  • Patent number: 5109802
Abstract: An animal headgate has a rectangular frame in which a pair of neck-engaging yokes is mounted for coordinated sliding movement between a fully open position and a fully closed position. A parallelogram linkage interconnects each yoke to an associated sleeve on the rectangular frame so that movement of the sleeve between an upper and a lower position will move the yokes between the fully open and the fully closed position, respectively. An over-center spring arrangement urges the yokes from a neutral, open position toward the fully closed position. A unidirectional locking mechanism associated with each of the posts permits the spring arrangements to close the yokes about the neck of an animal but prevents unassisted opening of the yokes thereby restraining the animal. A notched bar and associated catch mounted on the upper end portions of the yokes provide for automatic operation of the headgate. The spring arrangements act to hold the notched bar in the catch at a preselected open position for the yokes.

  • Patent number: 5110532
Abstract: An improved method for manufacturing a laminate wherein the edges of a deformable surface layer, such as cloth or carpet, are folded under and releasably secured to the undersurface of the deformable surface layer. The deformable surface layer is then placed into a mold unit and the securement between the folded edge and the undersurface of the deformable surface layer is released either prior to or during the injection of a plastic material for forming a plastic support layer. The method produces a laminate including a deformable surface layer having edges which are folded under and totally bonded to the plastic support layer. The bonded edges improve the securement between the deformable surface layer and the plastic support layer and give the laminate a "finished" appearance without tacks or staples.

  • Patent number: 5088532
Abstract: A method and mechanism for controlling the material feed of a machine for chipping wood or brush. The machine has a pair of coacting feed rolls which feed material to be chipped into a rotating chipper that is driven by an engine of variable speed. Hydraulic motors for driving each of the feed rolls are actuated when the speed of the engine is at least a selected high level appropriate for efficient chipping. If the material is of a size or composition to load the engine below a selected low level adverse to efficient chipping, the hydraulic motors are interrupted to stop feeding of the material to allow the engine to return to an efficient chipping speed. When the engine has recovered to at least the selected high level, the hydraulic motors are reactivated to again feed material into the chipper.
