  • Patent number: 8327524
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an inductive component whose soft magnetic core is produced by pouring a casting resin into a mold filled with a soft magnetic alloy powder and by subsequently hardening the casting resin with the alloy powder in order to form a solid soft magnetic core. This technique prevents the surface insulation of the alloy particles from becoming damaged, thereby largely preventing the formation of bulky eddy currents in the resulting soft magnetic cores. This enables a distinct reduction in the electric loss of the inductive component.

Abstract: An aerosol generator device for delivering an aerosol of a nicotine salt is provided. The aerosol generator comprises: (i) a mouth end; (ii) a first chamber containing a porous material wetted with liquid nicotine, (iii) a second chamber containing a porous material wetted with a solution of a volatile acid, (iv) a third chamber in fluid communication with the first and second chambers, leading to the mouth end, and (v) an outer housing defining a passageway for air through said device. A nicotine vapor can be produced by drawing air along the passageway and through the porous material wetted with liquid nicotine. An acid vapor can be produced by passing air along the passageway and through the porous material wetted with a solution of a volatile acid. Then, the nicotine vapor and the acid vapor can be admixed in the third chamber to form an aerosol of a nicotine salt, which can be drawn out through the mouth end.

  • Patent number: 8327441
Abstract: An instrumented machine or platform having a target application thereon is disclosed. An attestation service may generate an application artifact having associated therewith a name and an application statement having at least one of a plurality of attribute value assertions describing the examined runtime local execution and introspection based derived security context. The application statements may represent the level of contextual trustworthiness, at near real time, of a running application on the instrumented target platform. A runtime process and network monitor may examine the local runtime execution context of the target application, and an identity provider may authenticate a user to the web application based on a web services query for attestation of the target application.

  • Patent number: 8325060
Abstract: Meter nodes in a power line carrier (PLC) network may reliably communicate with an access point by alternate routes using additional media where available. A utility network may include one or more subnetworks. Each subnetwork may include one or more meter nodes and an access point configured to communicate with the meter nodes using PLC. Meter nodes operate as relays for other meter nodes to communicate with the access point. Some or all meter nodes may be configured to communicate using a power line carrier communications link and another communications link. The network may also include a node external to the subnetwork, e.g., a utility server. The access point may be configured to communicate with the node external to the subnetwork in addition to the meter nodes.

  • Patent number: 8326650
Abstract: The present invention is made to provide a safe and efficient blood glucose measuring device capable of collectively performing blood glucose measurement process and collectively performing insulin administration process on many patients, while ruling out the risk of misidentification and misprescription among the patients. When having read a patient ID with a patient ID reading section, a control section identifies a record of the patient of a measurement/administration results table. The control section does not perform blood glucose measurement on the patient of the identified record which shows that a blood glucose measurement flag is “true” and an insulin administration confirmation flag is “false”, and displays an insulin dosage on a display unit with respect to the patient by referring to a prescription information table based on the blood glucose level has been measured.

  • Patent number: 8326474
Abstract: We provide a method for operating a navigation system for a motor vehicle in a road network, and to a navigation system. To this end, first a zone of the road network is provided with an emissions class-dependent drive-through restriction, wherein the motor vehicle is associated with at least one emissions class. First, information about the geographical location of the zone and about the emissions class at least required there is stored in the navigation system. Then, information about the at least one emissions class of the motor vehicle is entered into the navigation system. Thereafter, the information entered is considered in the destination guidance process, wherein destination guidance into or through the zone is avoided if the at least one emissions class of the motor vehicle is affected by emissions class-dependent drive-through restrictions in the zone.

  • Patent number: 8324062
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a power semiconductor device is provided. A first oxide layer is produced on a first main side of a substrate of a first conductivity type. A structured gate electrode layer with at least one opening is then formed on the first main side on top of the first oxide layer. A first dopant of the first conductivity type is implanted into the substrate on the first main side using the structured gate electrode layer as a mask, and the first dopant is diffused into the substrate. A second dopant of a second conductivity type is then implanted into the substrate on the first main side, and the second dopant is diffused into the substrate. After diffusing the first dopant into the substrate and before implanting the second dopant into the substrate, the first oxide layer is partially removed. The structured gate electrode layer can be used as a mask for implanting the second dopant.
