selectively contacts the first and second arms to cause the first and second projections to selectively extend through the chassis. The projections will contact the surface on which the toy vehicle is riding to cause the toy vehicle to perform multiple actions.

  • Patent number: 4567448
Abstract: A variable frequency oscillator circuit adapted for stabilization of its free-running frequency comprises a first signal synthesizing circuit, first voltage-controlled oscillator, a phase-locked loop and reference signal generator, the phase-locked loop consisting of a second signal synthesizing circuit, second voltage-controlled oscillator, phase comparator and low-pass filter. The first and second signal synthesizing circuits have the same characteristics, and the first and second voltage-controlled oscillators have the same characteristics. The reference signal and output of the second voltage-controlled oscillator are input to the phase comparator. The comparator output is applied to the first and second signal synthesizing circuits. An external signal is applied to the first signal synthesizing circuit, and the output of the first voltage-controlled oscillator acts as the output of the variable frequency oscillator circuit. The principles are applied to reading data pulses from a floppy disk.
