    Abstract: Method for draining and decompressing a colon in which a drainage tube is inserted through the anus into the colon to extend through the entire colon. The drainage tube is fixed in position and suction is applied therethrough to cause fecal matter to pass therein through apertures and be withdrawn from the colon. The drainage tube is inserted by inserting a guidewire into the colon through the anus, manipulating and pushing the guidewire to the cecum, passing a filament through the colon wall to engage the guidewire, pulling the guidewire out of the colon and anus to draw the filament through the colon and out of the anus, attaching the drainage tube to the filament and drawing the filament with attached drainage tube through the anus into the colon. The invention also relates to constructions of the guidewire, the drainage tube and methods for inserting drainage tubes using guidewires.

Each valve can lead from a respective first cell to a respective second cell and are preferably designed to close once a predetermined pressure prevails in the second cell to prevent fluid outflow from the respective second cell. The cells may be interconnected such that at least one cell is interposed between and connected to two other cells. A plurality of valves may be arranged between adjacent pairs of the cells, or only a single valve may be arranged between an adjacent pair of cells.

    Abstract: Side impact airbag system for a vehicle includes a side airbag arranged to deploy along a left or right side of the vehicle and an electronic crash sensor. The electronic crash sensor includes a housing, a mass arranged within the housing to be movable in a lateral direction relative to the housing in response to lateral accelerations of the housing, and a control mechanism for controlling deployment of the side airbag and which is responsive to the motion of the mass only in the lateral direction. The housing is mounted in such a position and a direction as to sense an impact into a side of the vehicle resulting in lateral acceleration of the housing. The electronic crash sensor may generate a signal representative of the movement of the mass.

Each sensor provides data relating to the force or pressure being applied at the respective location which is used to derive the approximate weight of the occupying item.
