Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing misted cleaning or disinfecting solution at one or more atomizing discharge ports for cleaning suction conduits, such as HVE conduits. The apparatus includes a venturi valve to extract concentrated cleaning/disinfectant fluid from a storage container. The concentrated fluid is mixed with a pressurized venturi-operating fluid, typically water, before being suctioned through an atomizing discharge port and entering the conduit to be cleaned.
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a boat's propulsion motor that permits steering of the boat by remote control. A preferred embodiment includes a bracket for attachment to a boat, and a steerable mounting plate to hold the motor. An orientation of the mounting plate is adjusted by an electric motor adapted to rotate a pinion gear for engagement with an arcuate rack gear. Desirably, a portable wireless control cooperates with a receiver including steering-control circuitry to effect operation of the steering motor. In one aspect of the invention, the receiver is structured for tool-free decoupling from the arrangement to provide theft security. It is also desirable to include a polarity-control circuit to resist damage to the steering-control circuitry by application of an electric power signal of improper polarity.
Abstract: An archery compound bow having first and second opposed limbs. The bowstring rigging typically includes a power cam associated with the first limb, and a pair of idler wheels associated with the second limb. Drawing the bow by retracting the drawstring to rotate the power cam causes the idler wheels to rotate at different rates of angular displacement. The bowstring rigging can be arranged to rotate the idler wheels in either the same direction, or in different directions.
Abstract: A roller-chain conveyor includes a guide plate to support the load carried by the roller-chain conveyor belt, and to maintain the roller-chain on a consistent track. A guide plate is carried on top of a stiff foundation plate to resist load-induced deflection. Foundation plates desirably carry hold-down structure adapted for reception in socket structure formed in the guide plate. Operable socket structure can be formed to include a T-slot. A cooperating hold-down structure is a mushroom-shaped peg affixed to the foundation plate. Such a guide plate is installed by lowering the guide plate onto the foundation plate to place the peg into reception in the socket. Then, the guide plate is slid axially to engage a rim of the T-slot under the mushroom head. One or more fasteners is then typically placed through the guide plate and into the foundation plate to resist axial motion effective to decouple the peg and socket. Guide plates desirably are made from a plastic material, such as Tyvar 88.
Abstract: A ball valve operable as an engine brake to resist high rpm operation of the engine on which it is installed. The ball valve has a noncontact seal and can include an aperture through a seal face to permit bypass of sufficient exhaust for operation of the engine at idle while the brake is engaged. If present, the aperture can be tuned, or sized, to provide a desired back pressure matched to a specific engine.
Abstract: A rust-proof window well manufactured from a composite material. The window well may have integrally formed steps to assist in egress from inside the well. Walls forming the well typically are ΒΌ inch thick, or greater. While generally made with a spray-up process from a glass/epoxy composite, the well may be manufactured from a variety of composite materials with corresponding manufacturing techniques.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for marking stretches of archery rigging cables to facilitate selection of a desired cable stretch from among other stored cables. The invention may be embodied as a device constructed for addition to a stretch of any archery cable. The device provide an add-on surface carrying indicia, typically pre-printed, corresponding to the cable stretch to be marked. In a preferred first embodiment, the add-on surface is provided by a length of heat-shrink tube. In a second desirable embodiment, the tube, or a portion of a tube, may be formed from a length of adhesive tape wrapped circumferentially about the cable. A third desirable embodiment includes holding structure inserted between separated strands of a portion of a cable stretch.
Abstract: An improved sight for an archery bow providing a mechanism operable to convert a rotational input to a purely translational output. The mechanism may be adapted simultaneously and uniformly to adjust the windage of a plurality of sight pins. In another embodiment, the mechanism may be operable to adjust a vertical position of an individual sight pin carrying a fiber optic pickup.
Abstract: A device to retract cams of spring-loaded camming devices (SLCD) used in rock climbing protection. The device includes a retraction mechanism operable on the SLCD and a control interface to receive input from a climber's hand. A linkage of variable length is disposed between the retraction mechanism and the control interface. The linkage may be adjusted between a longer deployed length for cam retraction and a shorter length to facilitate transportation and storage of the device.
Abstract: A rigging structure for a compound archery bow includes first and second pulley assemblies, pivotally mounted on axles at tips of corresponding first and second limbs of a compound bow. Each pulley assembly includes: a central string pulley component with a peripheral string groove; and first and second cable pulley components, each having peripheral cable groves. The first and second cable pulley components are fixed in straddling relation with respect to the string pulley component. A bowstring's opposite ends are connected directly to the first and second pulley assemblies such that, at rest condition of the bow, the peripheral string grooves are substantially occupied by wrapped bowstring. A first cable segment is carried by the first pulley assembly, such that opposite end stretches of the first cable segment extend from the respective cable grooves of the first pulley assembly to anchor to the second bow limb.
Abstract: An arrow rest for use with an archery bow. The arrow rest includes a shelf mountable to a bow for shelf orientation transverse to an arrow flight direction; one or more launcher arms affixed to the shelf for transverse windage adjustment; and an arrow glide supported by the launcher arm(s) arranged to support an arrow. The arrow rest may, in part, be assembled in a tool-free operation to create a self-biased friction fit between a launcher arm and the shelf. A resilient portion of the arrow rest absorbs arrow vibrations to reduce noise and improve arrow flight.
Abstract: A quickly detachable, modular arrow quiver adapted for mounting to a bow, hip belt, tree stand, or other suitable structure. The quiver typically includes a hood to shield broadheads, and an arrow holder spaced from the hood by a rail. A preferred resilient mount is self-biased to interface along an axis of the rail and hold the quiver in a tool-free, height adjustable position relative to structure on which the mount is installed. The resilient mount and suspended quiver mass act in concert as a vibration dampening system when installed on a bow. The modular quiver may be adjusted for length or appearance by use of different interchangeable rail, arrow holder, or hood components.
Abstract: A musical instrument capable of producing the sound spectrum associated with a traditional Australian didjeridoo, but in a more compact and portable form. In certain embodiments, an air column follows a tortuous path between a mouthpiece, having an input orifice between about one to about one-and-one-half inches in diameter, and an exit port. The air column is housed within a body having a length. The ratio of length of the air column to the instrument body length is preferably greater than 1.5 to provide a compact instrument. The instrument may be manufactured tuned to a traditional key-scale note, and may include tone holes to play other fundamental notes. In certain embodiments, a vibrating membrane may be provided in sealed relation over one or more through-holes in the body to produce other sounds of which a traditional didjeridoo is incapable.
Abstract: A container in which to store, transport, and mix a plaster compound. The container has a sealed plastic mix envelope inside which a preferentially rupturable plastic bladder holding a quantity of water is attached by a flexible adhesive film. The mix envelope also contains a quantity of dry plaster mix in a proscribed ratio to the water. A plaster cast may be created with minimal mess by pressing firmly on the envelope to rupture the bladder, kneading the mix envelope to fully wet the plaster mix, forming an opening in the envelope, and pouring the mixed plaster slurry into a mold.
