Abstract: A pad for handle grips of hand held paint spray guns. Frequent prolonged use of paint spray guns can result in the fatiguing and stressing of operator hands. Fatigue and stress can be aggravated by requiring the operator to hold his or her hand in essentially one position on the handle grip. The pad reduces such fatigue and stress. The pad fits within a recessed region that is molded into the paint spray gun handle where the operator's palm meets the grip. Alternatively, the pad could be attached to existing paint spray gun handle grips that are lacking the recessed region. The pad is made of a material that is less dense than the synthetic resinous material of the spray gun handle grip. Preferably, the material is plastic foam or gel and is attached to the spray gun handle using an acrylic glue. The pad is designed to absorb some of the vibrational energy that is transmitted to the operator's hand in current spray gun handles.

Abstract: The present invention provides a traction device for a terrain engaging element. The traction device defines a stud having a head portion and a shank portion extending from the head portion and adapted to be secured into the terrain engaging element. A plurality of spherical carbide pellets are bonded together on and to surfaces of the head. The carbide pellets are provided in multiple layers extending across the head surface. The carbide pellets are provided in a stacked relationship to each other so that during use the carbide pellets are capable of being individually dislodged to reveal a carbide pellet of an underlying layer.
Abstract: An insulative body adapted to be deformed into contact with a plurality of loadbreak elbow connectors secured to a transformer or other electrical apparatus during repair or replacement, providing safe and secure access for a linesman. The body enshrouds a volume surrounding a plurality of loadbreak elbow connectors with a form-fitting structure adapted to deform into contact with the plurality of loadbreak elbow connectors when an external force is used to place the cover. Collar portions defining retaining structure are adapted to retain the cover in place until an external force is applied to remove the cover.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus used for tightening tire chains. One embodiment of the present invention includes an outer portion and an inner portion. The outer and inner portions have a plurality of first and second apertures, respectively. A plurality of arms are secured onto the inner portion and extend through the second aperture and then through the first apertures. The arms have a first end which is adapted to be secured onto the inner portion, and a second end which is adapted to secure to a tire chain. A bar variably couples the outer portion and the inner portion. The distance between the outer and inner portions adds or subtracts tension in the arm which correspondingly adds or subtracts tension in the tire chain.
Abstract: A filter system for a surface maintenance machine having a hopper assembly for receiving brush-thrown debris including a cyclonic separator for separating dust and debris from air drawn through the hopper via vacuum action. The cyclonic separator may include multiple cyclone and may be in fluid communication with the hopper assembly so as to periodically receive dust and debris exiting the filter system.

Abstract: An ornamental sound music module for a balloon has an ornamental suitably raised face with a peripheral lip or flange. A backer board is adhered to the rear of the ornamental face creating a housing. A central aperture is within the backer board with an annular support rim for supporting the outer disc portion of a piezoelectric buzzer in a firm manner to encourage the central regions of the buzzer to generate optimum music. A circuit board is contained within the housing and is connected to the buzzer by wires. The backer board suitably has an adhesive to allow the ornamental sound module to be affixed to a metalized nylon film balloon.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of determining the living character of an element carrying a fingerprint. The method according to the invention is characterised in that it consists of making on the one hand at least one electrical measurement and on the other hand taking an image of the said fingerprint, and then validating the said or each electrical measurement by comparing it with the range of values of electrical measurements defined by a pre-established relationship linking the said range to characteristics of the said image.
Abstract: A handheld cleaning device, particularly for footwear cleaning, including first and second opposed ends, with each end having access to a reservoir containing either a cleaning solution or a shoe polishing compound. A method of using the device to clean and polish footwear is also described.
Abstract: A modular prefabricated deck system which includes a plurality of rectangular flooring modules. Each module may include a plurality of laminations, such as a decorative upper element, and a lower support element for supporting the module upon the underlying joist structure of the deck. Additionally, the system includes spline and support portions for attaching the modules upon an underlying structure, such as a wood deck structure, upon installation.
Abstract: A chest compression apparatus for use by patients with cystic fibrosis, the preferred apparatus including an air flow generator component, a pulse frequency control component having a fan blade valve for producing a sinusoidal wave form, an optional pressure control component, and a patient vest. The apparatus can be used to apply sharp compression pulses to the entire thorax via the inflatable vest worn by the patient. The optional modular nature of the present apparatus provides particular benefits in the manufacture and use of the present apparatus. The modular nature, in essence, provides even greater portability since one or more modules can be individually replaced or repaired as needed, thereby lessening the overall cost and inconvenience to the patient.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of determining the living character of an element carrying a fingerprint, consisting of making impedance measurements at various points on the said element by means of electrodes. The method according to the invention is characterised in that it consists of determining whether the said impedance measurements satisfy a law of variation of the impedance measured by the said electrodes as a function of the surface area of the said electrodes covered by the said elements such that Z=ƒDt(S).
Abstract: An apparatus for painting a surface, having an absorbent paint applicator containing paint and contacting the surface; a tube filled with paint and connected to the applicator; and a metering device for incrementally metering paint onto the applicator from the tube. The metering device has a plunger reciprocating within the tube, with the plunger having a handle. The plunger can either be incrementally advanced within the tube by rotating the handle, thereby incrementally dispensing paint onto the applicator, or the plunger can be manually retracted within the tube to fill the tube with paint and manually advanced within the tube to dispense the paint. The plunger is helically grooved along its length and a converter translates rotation of the handle into linear motion of the plunger, thereby advancing the plunger within the tube.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pad and sound transmission system which is adapted to directly transmit audible sound waves into the body at high intensity levels. In one embodiment, the subject invention includes a back pad and a seat pad. Each pad includes a speaker module having an acoustic speaker disposed within the pad and surrounded by a plurality of different layers.
Abstract: A control system for a linear actuator having an electric motor drawing a variable current level during operation. The control system includes a current level sensor for determining an operational current level of the linear actuator and a controller for generating a drive signal and a force request signal representative of a desired current level of the linear actuator. The drive signal remains constant during a predetermined time interval of the controller. The control system further includes a current limiting component for receiving the force request signal, the current level of the linear actuator and the drive signal. The current limiting component minimizes the current level of the electric motor in response to a comparison between the force request signal and the desired current level within a time interval substantially smaller than the predetermined time interval of the controller.
