Abstract: A unified process which couples a unique in situ catalyst regeneration process with a continuous reactive distillation under pressure for the alkylation of light aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene with C2–C30 olefins using a solid acid alkylation catalyst supported in the reflux zone of a distillation column. Periodic regeneration of the catalyst is carried out with a countercurrent injection of a C4–C16 paraffin below the benzene rectification zone at the top of the column, but above the catalyst zone while the aromatic hydrocarbon reaction feedstock is injected continuously at a point above a rectification zone at the base of the column where the aromatic compound is separated from the paraffin and by-products washed from the catalyst. The use of the C4–C16 paraffin with the aromatic at a mole fraction in the range of 40 to 90% enables a regeneration temperature of about 175–250° C. to be achieved and maintained by adjusting the column pressure and aromatic reflux rate.

Abstract: A workstation providing multiple presentation angles for a visible display structure and a related working area structure. The display and working structures are adjustably mounted on a cabinet pedestal that houses electronic equipment connected with components carried by the display and working area structure. The cabinet pedestal is positioned against a wall below gauges and/or other materials mounted on the wall. When not being used, the working area structure closes over the visible display structure to provide a decorative cover over an enclosed area. The display and work structures are retractable to a compact standby position at the top of the cabinet, leaving certain of the wall-mounted materials visible over the top of the stored workstation. A recess provided between the back of the stored display and work structure accommodates certain wall mounted materials.
Abstract: The invention concerns an ultrasonic shaping instrument comprising: a mount structure (10), a sonotrode (14) elastically mounted on the mount structure (10), a tool (16) fixed to the sonotrode (14) for carrying out shaping operations, and a control member (12) for controlling and powering the sonotrode (14). The instrument is dimensioned so that the assembly consisting of the sonotrode (14) and the tool (16) has a resonance ultrasonic frequency fo, in a mode selected among traction-compression and torsion, variable between a lower limit fomin and an upper limit fomax, and it does not have itself any other resonance frequency in a range between a frequency fpmin<fomin and a frequency fpmax>fomax.
Abstract: A thermowell assembly (20) shown in FIG. 2 is positioned in a pipeline (10) for sensing the temperature of the fluid medium in the pipeline (10) for transmitting the sensed temperature to a meter (12). A temperature sensing probe is received within a temperature conducting tube (36) forming a thermowell and having a plurality of annular fins (40) extending thereabout. In the embodiments of FIGS. 1–7, a liquid (50) is provided in an annular space between the thermocouple (28) and the temperature conducting tube (36). Non-metallic members (70, 74, 80) are positioned between the pipeline (10) and the temperature transmitting tube (36) to isolate thermocouple (28) from ambient changes in the temperature of metal pipeline (10) which may result in an error in the temperature of the flow medium sensed by the thermowell assembly (20). High temperature embodiments shown in FIGS.

One or more thermal radiation sensors 14 are used in combination with a data acquisition and processing computer 20 and an output device, such as a video display 12. The thermal radiation is generated by sliding friction between the tubular members, and the sensors 14 sense radiation at a plurality of external locations and output heat intensity signals to the computer 20. Torque may also be sensed via a sensor 32 and input to the computer 20.
Abstract: A formation test tool 10 for obtaining a downhole fluid sample from a formation of interest 30 and returning the sample to the surface of a well includes a cylinder 12 forming a fluid sample chamber therein, and a piston 20 sealingly movable within the cylinder and separating the fluid sample from a cushioning fluid. A fluid line 24 connects the formation of interest to the fluid sample chamber, and a valve 26 controls fluid flow along the fluid line. In one embodiment, a magnet 76 supported on the piston outputs signals indicative of the position of the piston and thus the volume of the fluid sample within the cylinder. A meter 74 is movable along the exterior of the cylinder 12 for determining the position of the magnet within the cylinder, such that the volume of sampled fluid in the cylinder can be determined at the surface.
Abstract: An improved seasoning system 10, 11, 13 uniformly coats a food product with the desired amount of seasoning, with the seasoning rate preferably being controlled as a function of the product volume signals from the sensors 26, 34, 108 and 110.
