  • Patent number: 7104573
Abstract: A gasket for converting a standard mechanical joint into a restrained mechanical joint without the need for altered configuration of the bell, spigot, or gland of the joint, and without the need for additional fittings or devices. In the practice of the present invention, a standard mechanical joint's bell and gland configuration can be employed to connect a spigot end of one pipe length to the bell end of another pipe length in a restrained relationship, with the restraint based on forces superior to rubber-to-pipe friction. In more particular discussion of the embodiments taught, the invention includes forming the gasket to fit within the bell in such a manner that a void, or gutter, exists during rest, into which void the gasket compresses, which in turn influences the rotational motion of the segment. In this manner, the configuration of the gasket influences the timing and extent of rotation throughout the process of securing the gland to the bell.

  • Patent number: 6977073
Abstract: A method is described whereby dendritic cells derived from the CD34+ and CD 34?hematopoietic cell lineages are directed to become programmable antigen presenting cells. The programmed cells may be pulsed with tumor cell RNA or tumor cell RNA expression products. The protocol provides for directing the maturation of dendritic cells to become antigen presenting cells. The protocol further provides for isolating tumor cell RNA from biopsy material that has been prepared in paraffin block storage. The directed dendritic cell is provided with a plurality of tumor markers by using tumor RNA in toto, the poly A+RNA fraction or the expression product of such RNA. Once activated the dendritic cells are incubated with T4 and T8 lymphocytes to stimulate and sensitize the T lymphocytes which upon introduction either into a donor host or a nondonor recipient will provide immune response protection.

  • Patent number: 6966846
Abstract: A conventional length golf club with a grip including a heavy counterweight, the mass of which is sufficient to cause the center of gravity of the whole golf club to be located within the boundaries of the grip. The counterweight may be an elongated member with a bore through its interior, and in order to achieve the object of placing the center of gravity within the boundaries of the grip, it must have a substantially larger cross-section than the standard-diameter shaft of a golf club. The grip may include a lower support section made of a substantially less massive material than the counterweight. In a preferred embodiment, the grip has an elliptical cross section with the major axis of the ellipse perpendicular to the face of the club head.
