  • Patent number: 4551663
Abstract: A level control device is disclosed comprising a paddle on a rotary shaft projecting from a housing, a carrier disc coupled to the shaft and supporting a plurality of torque-transmitting levers having first arms engageable by drive pins or an apertured drive disc on an output shaft of an electric motor, an axially movable control plate biased toward the carrier by spring means which also cause the control plate to rotate with the carrier, the levers having second arms disposed between the carrier and the control plate for moving the control plate away from the carrier when the driving torque transmitted by the first arms increases due to increasing drag on the paddle caused by rising granular material coming into contact with the paddle, and a control switch operable by the movement of the control plate away from the carrier. The position of the switch is adjustable to provide a sensitivity adjustment. A slip clutch may be provided between the carrier and the paddle shaft.

  • Patent number: 4543454
Abstract: In each of the two disclosed switches, an electrically conductive contactor plate is mounted on an insulating carriage, slidable in a casing along a path which is parallel with first and second parallel contact bars, mounted on an insulating wall of the casing. The contactor plate has first and second contact points for slidably engaging the contact bars during a portion of the movement of the contactor plate. During the remainder of such movement, the contact points slidably engage insulating boss portions which project from the insulating wall and are flush with the contact bars. The contactor plate has a third contact point projecting therefrom and slidable along an insulating ridge projecting from the insulating wall and disposed between the contact bars. The insulating ridge is flush with the contact bars for slidably supporting the third contact point while keeping it from engaging the contact bars. The insulating ridge is also flush with and connects with the insulating boss portions.

  • Patent number: 4514822
Abstract: A device for digital acquisition, storage and processing of time-dependent data signals, especially for the accumulation of interferograms delivered by spin resonance and infrared spectrometers, comprises an A/D converter; a main memory having random access; a disk storage; a data channel connecting the A/D converter with the main memory which data channel contains a pointer register and a word counter and carries out the direct transfer of words delivered by the A/D converter to that area of the main memory indicated by the contents of the pointer register, the number of words being defined by the contents of the word counter; and a central unit which loads the pointer register and the word counter at the beginning of each measurement period and activates the transfer of word blocks from the main memory to the disk storage and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4512236
Abstract: The invention relates to a sound dampened automatic hand firearm provided with silencing means for the firing of projectiles at a muzzle velocity in the subsonic speed range. In order to reduce also the breechblock noise during shot release, in addition to the muzzle noise and the projectile boom, a locking lever (18) is provided for locking the closed breechblock during discharge of the weapon. Preferably, the locking lever (18) is pivotable about an axis (19) oriented transversely to the barrel axis (24) and is held out of engagement by a spring (20). Associated with the trigger system is a catch (15) which causes the locking lever (18) to be pivoted into the locking position as the trigger (6) is being pulled. The catch (15) is pivotably mounted on the trigger (6).

  • Patent number: 4508302
Abstract: The invention relates to a furniture fitting having a grooved loop-shaped guideway for guiding an equipment supporting plate in a generally vertical direction and locking it in at least two positions at different elevations. Means are provided for preventing a guide pin from entering at least one of the two guideway branches from the undesired direction. The invention resides in the sections (28, 35, 40, 29, 51, 52, 48) of the grooved guideway being provided with steps having steeply rising surfaces (33, 38, 41, 43, 53), the pin end (32) moving in the grooved guideway being urged against the bottom of the groove by spring means (21, 62), and the rising surfaces of the steps forming stops for the pin end (32) in one direction of movement.

  • Patent number: 4507654
Abstract: A security device for determining the opening or closed condition of an access gate, such as a door or window hinged within an opening in a wall, has a detector unit mounted on the wall adjacent to the opening and linked to a remote control unit by a radio transmitter in the detection unit and a radio receiver in the control unit. The detection unit has an infrared generator and an infrared detector isolated from the generator, the detector and generator confronting a reflector mounted on the access gate when the access gate is closed. The reflector is translated from the field of the infrared generator when the access gate is open. The infrared generator is excited by a pulse generator to produce pulses of infrared radiation, and the scattered radiation from the reflector is detected by the infrared detector to produce electrical pulses coincident with the pulse generator.

  • Patent number: 4502394
Abstract: In a table comprising a table-top that can be adjusted in height and/or inclination relative to the trestle, and a spring arrangement provided between the trestle and the table-top and serving to counterbalance the weight of the table, the table-top (6) is connected to the trestle at its rear edge by disengageable stops and at its front edge by clamps. The spring arrangement comprises a torsion bar spring (11) mounted preferably on the trestle (1) and provided with at least two radial arms (15, 21) bearing against the trestle (1) and the lower face of the table-top (6), respectively. Such a spring arrangement is of particularly simple design and requires only little space. Further, the torsion bar spring offers a favorable spring characteristic. A particularly soft spring effect can be achieved by the use of a stack of leaf springs (31) as torsion bar spring.

  • Patent number: 4500782
Abstract: In the calibration of ion cyclotron resonance spectrometers there may be used the first upper sideband of the resonance frequency of known sample substances because it was found that the frequency of the first upper sideband is approximately equal to the true cyclotron resonance frequency .omega..sub.c =(q/m)B. If only one line is available for the calibration, the frequency .omega..sub.R of the first upper sideband is set equal to the true cyclotron resonace frequency .omega..sub.c in the relation ##EQU1## which is used for calibration. If multiple lines are available, a more exact calibration is possible by using the relation ##EQU2## where .omega..sub.cor is a correction frequency. The effective resonance frequency .omega..sub.eff is separated from the upper sideband by a value .DELTA..omega. which, in a good approximation, is independent of m/q.
