  • Patent number: 7124722
Abstract: A VCT system having a housing, a rotor, a locking pin, and a spool valve. The spool valve has a spool slidably located in a bore with a plurality of ports. The spool has a plurality of lands that block the ports. When the spool is in the advance position, the plurality of lands allow fluid through the ports from the retard chamber to the advance chamber. When the spool is in the retard position, the plurality of lands allow fluid through the ports from the advance chamber to the retard chamber. When the spool is in the null position, the plurality of lands allow fluid from a source to the advance and retard chambers. When the spool is in the locked position, the plurality of lands allow fluid supplied to one of the advance chamber or the retard chamber to move the locking pin to a locked position.

  • Patent number: 7105041
Abstract: An electrical type grid electrostatic collector/separator removes particles from an air stream. The apparatus includes multiple parallel grids that act as the porous material, enclosed in a sealed compartment so that the entrained air flows parallel and between one or more centrally located grids. A direct current high voltage field is established between the grids with the polarities alternating between facing grids. Finer particles may be temporally collected on plate or grid assemblies that are located out of the airflow. When non-conductive particles are present, external methods of pre-charging by corona discharge are preferably used. When non-conductive particles are present, both internal and external methods of pre-charging by corona discharge are used with the external method being preferred.

  • Patent number: 7097579
Abstract: A pivoting chain guide and tensioner assembly for use with an endless chain loop comprising: at least one bracket plate, a tensioner attached to the at least one bracket plate, and a guide attached to the bracket plates. The bracket plate surrounds the chain at least partially between a driving and a driven sprocket and at least one of the plates has a hole for a pivot at a center axis. The tensioner comprises a tensioner arm with a chain sliding face for contacting the outside of the chain and a biasing means. The guide has a chain sliding face that contacts the outside of the chain. When a high local load is applied to the chain, the load is received by the end of the guide, forcing the guide to move away from the chain, such that the bracket plate pivots, moving the tensioner relative to the chain.

  • Patent number: 7072196
Abstract: A method for triggering a high voltage solid state switch comprised of a set of thyristors connected in series. Initiating switch turn-on requires command triggering of only the lowest voltage thyristor, thereby eliminating the need for expensive high voltage pulse transformers or optically isolated triggers. Triggering of one thyristor causes a redistribution of voltage across the switch, generating a current flowing through the snubber circuit across each untriggered thyristor. This current is coupled to the gate of each thyristor causing all of them to turn on simultaneously. This results in an inexpensive method for triggering a high voltage solid state switch.
