Abstract: In an encoder signal interpolation divider (1) that automatically corrects errors in the offset and gain of an input signal at a high speed with a low cost circuit configuration, and can accurately generate an encoder signal having a predetermined resolution by interpolation division, analog input signals (A1, B1) are subjected to offset correction by a 0-point correction circuit (13) in adders (4, 5) prior to being digitally converted by A/D converters (8, 9), and are subjected to gain correction by an amplitude correction circuit (14) in amplifiers (6, 7). The corrected analog signals are converted to digital values, angle data is calculated in an angle data lookup table (10), and, based on these results, an encoder pulse signal having a predetermined resolution is generated and output from an encoder pulse signal generating circuit (12).
Abstract: An electrode lead, which is used as an implantable electrode lead and a symptom of disconnection of which can be found and detected at an early stage before complete disconnection. Also, an implantable medical instrument which uses this electrode lead safely is provided. More specifically, in an implantable electrode lead obtained by connecting conductor wires 23 and 27 with large electrical resistances and conductor wires 20 and 26 with small electrical resistances parallel to each other, when one of the low-strength conductor wires 20 and 26 is disconnected, a change in electrical resistance of the implantable electrode lead can be detected and informed. Hence, a symptom before total disconnection of the implantable electrode lead can be detected.
Abstract: Provided is a memory device formed using quantum devices and a method for manufacturing the same. A memory device comprises a substrate; a source region and a drain region formed in the substrate so as to be separated from each other by a predetermined interval; a memory cell which is formed on the surface of the substrate to connect the source region and the drain region, and has a plurality of nano-sized quantum dots filled with material for storing electrons; and a control gate which is formed on the memory cell and controls the number of electrons stored in the memory cell. It is possible to embody a highly efficient and highly integrated memory device by providing a memory device having nano-sized quantum dots and a method for manufacturing the same.
Abstract: A tool intended for chip removing machining includes a holder and a cutting insert which have respective connecting surfaces arranged to engage each other and define an interface. A ridge having a tapering cross-sectional shape is formed in one of the connecting surfaces, and a groove having a tapering cross-sectional shape is formed in the other connecting surface, which groove receives the ridge. Both of the ridge and groove are in the shape of curves as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the respective connecting surface. The curve shape may be circular, elliptical, or polygonal.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for in vitro diagnosis of an infection by human cytomegaloviruses. The process consists of contacting cells, possibly carrying the infection, with a monoclonal antibody reacting with a polypeptide of molecular weight 68,000, induced by human cytomegalovirus and which possesses a protein-kinase activity. The detection of the reaction is preferably carried out by immunofluorescence.

Abstract: A track pin bushing for cooperating with a track pin in an endless track has a tubular body with a metallurgically bonded wear-resistant coating and a method for forming such a coated track pin bushing is taught herein. The tubular body, formed of an iron-based alloy, has an outer surface that is carburized and quenched, i.e., case-hardened, in at least a section thereof. At least a portion of the case hardened section has been removed to a depth sufficient to expose a non-carburized layer of the iron-based alloy. A hard metal alloy slurry is disposed on the non-carburized layer and forms a metallurgical bond between the non-carburized layer and the coated unfused slurry by fusing the hard metal alloy. The thickness of the unfused slurry is adjusted to be from 1.67 to 2.0 times a final thickness of the wear-resistant coating. The wear-resistant coating comprises a fused, metal alloy comprising at least 60% iron, cobalt, nickel, or alloys thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to an absorbent product, such as a diaper or an incontinence garment, comprising a casing, an outer side of the casing being distal from the body of the wearer in use of the garment and an inner side being proximal to the body of the wearer in use of the garment, said casing having a front part, a rear part and a crotch part lying between the front and rear parts, the casing comprising an absorbent structure, whereby the absorbent product further comprises a fastening system, for attaching opposing side portions of the front and rear parts to each other, comprising at least two cooperating fastening elements, wherein the first element functions as a landing zone for the second element, characterized in that the first element comprises at least one skewing-preventing part, which skewing-preventing part prevents the front and rear parts to slide relative one another, as it adheres to the inner part.
Abstract: A data processing system is provided that comprises a special-purpose processing unit (VU), a general-purpose processing unit that is suited to general-purpose data processing unit (PU) and a fetch unit for supplying a special-purpose instruction to the VU and supplying a general-purpose instruction to the PU, wherein the PU is equipped with a first mode for operating based on a first instruction from the fetch unit and a second mode for operating based on a second instruction from the VU. The resources of the PU are made available for use by the VU so that the resources of the PU can be used by the VU with effectively no overheads being required by the transfer of data between the VU and the PU. As a result, a processor with even greater flexibility and faster processing can be provided.
Abstract: An SDRAM access control section activates a row of an SDRAM when a request is made to access the row in the continuous access mode. The SDRAM access control section outputs a read command or a write command to the SDRAM 300 when a request is made to access the SDRAM 300, without deactivating the accessed row, until a detection signal that detects the last column is asserted. The SDRAM access control section deactivates the accessed row when the detection signal is asserted.
Abstract: An absorbent product, such as a sanitary towel, includes a stiffening element (6) which is intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the product during its use. The stiffening element (6) is in a plane state before use of the product and has a stiffness in the dry state of in the order of 1-15 N measured according to ASTM D 4032-82. The stiffening element has a width at the transition between the crotch portion (3) and the front portion (1) on the sanitary towel which is adapted to the distance between the muscle tendons of the wearer on both sides of the crotch of the wearer in the groin of the latter and which is of the order of 15-45 mm. The product has different stiffness along a center line extending in the longitudinal direction thereof, as a result of which the product is predestined to curve in predetermined places along the center line when the product is fitted on the wearer.
Abstract: An absorbent article has two side edges (9, 10), two end edges (11, 12), a liquid-permeable surface layer (2), a liquid-tight surface layer (3), and an absorption body (4) arranged between the surface layers (2, 3). The absorption body (4) includes at least one intermediate storage part (22–25) arranged along a side edge (9, 10), in direct contact with a liquid transfer part (26). The liquid transfer part (26) has a higher liquid affinity than the intermediate storage layer, so the liquid transfer layer drains from the intermediate storage part (22–25) better than the intermediate storage part (22–25) drains liquid from the liquid transfer part (26).
Abstract: A door lock system for a vehicle includes a) a latch mechanism which is adapted to a vehicle door and which holds the vehicle door to a vehicle body, b) an open link which is engagable and disengagable with the latch mechanism, c) a swing lever which is connected to the open link, d) an electric driving source having a gear member, and e) a rotary gear member which is arranged between the swing lever and the electric driving source so as to be meshed with the gear member of the electric driving source. The rotary gear member is directly and engagably connected to the swing lever.
Abstract: A rotatable cutting tool for chip-removing machining includes a basic body which defines a center axis of rotation. Cutting inserts are detachably mounted in respective cutting seats that are formed in the basic body. Each insert has a square shape and includes first and second pairs of mutually parallel major cutting edges, four corners, and four wiper edges. Each wiper edge is situated between a major cutting edge and a respective corner. The wiper edges are shorter than the major cutting edges and are inclined relative thereto, wherein an imaginary extension line of the wiper edge forms a first acute angle with the respective major cutting edge as the insert is viewed in a direction perpendicular to the top surface. The cutting seats are arranged to orient the inserts wherein an axially forwardmost wiper edge of each insert lies in a plane oriented perpendicular to the axis, and wherein a radially outermost wiper edge of each insert is oriented parallel to the axis.
Abstract: A gas stream containing e.g. molecular hydrogen is used for the regeneration of a catalyst for NOx and SO2 removal from the flue gas of a gas turbine. In order to reduce the consumption of regeneration gas, the gas inlet is located between the SCOSOx catalyst (2) and the SCONOx catalyst (3). The regeneration gas leaves the catalyst chamber upstream of the SCOSOx catalyst and is recycled. For the regeneration of the SCONOx catalyst and to keep SO2 containing gas from entering the SCONOx catalyst, a second regeneration gas inlet is located downstream of the SCONOx catalyst. The regeneration gas entering the catalyst chamber through this port passes the SCONOx (3) and the SCOSOx catalyst (2). The direction of the flow in the SCONOx catalyst can also be reversed. In another example, regeneration gas outlets are located both upstream of the SCOSOx and downstream of the SCONOx catalyst. But, only the regeneration gas from the SCONOx catalyst is recycled.
Abstract: Methods for spatially resolved spin resonance detection in a sample of material, with a resolution as small as 0.5 ? m –1 mm. In one embodiment, a coupler having at least one pair of degenerate orthogonal modes provides an evanescent input signal along one coupler axis to the sample, to which a magnetic field is applied, and senses a spin interaction signal along another coupler axis. In another embodiment, an evanescent input signal is applied to the sample along one of two identical transmission line resonators, and a difference of the two resonator signals provides a spin interaction signal. In another embodiment, a polarized laser beam provides an evanescent input signal to the sample, and the spin interaction signal is sensed according to a second beam polarization direction. Certain ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic molecules, such as YIG, can be used to tag selected chemical and biological molecules, using spatially resolved spin resonance detection for interrogation.

Abstract: Provided is a novel high octane summer gasoline composition which is substantially free of oxygenates, and is in compliance with the California Predictive Model. The gasoline composition is suitable for use in the summer, i.e., having a Reid vapor pressure of 7.0 or less. The method for blending the gasoline comprises blending streams from a refinery in a controlled manner to maintain compliance with the California Predictive Model.
