Abstract: An input structure for a display device having opposed substrates an electrodes disposed on the inner surfaces of the substrates and a seal about the periphery thereof with a relay electrode crossing the seal to connect the electrodes on the opposed substrate to external circuitry. The electrical connection between the electrodes on the first substrate to the relay electrode is provided by a conductive adhesive electrode and a conductive synthetic resin thin film layer contacting the conductive adhesive electrode, the thin film layer formed of conductive material which is shorter than the conductive material of the conductive adhesive electrode to absorb shock and avoid separation of the electrodes from the opposed substrate.
Abstract: A ravel-resistant, self-supporting woven synthetic fabric vascular graft including a fusible fiber integrated into the weave in the filling yarn is provided. The graft is woven from multifilament polyester warp yarns which can be textured or flat. The filling yarn includes a low melting fusible fiber or resin which can be combined with a stiff monofilament. The monofilament component provides radial rigidity to improve kink and crush resistance. After heat setting, the low melting fusible resin fuses to orthogonal warp yarns at each intersection and provides ravel resistance to the finished graft. Improved kink resistance make the tubular grafts suitable for use in medium and small diameter peripheral applications. A preferred graft has a single velour outer surface and a smooth inner surface.

A plurality of common electrodes are formed on the first substrate and a plurality of segment electrodes are formed on the second substrate. A driver provides a common voltage waveform of either a selected or non-selected voltage to each of the plurality of common electrodes and provides a segment voltage waveform of either an ON voltage or an OFF voltage to the plurality of segment electrodes. A compensating circuit compensates at least one of the common voltage and the segmented voltage based upon the pattern of characters displayed by the liquid crystal display device.
Abstract: An improved wire dot print head for increased integrated density is provided. The wire dot print head includes a frame. A plurality of drive coils are mounted within the frame. A lever for driving print wires has a print wire mounted at one end and its other end formed as a hook to act as a rotation support member. A yoke has salients formed thereon equal in number to that of the levers disposed on its end surface. The rotation support member of each lever is retained with a recess formed within a respective yoke and an end surface of the frame and is affixed in place by a retainer spring. When an excitement current flows through the coil, the lever is caused to move so that the print wire rotate about the rotation support member causing the print wires to strike a platen.
Abstract: A thermal transfer ink composition including a first component not having a distinct melting point below about 200.degree. C. The first component can be present as about 5 to 75% of the ink composition. The ink composition also preferably includes a second component having a melting point below about 200.degree. C. and colorant. The ink is highly resistant to extended exposure to high heat and high humidity and is capable of providing color printing with excellent color gradation and a broad range of color as well as providing a color image having a smooth look and feel. A thermal transfer ink medium includes the ink composition coated on a thin film support. The optical density of ink transferred from the medium is linearly proportional to printing energy supplied to the transfer medium.

Abstract: A reusable ear piercing earring includes a piercing pin with a circumferential groove formed therein. The groove is positioned between a pointed end of said piercing pin and a proximate end of said piercing pin. A distal end portion of the piercing pin including the pointed end is adapted to be broken off from the proximate end of the piercing pin at the groove. The circumferential groove is formed into a substantially V-shaped cross-section wherein one surface of the circumferential groove on the same side as the pointed end is inclined at an inclination angle .theta. of about 20.degree..+-.10.degree. with respect to a plane perpendicular to the axis of the piercing pin. The other surface of the groove opposite to the one surface is arcuate or round. The earring is first inserted through the ear. To reuse the earring the distal end portion of the piercing pin is separated from the proximate end of the piercing pin at the groove to provide a piercing pin with a new distal end.
Abstract: A miniature reduction gear includes a sun gear, a fixed inner gear and a movable inner gear and at least one planetary gear. The planetary gear is formed of three stages of outer teeth. Each outer tooth stage separately engages one of a sun gear, fixed inner gear and movable inner gear. The sun gear provides an input to the miniature reduction gear and the movable inner gear provides an output. The number of teeth of the planetary gear which engage with the sun gear is greater than the number of teeth which engage with either of the fixed inner gear or movable inner gear.
Abstract: Character pattern transforming system providing a character pattern whose size can be reduced or enlarged with an optional scale factor includes a gray scale device providing a plurality of values per pixel for adjusting the gray scale associated with the character pattern. The system further includes a pixel positioning circuit for determining the position of each pixel of the reduced or enlarged character pattern and a pixel coloring circuit for determining which of the pixels in the reduced or enlarged character pattern is to be colored based on the gray scale data. The thickness of the vertical lines of the transformed character pattern can be adjusted following enlargement or reduction of the character pattern. A detector circuit identifies right angle corners of the original character pattern to ensure that such right angle corners are maintained in the transformed character pattern.
