Abstract: A method of making coffee in a drip-type coffee maker includes adding heated water to a brew basket containing coffee grinds, allowing said water to accumulate within the brew basket, and at a predetermined moment opening an aperture in the brew basket to allow the water to drain. In a drip-type coffee maker the aperture in the brew basket has a closure. A controller is operable to move the aperture closure to the open position a predetermined moment after heated water is delivered to the brew basket. The predetermined moment may be when the water in the brew basket reaches a predetermined level, or a predetermined time after the coffee maker is activated.

Abstract: An electrically powered rotary solenoid drives a hydraulic pilot valve to actuate a hydraulic main valve. The pilot valve includes a seal carrier rotatable with respect to a seal plate. A carrier supply port and a plate supply port are centered about an axis of rotation to remain in fluid communication during rotation. A carrier function port and plate function port are spaced from the axis of rotation, such that they may be selectively placed in fluid communication to pass fluid to actuate the main valve. When actuated, the main valve passes fluid pressure to one or more hydraulically actuated components.
Abstract: A composition for removing paraffin, wax, or asphaltine deposits from the surface of a crude oil transmission system, such as a downhole tubular, a pipeline, or a surface tank, includes an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution containing from 18% to 25% by weight sodium hydroxide. The composition further includes an acetic acid solution containing from 30% to 55% by weight acetic acid compared to the sodium hydroxide, and a liquid aromatic hydrocarbon having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms and from 15% to 40% by weight compared to the sodium hydroxide. According to the method of the invention, the aqueous sodium hydroxide solution may be metered in a downhole tubular or a pipeline separate from the acetic acid solution, such that heat generated by the mixed composition is generated within the downhole tubular or the pipeline.

In one embodiment, the system includes a temperature sensor and a flow sensor for inputting signals to the controller.
Abstract: A coordinated system is provided whereby a subscriber or registrant may register with a specific merchant or a service which ties a plurality of merchants together. Preferences with the merchant or system are expressed and recorded in the system. Then, as items filling those preferences are purchased, a record is maintained of such purchases, and the orders are filled over a preselected period of time.
Abstract: A fluid injection system controls the distribution of fluid from a supply line to a selected well at an adjustable rate. A fluid barrier divides a cylinder into first and second chambers. A multi-position valve comprises a first position for passing fluid from the supply line into the first chamber to displace fluid from the second chamber back through the valve to an injection point, and a second position for passing fluid from the supply line to the second chamber to displace fluid from the first chamber back through the valve to the injection point. A control system in communication with a position sensor times displacement of the fluid barrier to selected positions, and selectively adjusts a variable valve opening to adjust flow rate, switch between the first and second positions, and periodically increase the valve opening for cleaning.
