  • Patent number: 5282848
Abstract: A woven synthetic fabric tubular vascular graft including, a stiffening component in the filling yarn is self supporting without crimping the walls of the graft. The graft is woven from warp ends of multifilament polyester yarns and elastomeric yarns in the warp and a filling yarn which includes multifilament and monofilament polyester yarns which have been twisted together. Longitudinal and radial compliance provide for improved kink resistance making the tubular grafts suitable for use in medium and small diameter peripheral applications. A preferred graft has an outer velour surface and a smooth inner surface.

  • Patent number: 5282069
Abstract: An active element on an insulating substrate of an electro-optical display device includes a layer of ferroelectric material as an active layer between two electrodes for each pixel in the display. The active device includes a first electrode formed on an insulating substrate, the ferroelectric layer covering the first electrode and the insulating substrate, and the second electrode disposed on the ferroelectric layer for overlapping a portion of the first electrode with the ferroelectric material therebetween. Preferably, the ferroelectric material is an organic ferroelectric material.

  • Patent number: 5281037
Abstract: An improved wire dot print head for increased integrated density is provided. The wire dot print head includes a frame. A plurality of drive coils are mounted within the frame. A lever for driving print wires has a print wire mounted at one end and its other end formed as a hook to act as a rotation support member. A yoke has salients formed thereon equal in number to that of the levers disposed on its end surface. The rotation support member of each lever is retained with a recess formed within a respective yoke and an end surface of the frame and is affixed in place by a retainer spring. When an excitement current flows through the coil, the lever is caused to move so that the print wires rotate about the rotation support member causing the print wires to strike a platen.

  • Patent number: 5279457
Abstract: An exterior watch carton having a removable support insert is provided. The walls of the support insert align with the walls of the carton to form a reinforced carton. The support insert interlocks with the base of the carton so that the support insert may be removed. The support insert also changes the interior dimensions of the carton while not interfering with the external dimensions.

  • Patent number: 5280646
Abstract: The invention is directed to a wristwatch type paging device having a structure for preventing the intrusion of static electricity. The paging device is provided for receiving or transmitting signals. A pager circuit is provided for controlling and operating on the received or signals to be transmitted. A pager body, having a two part wrist band coupled thereto, houses the pager circuit. The body is formed with at least a conductive portion. The band fastens around the wrist of the user and carries antenna portions. A fastener mechanically couples the end portions and electronically couples the antenna portions. The conductive portion of the pager body is set to the AC ground potential (the potential of one of the positive or negative electrodes of the battery). A balanced varactor diode circuit is provided between the antenna portion ends defining an essentially neutral point coupled to one of its positive and negative electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5268212
Abstract: A stretchable, drapable, windproof, water resistant and water vapor permeable composite fabric including an inner layer of fabric formed from an essentially hydrophobic material rendered hydrophilic having a raised inner surface and a plain outer surface, a barrier means including a hydrophilic barrier layer and an outer layer of fabric. The barrier is constructed to allow water vapor molecules to travel therethrough, but restricts the passage of wind and liquid water. The water vapor is transported to and travels through the barrier to the outer fabric layer where it is removed to the environment.
