Abstract: Provided is a wood splitter having a support element, a first elongated element, a second elongated element, and wood splitting components. A support element may be a first elongated element and a second elongated element engaged to the first elongated element. The first elongated element may be subject to a first pre-stress load. The first pre-stress load may be a first moment. The a second elongated element may be engaged to the first elongated element and may be subject to a second pre-stress load. Wood splitting components may be engaged with at least one of a first elongated element or a second elongated element, may be adapted to operate to split wood, and may be adapted to apply an operational load during operation to the first elongated element. The operational load may at least partially relax the first moment.

Alternatively, the remote starter system may comprise a kit comprising a remote starter system for remotely starting an engine of a vehicle and a universal bypass module that allows the remote starter system to be utilized with vehicles equipped with an anti-theft system such as a transponder-based vehicle security system or a resistance-based vehicle security system.

Abstract: A crossbow grip guard for preventing the fingers of an associated user from extending above a top portion of a stock of an associated crossbow. The crossbow grip guard may be adapted to be retro-fitted to an existing crossbow and may comprise a main body and an outwardly extending member that extends away from an exterior surface of the main body to create an obstacle or barrier positioned along a length of the main body and is designed to prevent the fingers of the associated user from extending above the top portion of the stock when firing the crossbow.

The tool may comprise a handle assembly selectively attached to an associated object. The handle assembly has a first member, which has a first position and a second position. A base clamping assembly is selectively attached to an associated open point, such as, but not limited to, an underground switch. A cable has a first end and a second end. The first end is operatively connected to the base clamping system. The second end is connected to an insulating portion. The insulating portion may be interposed between the base clamping assembly and the handle assembly.

Abstract: A crossbow may include a main beam; a compound bow assembly mounted to the main beam; and, a trigger mechanism mounted to the main beam for use in holding a bowstring in a cocked position. The crossbow may include wheels at opposite ends of the bow that operatively receive the bowstring. The wheels may be separated by a wheel distance (WD) when the crossbow is in an un-cocked position. The crossbow may also have a power stroke distance (PD) and the ratio WD/PD may be less than 2.0.

Abstract: A weapon, such as a crossbow or firearm, may have a main beam, a trigger mechanism mounted to the main beam and, a support rod that can be positioned into a first use position and a second stowed position. The support rod may have a first end used to support the main beam and a second end used to contact a ground surface. In one embodiment, a contact member with a hemispherical contact surface is attached to the second end of the support rod. In another embodiment, the support rod has a handgrip portion that receives a user's hand in supporting the weapon when shooting the weapon when the support rod is in the second stowed position. In still another embodiment, a mounting bracket is used to provide at least two locations for attaching the support rod to the main beam.

Abstract: There is provided a process for manufacture of optically-active, 2-(acyloxymethyl)-1,3-oxathiolanes of Formula I comprising a preparation of a racemic compound and an enzyme-catalyzed kinetic resolution of the enantiomers. The invention may further provide for the esterification and racemization of the by-product of the enzymatic reaction. In this manner, 2(R)-(benzoyloxymethyl)-1,3-oxathiolane is prepared as a useful intermediate for manufacture of the anti-HIV drug Apricitabine.

Abstract: A crossbow includes a body having a stock member and a barrel connected to the stock member. The barrel has an arrow receiving area for receiving an arrow. The crossbow also includes a bow having a pair of bow arms, a bowstring connected to the bow arms, a bowstring release mechanism used to hold and release the bowstring and, a scope mount used to hold a scope. An arrow retention spring is provided for retaining the arrow to the arrow receiving area. A vibration dampener may be positioned between the arrow retention spring and the scope mount in order to dampen the arrow retention spring vibrations made when shooting the crossbow. This greatly reduces unwanted noise.

A rotating member is mounted to the base plate in such a manner that the rotating member can be depressed and rotated by the push rod of the pedal, the rotating member having a pulling arm adapted to pull a manual operating cable in response to rotation of the rotating member. A rotation detecting sensor is provided on one side of the base plate for detecting the degree of rotation of the rotating member and then notifying an electronic control unit of the degree of rotation thus detected. This pedal device can be employed in common in a manually controlled pedal type vehicle and an electronically controlled pedal type vehicle.

The casting apparatus includes a housing provided with a bottom surface and a retaining wall for minimizing a number of projectiles that escape the housing during casting operations. A prime mover is provided for imparting a centrifugal force on the molten metal, and an arm is coupled to the prime mover adjacent to a proximate end to be rotated about a rotational axis and to support a cradle for receiving the mold adjacent to a distal end. A crucible is to be coupled to the arm for supporting the molten metal to be cast into the mold, while a catch surface is disposed between the arm and the bottom surface of the housing to collect molten metal that is cast but not received within the mold.
