Patent number: 8351678Abstract: Images from checks may be compared with each other to detect a twice-deposited or represented check. An image of a check may be parsed into regions or tiles, for example. In an implementation, values for regions or tiles over a predetermined area (e.g., an area from a character in the magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) line at the bottom of the check to the dollar sign symbol) may be compared. In an implementation, a virtual overlay of two check images may be performed and a correlation may be determined.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2008Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventor: Reynaldo Medina, III

Patent number: 8351609Abstract: One or more rights objects (RO) files may be used for storing RO's preferably in the protected area available only to authenticated users. A RO navigation file is stored preferably in an unprotected public area containing status bits, where each status bit identifies whether a location in a RO file contains a valid RO or not. Preferably, there is a one-to-one correspondence between the location for a RO in a RO file and a location in the RO navigation file for the status bit which identifies whether its corresponding location in the RO file contains a valid RO or not. Whether a particular location in a RO file contains a valid RO or not can be found by checking its corresponding status bit in the RO navigation file. By finding out whether a particular location in a RO file contains a valid RO or not in this manner, it is possible to delete ROs without having to go through an authentication process. The process of finding an empty slot in the RO file for storing a new RO is also simplified.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2010Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: SanDisk Technologies Inc.Inventors: Oktay Rasizade, Bahman Qawami, Fabrice Jogand-Coulomb, Robert C. Patent number: 8348987Abstract: A circumferentially and longitudinally continuous scoring structure having a diameter in an initial unrestrained state that is smaller than a deflated diameter of the balloon is disposed around an outer surface of the balloon in an expanded configuration. The scoring structure continually exerts a radially inward compressive force against the balloon such that when the balloon is expanded from a deflated configuration to an inflated configuration, the scoring structure expands in a radially outward direction and remains in continuous compressive contact with at least a portion of the balloon as the balloon unfolds. The scoring structure may be entirely free of attachment to the balloon and catheter, and may extend substantially a length of a working region of the balloon. The scoring structure may include a plurality of circumferentially compressible members connecting longitudinal members.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2009Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Cook Medical Technologies LLCInventor: Elizabeth A. Patent number: 8348988Abstract: An endoluminal prosthetic device for placement in a body lumen is formed by stitching stents to a graft. A first or anchoring stent is used for securing a graft made of biocompatible material that forms at least one lumen. There is also a second stent. The first and second stents each include a plurality of struts and apices between the struts. At least two of the apices in each of the first and second stents are secured to the graft by stitches. A running suture links at least one stitch of the first stent and one stitch of the second stent. The running suture linking the first stent and the second stent adds strength to the stitches and better secures the first stent to the device. The endoluminal prosthetic device may be used in an aortic vessel to treat stenoses or aneurysms.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Cook Medical Technologies, LLCInventors: Ashvin Lad, Michael P. Patent number: 8352257Abstract: The present system proposes a technique called the spectro-temporal varying technique, to compute the suppression gain. This method is motivated by the perceptual properties of human auditory system; specifically, that the human ear has higher frequency resolution in the lower frequencies band and less frequency resolution in the higher frequencies, and also that the important speech information in the high frequencies are consonants which usually have random noise spectral shape. A second property of the human auditory system is that the human ear has lower temporal resolution in the lower frequencies and higher temporal resolution in the higher frequencies. Based on that, the system uses a spectro-temporal varying method which introduces the concept of frequency-smoothing by modifying the estimation of the a posteriori SNR. In addition, the system also makes the a priori SNR time-smoothing factor depend on frequency.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2007Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: QNX Software Systems LimitedInventors: Phil A.
