Patent number: 7233401Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring wafers, thin films, or other planar layers are disclosed. This invention utilizes a tunable, monochromatic light source reflected from or transmitted through the layer to be measured. The wavelengths of light are selected such that the light is partially transmitted through the material to be measured so as optical interference is seen among the interfaces of the layer(s). The wavelengths are also controlled to sufficiently small increments to resolve these interference features. This apparatus relates to the need to monitor wafer thinning, film deposition, and other semiconductor device related processes.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Foothill Instruments, LLCInventor: Glenn Houser

Patent number: 7231336Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is provided a method for performing a glitch check in simulating a circuit. Current maximum and minimum values for optimization parameters of the circuit are determined. Next, a signal pulse characteristic for the circuit simulation is determined based on the maximum and minimum optimization parameters. A current averaged optimization parameter is determined from the current maximum and minimum optimization parameters. A prime criterion parameter is calculated based on the optimization parameters and the signal pulse characteristic value. If the prime criterion parameter converges into a specified range then measurement results from the circuit simulation are parsed and reported as final. If the prime criterion parameter does not converge, then the process continues by recalculating the optimization parameters until the prime criterion parameter converges.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2003Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Legend Design Technology, Inc.Inventors: You-Pang Wei, Yuhung Liao, Mingchi Liu, YuJiao Ping

Patent number: 7228341Abstract: A method for facilitating the electronic scheduling for playback of a variety of media such as music or video is disclosed. In the described system, discrete items of content (such as music or video) are scheduled for play back based upon a schedule created by the integration of five standard scheduling methods into a single comprehensive scheduling algorithm. In the first scheduling method a discrete item of content is assigned a frequency rating relative to other items of content. A second way to schedule is called recurring playback. In the recurring method, a particular item of content is scheduled to repeat at specific intervals of time. Intervals can be in terms of minutes, hours or days. A third scheduling method allows the content to be played according to a time base, that is, media content can be scheduled to play at a specific date and time. The forth type of input to the scheduling system is a trigger event which is received from a source external to the scheduling system.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2001Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Inventor: Louis D. Patent number: 7203918Abstract: A method for performing a signal integrity and delay check for circuit simulations is disclosed. Nodes of the circuit are selected and an optimization parameter is determined. The optimization parameter may be either the setup or hold time for the circuit simulation. The current optimization parameter is determined to be the average of the current minimum and maximum optimization parameters. A primary criteria is calculated in response to the optimization parameters. The primary criteria may be a bisection error of the circuit simulation. If the primary criteria converges to a prescribed range, then the measurement results from the simulation are parsed. If the primary criteria does not converge, then the circuit is simulated using the current optimization parameter. For a signal integrity check, switch difference errors are identified and used to set a new optimization parameter. For a delay check, delay difference errors are identified and used to set a new optimization parameter.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2004Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: Legend Design Technology, Inc.Inventors: You-Pang Wei, George (Yuhung) Liao, Mickie (Mingchi) Liu, Yu-Jiao Ping

Patent number: 7196691Abstract: Systems for initiating the execution of a macro by simultaneously depressing multiple keys and for reducing the misclassification of keyboard input by distinguishing between rollovers in normal typing and the simultaneous depression of two keys. Only keystrokes that follow a pause are considered candidates for macro initiation. Keystrokes not separated by a pause are dispatched to the operating system for normal processing. If a user types in a normal fashion, no macro is recognized, and the user experiences no unexpected behavior. A user dictionary of macro definitions is used to determine whether the first keystroke is part of a macro input pair.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2002Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Inventor: Bruce Martin Zweig

Patent number: 7149928Abstract: The present invention, generally speaking, “instruments” an arbitrary software program, without changing the software program, to automate malfunction detection and reporting. Although users can be invited to enter a description of what the user was doing prior to receiving the error, report generation and transmission to a remote server can be fully automatic and transparent to the user. In the case of beta testing, therefore, a software developer is guaranteed to receive all pertinent information about malfunctions of an application without having to rely on “fallible humans” for this information. The effectiveness of beta testing, in terms of ultimately contributing to an improved product, is therefore greatly increased. Various kinds of malfunctions may be detected and reported, including an application “crashing,” becoming “hung,” etc.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2002Date of Patent: December 12, 2006Assignee: Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Inc.Inventor: Ron van Os
