  • Patent number: 8281164
Abstract: A multicore processor provides for local power control at each of the cores which is used to lower the maximum operating frequency of cores by any amount above of the maximum operating frequency of the slowest core. This power savings is then used to increase the maximum operating frequency of the frequency balanced cores within a power constraint.

  • Patent number: 8272364
Abstract: An implement comprises an internal combustion engine having a throttle valve. At least one handle, the inside of which is provided with a gas lever likewise in a pivotal manner, is attached to a housing surrounding the internal combustion engine. The minimum distance between the gas lever and the handle is defined by a stop. When the operator lifts the implement by the handle, the position of the gas lever also changes. Even when the gas lever is fully depressed, only a part-load position is achieved at the throttle valve. In this way, effective rotational speed limitation is achieved.

  • Patent number: 8272270
Abstract: An ultrasonic measurement waveguide rod which is easy to manufacture and is capable of preventing a noise echo. An ultrasonic flaw detection waveguide rod 2 is arranged with a probe on one axial end thereof and a contact surface to be brought into contact with a test piece on the other end thereof. The cross-sectional shape of the rod 2 perpendicular to the axial direction is a polygon having sides any one (41A) of which is not parallel to any of the other sides 41B, 41C, 41D. Since at least a pair of the sides 41A, 41C opposed to each other are not parallel to each other, an ultrasonic wave P is allowed to reflect off outer surfaces making up the nonparallel sides 41A, 41C, enabling the ultrasonic wave P to be prevented from returning to the probe 3 as a noise echo. For example, the ultrasonic wave component reflected perpendicularly by one outer surface is reflected by the opposite outer surface and travels toward the outer surface having the side 41D. Hence, an echo or a noise hardly returns to the probe.

  • Patent number: 8269120
Abstract: A system and method of interlocking a plurality of electrical panel switches includes an interlock assembly having an interlock. The interlock has a first position that allows connection of one of utility power and power from an alternate power supply, such as a generator, to the electrical panel and prevents connection of the other of the utility power and alternate power. The interlock has a second position that allows connection of the other of the utility power and alternate power and prevents connection of one of the utility power and alternate power to the electrical panel. The interlock also is constructed to control the positioning and sequence of operation of neutral connections between the power supplies and the electrical panel.

  • Patent number: 8267755
Abstract: An elastic coin moving disk assembly (23) for moving coins across a coin sorting and coin collection member (13) in a coin handling machine (10), in which the coin sorting and coin collection member (13) has openings (28) of varying size to receive coins (14) of respective denominations, the coin moving disk assembly (23) having an annular disk body with a groove (32) and an outer rim (35) having a cavity (33) in a bottom surface; and a fin ring (39) molded into the cavity (33) in the bottom surface, the fin ring (39) comprising planar fingers (42) extending downward and substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface of the rim (35) when first manufactured, and later taking on an angular “set” after an initial break-in period, which is compensated for by a user-removable shim (43).

  • Patent number: 8263868
Abstract: A device for absorbing the electrical noise in cables contains a housing with a feed-through for a cable, which in the fastened position projects out of both end-faces of the housing. Externally on each of the end faces there are two strips which between them form a slot, and these strips form fixing edges bounding the slot The strips are connected to the end-faces of the housing in such a way that they are able to turn away from one another, so that their fixing edges can be moved further away or nearer along the longitudinal direction of the cable. By this means the breadth of the slot can be adapted to the flexibility and/or the diameter of the cable.

  • Patent number: 8261696
Abstract: An animal water toy that includes one or more playthings carried by flowing water that entices an animal, such as a cat, into interaction therewith. Playthings can be received in a container having water drinkable by the animal that is propelled by a pump into flowing and carrying the playthings. A portion can be upraised above the water providing an animal perch and/or flow director imparting flow deviations causing unpredictable plaything movement helping enhance animal interaction. A conveyance device can be provided conveying playthings relative to the flow. A pet watering device, e.g., fountain, can include an animal toy constructed in accordance with the present invention and a conveyance device lifting playthings from one level of the watering device to another. In one embodiment, playthings are animal attractant objects that can be buoyant and configured to attract an animal, such as by its color, graphics, indicia, and/or shape.

  • Patent number: 8261902
Abstract: A coin exchange machine (10) and method in which a coin counting mechanism (25, 23) receives a plurality of coins from a customer and counts the coins to determine a total, a dispensing mechanism (20) dispenses a receipt (17a) in exchange for the coins, and wherein before accepting coins for totaling and before dispensing the receipt, the machine (10) causes a display of a notice (21, 22) with a request for the customer to indicate acceptance through a user interface; wherein the machine (10) receives the customer's acceptance of the notice (21, 22) through the user interface; and wherein only after the customer's acceptance, the machine (10) then proceeds to receive and count coins deposited by the customer and to dispense the receipt (17a) to the customer for redemption. The machine (10) keeps a record of the transactions for performing a reconciliation routine to identify unredeemed receipts.

  • Patent number: 8257148
Abstract: A grinding head of a grinder is provided with a knife assembly that includes a knife holder with a number of arms, each having a knife insert slot, for receiving a matching number of knife inserts. The knife inserts have a blade or cutting edge and a bottom edge. The bottom edge, rather than being a straight edge, is shaped to define a pair of bearing portions that fit within the slot of the knife holder arm and allow the knife insert to be firmly retained in the slot. A recessed area is located between the bearing portions. The recessed area accommodates any imperfections in the floor of the insert slot, and provides a void area within which any material contained within the slot can be received when the knife insert is engaged within the slot.

  • Patent number: 8256987
Abstract: An oscillation exciter, in particular for a vibration plate, has a rotating unbalanced mass (3) for producing a non-directional oscillation which is transmitted to a ground contact element (1). In order to transmit the oscillation to the ground contact plate (1), a transmission device (7, 8) is provided, which connects the unbalanced shaft (3) to the ground contact element (1) and by means of which the non-directional oscillation of the unbalanced shaft (3) can be converted to a directional oscillation for the ground contact plate (1). The transmission device (7, 8) is designed such that, with respect to an oscillation plane, it has different and variable stiffnesses in different directions within the oscillation plane.
