  • Patent number: 4565452
Abstract: A cooling method is provided for hot material and in particular for fruit preparations, where the containers receiving the hot material to be filled in are on their outside contacting a cooling medium and are constantly rotated around at least one axis, such that a continuous circulation and mixing of the material to be filled in is provided. The containers are like barrels and are provided with a cylindrical container jacket. Sheet metal mixing baffles extend inwardly from the walls, which provide for a continuous circulation of the filled in material upon rotation of the containers around their axes. The cooling provision is an immersion bath filled with liquid and which bath is provided with a rotary drive for rotating the containers around their longitudinal axes.

  • Patent number: 4565461
Abstract: The printer includes a print head moveable in a lateral direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of a sheet of recording paper. The print head is supported on a carriage which is reciprocably driven. Different paper feed pitches are selectable depending upon the lateral position of the carriage at the end of printing. A paper feed cam includes two or more feed grooves and pitch changing grooves connecting the feed grooves so that the paper feed means can operate from any selected one of the feed grooves. A cam follower connected to the carriage rides in a groove causing the paper feed cam to be driven by motion of the carriage. Different feed pitches for graphics and text are provided.

  • Patent number: 4563856
Abstract: The bag closing apparatus includes a horizontal plate for supporting a coiled strip of bag closure tags, a channel having a width corresponding to the thickness of the bag closure tags and a height greater than the height of the bag closure tags. The channel terminates with an inclined surface such that the upper surface of the tag can be exposed with the entrance to the opening within the tag lying substantially flush with the inclined surface. When a bag to be closed is slid manually downward along the inclined surface, the crushed end of the bag enters the opening in the closure tag and is seated therein. The bag and the closure tag are then manually slid until the closure tag leaves the channel and is broken from the strip. In the process of clearing the first closure tag, engaged with a bag, from the channel, the next following closure tag is brought into position to receive the next bag to be closed.

  • Patent number: 4561739
Abstract: A pair of trial spectacles for allowing a wearer to test the feeling and effect of a pair of spectacles and lenses before an actual pair is constructed. The trial spectacles include a frame member adapted to be supported on the face of a wearer having at least a first eye rim portion positioned in front of one of the eyes of wearer when the frame member is supported on the face of the wearer. The first rim portion is adapted to removably support a first lens. The first lens is horizontally slidable in the first portion so that the first lens can be horizontally adjusted to meet the wearer's visual requirements.

  • Patent number: 4559977
Abstract: A ring encircles produce placed on a work table. Tie ribbon is fed by pressure rollers around the inner periphery of the ring to form a complete loop. A first gripper clamps and retains the free end of the ribbon against a second gripper. The pressure rollers operate in reverse retracting excess ribbon about the produce. A friction clutch, operative only for reverse ribbon feeding, allows for ribbon slippage as the ribbon tightens around the produce. Then the second gripper clamps the other end of the ribbon against a twister head and a twister mechanism rotates the clamped ends of the ribbon about a common axis twisting the ribbon ends together. Shearing edges sever the engaged ribbon from a ribbon supply during twisting. The grippers and twister mechanism are at ends of concentric support rods and tubes, and the grippers in clamping move along the rotational axis of the twister mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4559862
Abstract: A packing material comprises glass or other inorganic fibers in combination with organic fibers such as sintered polytetrafluoroethylene (TFE) or other selected fibers with or without an impregnant, a preferred impregnant being a lubricant with a binder. Ceramic fiber or quartz fiber can be substituted for glass fiber. Specific metal disulfides or talc can be substituted for the dispersed graphite and dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene (TFE) can be used as a binder for the lubricant. Aramid, polyethylene, polypropylene, graphite, carbon, vegetable, nylon or rayon fibers or filaments can be substituted for the sintered TFE fiber in combination with inorganic fiber.

  • Patent number: 4560982
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device having non-linear characteristics provides uniform quality in a matrix display. In driving rows and columns of picture elements the duty ratio is substantially increased by shortening the time in which the picture element is selected and charged for lighting. Charging time is less than the half frame period divided by the number of columns to be driven in the half frame, and more rows of elements can be driven in the half frame period. The portion of time actually used for charging is designated as a fine scanning period. By modulating the voltage levels across the liquid crystal layer during fine scanning periods when the crystal element is not selected, effective voltage across the picture elements is maintained with little variation regardless of the number of picture elements driven on the same signal line. A gray scale display can be provided.

  • Patent number: 4559766
Abstract: In a device for automatic tying of packages, the raising of an arm and insertion of a package to be tied, followed by lowering of the arm, automatically draws from a reel the requisite quantity of twist-tape, cuts the tape away from the reel and ties the twist-tape into a knot. The twist-tape is the paper or vinyl tie having a soft wire sandwiched between two layers of the paper or vinyl material.

  • Patent number: 4560582
Abstract: A semiconductor device including a MOS field effect transistor formed on a single silicon crystal substrate having source and drain diffused regions of reduced depth. In order to avoid penetration of aluminum from the aluminum connector through the diffused region into the substrate, the diffused region is formed by double diffusion of at least two types of impurities of the same conductive type, but having different diffusion coefficients with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4559880
Abstract: A safe having improved security and being particularly well suited for securing within a drawer is provided. The safe is formed from a one-piece steel sheet providing a seamless top. A safe door is formed in an opening in the safe top with a door hinged by a hinge with a pin recessed below the top surface to prevent attack. The safe door is locked by a three-point bolting lock. The safe may be secured within a drawer by outwardly projecting bolts which prevent removal of the safe without destroying the drawer. An internal alarm may be set to operate upon removal of the safe from the drawer.

  • Patent number: 4560716
Abstract: Epoxy resin compositions including an epoxy resin, a hardener and an additive for forming a rust preventing film are provided. The additive is at least one selected from dithiophosphoric acids, dithiophosphoric acid derivatives, metal salts of dithiocarbamic acids and oxidized waxes. The composition may also include a secondary additive such as an organosilicon compound, an organoaluminum compound or an organotitanium compound for dithiophosphoric acid and/or dithiophosphoric acid derivative; an alkylarylsilsesquioxane silicone compound for a metal salt of dithiocarbamic acid; an alkylarylsilsesquioxane silicone compound, an organoaluminum compound, an organotitanium compound or an organotin compound for an oxidized wax. These epoxy resin compositions, when used as encapsulating materials, prevent moisture and impurities from penetrating into the surface of an encapsulated product because of the rust preventing film existing between the composition and the encapsulated product.
