Abstract: A device for releasing a volatile substance into an environment in a controlled/metered manner. A reservoir made of a substance-absorbent material that is impregnated with a volatile substance in its liquid phase is located in a cavity open at the front surface of a container body made of a material non-permeable to the substance. A wood or wood-type panel permeable to the substance covers the cavity. A clip may be fixed to the back surface of the container body so that the device may be secured to a mounting surface. The device may be packaged with skin pack film such that a vapor barrier is formed, preserving/storing the substance until such time as opened/activated by the consumer. When activated, a volatilization mechanism is initiated wherein the panel absorbs the substance from the reservoir, the substance is introduced to ambient air, volatilized, released and, finally, dispersed throughout an environment.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is an improved closing wheel attachment mechanism which has longer wear life than that of the typical attachment mechanism. The closing wheel arm on an agricultural planter has installed thereon an improved grease bushing assembly which has increased wear surface and the capability to utilize a grease on the surface. The combination of increased wear surface and greasing will greatly increase the operational life of the planter. Also included in the invention is the process and fixturing to incorporate the improved configuration on to an existing planter closing wheel structure. Included in this attachment mechanism is a welding jig which assures proper alignment of the improved bushing assembly.

Abstract: An earthworking wheel for closing a seed trench made by a planter has an annular low friction body having circumferentially spaced outwardly directed teeth. A pair of hubs clamped onto opposite sides of the body accommodate a bearing for rotatably supporting the wheel on an axle.

Abstract: A hand held sharpener has two slots to selectively accommodate the blades of ice hockey skates. A two-piece body having stepped inside housing walls accommodate different diameter and length abrading stones. Fasteners releasably holding the members of the body together can be loosened to allow the different stones to be interchanged.

Abstract: Row crop cultivator rolling shields mounted on an arm pivotally connected to a support extended rearwardly from a tool bar prevents soil moved by earth working tools from covering and damaging row crops. Each shield has a dish shaped body having a number of arcuate segments. Each segment has angularly disposed parts providing the body with a circumferential wave-like structure. A roller bearing secured to the central porion of the body mounts the shield on an axle mounted on the arm.

Abstract: A method and test device are disclosed for detecting under field conditions unidentified antigenic substances which are detrimental to human or animal health or welfare. A sample solution containing the suspected unidentified antigenic substance is added to the test device containing a known antigenic substance which is irreversibly attached to a solid support and suspended in a buffer solution along with an antibody specific to the known antigenic substance conjugated with a detecting agent. After incubation to bind the unknown antigenic substance to the conjugate, the solution contacts a white porous bibulous sheet incorporating a substrate for the detecting agent and a chromogen, which is part of the test device. If the identity of the sample antigen is the same as that on the solid support, a color reaction takes place.

Abstract: A back brace for providing back support to the lumbar region of a wearer. The back brace includes a band that wraps around the torso region of a person in covering relationship to the region of the iliac crests. The base has accommodation panels attached to it that cover the iliac crest regions and accommodate the protuberance thereof in order to provide a better fit on the body. In one embodiment, the base includes an elastic band and the panels are of an inelastic material. In another embodiment, the brace includes a waist band that is of an inelastic material, and the accommodation panels covering the iliac crests are formed of an elastic material.
