Abstract: An object detection system is disclosed in at least one embodiment. The system includes a far IR sensor operable to sense thermal radiation of objects and surroundings in a field of view and to generate a far IR image in response thereto, and an image processing device operable to receive and process the far IR image to detect the presence of one or more objects in the field of view. The image processing device can be configured to process the far IR image by generating an initial threshold image based on the far IR image and an initial threshold value, iteratively obtaining a number of successive threshold images based on the far IR image and a number of successively increased threshold values, and determining the presence of one or more objects in the field of view based on the threshold images and threshold values.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of producing methanol includes reacting a heated hydrocarbon-containing gas and an oxygen-containing gas in a reactor; to provide a product stream comprising methanol; and transferring heat from the product stream to the hydrocarbon-containing gas to heat the hydrocarbon containing gas. After removing methanol and CO2 from the product stream, unprocessed hydrocarbons are mixed with the hydrocarbon containing gas for reprocessing through the reactor. Reactor byproducts are injected into the ground to increase the output of a hydrocarbon producing well.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a motor/generator, a starter motor, a disconnect clutch disposed between the engine and the motor/generator, and at least one clutch disposed between the motor/generator and the vehicle drive wheels. When an engine start is requested, various parameters are controlled to ensure a smooth engine start wherein driveline torque disturbances are minimized. The starter motor is used to crank the engine at the lowest engine speeds when the engine-required torque is the highest. This reduces the amount of torque necessary to be supplied from the motor/generator, and further helps to reduce torque disturbances in the driveline. If the motor/generator is producing torque to propel the vehicle at the time the engine start is requested, a launch clutch or one or more transmission clutches can be controlled to provide slip between the motor/generator and the vehicle drive wheels to further reduce torque disturbances in the driveline.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for establishing connections in IP flow mapping update in a HRPD network, comprising steps of: (1) when a PCF receives a request for establishing A8 connections that need to be re-mapped, if determining that there is A8 connection supported, sending an A11-registration request to a PDSN; (2) when the PDSN receives the information on A10 connections in the A11-registration request, if determining that there is A10 connection supported, establishing those A10 connections and sending an A11-registration reply; (3) when the PCF receives the reply message, establishing all the A8 connections corresponding to the A10 connections and sending an A9-connect-A8 to the AN; (4) an AT and the AN releasing and removing the IP flow that can not be mapped to any of the A8 connections or resource reserved by the IP flow according to the A9-connect-A8 received.
Abstract: A sensor assembly for a vehicle windshield includes a retaining frame, a sensor housing, clamping hooks, a spring, and an actuating lever. The retaining frame is attachable to the windshield. The clamping hooks are connected to the housing. The clamping hooks are attachable to the retaining frame to attach the housing to the retaining frame. The spring is connected to the housing and associated with one of the clamping hooks. The actuating lever is pivotably mounted to the clamping hooks. Pivoting of the actuating lever causes the spring to compress and press the housing against the windshield when both the retaining frame is attached to the windshield and the housing is attached by the clamping hooks to the retaining frame.

Abstract: A system and method of controlling a multi-phase DC-DC converter having a first phase-leg and a second phase-leg using a single current sensor and a controller is provided. The single current sensor senses an amount of current flowing through the direct current link. Based on the amount of current sensed, the controller controls current flowing through the first phase-leg as well as current flowing through the second phase-leg.
Abstract: A method of optimizing the operation of left and right propellers disposed on either side of the fuselage of a rotorcraft including a main rotor. Left and right aerodynamic surfaces include respective left and right flaps suitable for being deflected, yaw stabilization of the rotorcraft being achieved via first and second pitches respectively of the left and right propellers, and the deflection angles of the left and right flaps are adjusted solely during predetermined stages of flight in order to minimize a differential pitch of the left and right propellers so as to optimize the operation of the left and right propellers, the predetermined stages of flight including stages of flight at low speed performed at an indicated air speed (IAS) of the rotorcraft that is below a predetermined threshold, and stages of yaw-stabilized flight at high speed performed at an indicated air speed of the rotorcraft greater than the predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A side airbag for an automotive vehicle includes an outboard panel having a perimeter edge and a first vertical length, and an inboard panel having a perimeter edge and a second vertical length shorter than the first vertical length, the inboard and outboard panels joined to one another around their respective perimeter edges to form an enclosed volume such that when the airbag is inflated a mid-thickness line is concave toward the inboard panel. When the inflated airbag is positioned between an occupant seat and a side wall of the vehicle, the inboard-curved shape provides early engagement between an occupant of the seat and the airbag to offer improved protection for the head and neck.
