  • Patent number: 6357646
Abstract: The invention provides a holder for an article or mobile device. A holder according to one or more embodiment of the invention allows a device to be securely held in the holder while providing easy and flexible access to the personal device. The holder allows a user access to the device while the holder is in several positions. The holder may also include other features that increase the utility of the holder. For example, additional holder pockets may be implemented with the additional pockets being accessible in only certain of the several positions.

  • Patent number: 6330442
Abstract: A mobile terminal is provided with an access code for a destination receiving device. The access code specifies that the user terminal provide a communication signal through at least one communication network to the destination receiving device. The at least one communication network is assumed to have a capability of forwarding received communication signals that include access codes having a predetermined format to destination receiving devices. A determination as to whether a format of the access code provided to the user terminal differs from the predetermined format is performed. If these formats differ, another step includes modifying the format of the access code provided to the user terminal to produce a modified access code having the predetermined format in the communication signal.

  • Patent number: 6330153
Abstract: A system for cooling an electronic device comprising a heat sink including a channel having an inlet and an outlet, with the channel coupled to an airflow generation system that generates airflow between the inlet and outlet. Heat is removed from an electronic device by decreasing the cross-sectional area of the channel to provide a throttle at a location adjacent to where the channel traverses the electronic device. A plurality of throttles may be formed in the channel, each for cooling a separate electronic device. An airflow control valve is operably connected to the heat sink for controlling the amount of airflow through the heat sink. A device controller connected to the airflow control valve and the air generation system adjusts the airflow control valve according to temperature measurements collected from the electronic device and controls the operation of the air generation system.

  • Patent number: 6317413
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assigning Walsh codes in a direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) telecommunications system. Walsh code sets are each generated from a different Walsh code Cx of length N. Each of the code sets is mutually disjoint to one another, i.e., each is generated from a different Walsh code Cx of length N, and each Walsh code Cx is from the same Walsh code matrix W. Each code set may be used to support a set of parallel CDMA channels. Because the codes of each Walsh code set are generated from the same Cx, a number of least significant bits from the code indexes of the codes in the set are equal and identical to the code index for the Cx used to generate the set. Assignment messages may be reduced in length by preassigning the code index of Cx to selected channels and then transmitting only the additional information necessary to specify the index of the assigned codes from the general code set generated from the Cx.

  • Patent number: 6297709
Abstract: A temperature compensated variable attenuator comprising a variable attenuator having at least one diode with temperature variations across the at least one diode producing a temperature offset signal. A bias source coupled to the variable attenuator supplies a biasing signal to the at least one diode through a temperature compensation source. The temperature compensation source is coupled between the bias source and the variable attenuator with the temperature compensation source comprising at least one diode capable of producing a temperature offset signal approximately equivalent to the temperature offset signal produced by the first at least one diode. The approximate temperature offset signal subtracted from the biasing signal produces a temperature compensated bias signal that is supplied to the variable attenuator.
