Abstract: The invention concerns an electronic device such as a smart card which includes at least a microcircuit embedded in a carrier medium and which includes exit hubs linked to interface elements composed of a terminal block and/or an antenna. The connections between the exit hubs and the interface elements are made by depositing a low-viscosity conducting substance which remains flexible after its application, using a syringe or similar device. Preferably, a polymer resin charged with conducting or intrinsically conducting particles is used for the connections.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for detecting foreign substances in a thread using a detector which line-scans the thread, the latter being lit by an illumination element. The aim of the invention is to provide a means of continuously testing the thread with good resolution and at a high speed. To this end, the inventive device consists of a compact unit made up of a sensor or a detector, an objective and an illumination element. These elements have a common axis and the illumination element enables the thread to be illuminated with a very high light intensity. To this end, the illumination element (1) is hemispherical and has light sources which are distributed across the hemisphere (5).
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cutting tool insert comprising a substrate and a coating including at least one layer of TiB2. The TiB2-layer has a fibrous microstructure where the grains are 5-50 nm, preferably 10-30 nm, in diameter and a length more than 250 mu, preferably more than 400 nm long, with a length to diameter ratio, l/d>2, preferably >5, and oriented essentially perpendicularly to the surface of the substrate.
Abstract: A cutting insert for milling cam shafts includes first and second surface interconnected by a third surface, and at least one cutting edge. The cutting edge includes a straight first cutting edge section, a straight second cutting edge section, and a generally convex third cutting edge section, all adjoining one another. The first section extends along the junction between the first and third surfaces. The second section extends along the junction and includes a first end adjoining an end of the first section. The second is inclined at an obtuse angle from one end of the first section in a direction away from the third surface. The third section extends along the junction and adjoins a second end of the second section. The third section is of generally convex shape and extends over an angular range greater than 90°. The first, second and third sections lie in the third surface.
Abstract: A vehicle door lock apparatus includes a lever mechanism directly connected with a key cylinder provided at the outside door handle for locking and unlocking the vehicle door in response to rotation operation of the key cylinder. The lever mechanism is provided with a key rotor directly connected with the key cylinder, and a key lever directly connected with the key rotor. An input shaft of the lever mechanism formed by the key rotor is inclinable relative to an output shaft of the lever mechanism formed by the key lever, and this inclination is absorbed through the connection between the key rotor and the key lever.
Abstract: A method of welding together the ends of outer pipe sections (16A, 16B) of pipe-in-pipe pipeline to be laid on a seabed employs an annular member (5) interposed between adjacent lengths of pipe. The annular member comprises a first axial part (11) which fits within the end of the first outer pipe section, and a flange part (12) which is interposed between the adjacent ends of the two lengths of outer pipe sections (16A, 16B) to be joined. The flange part (12) of the annular member (5) projects radially outwardly beyond the inside of the outer pipe sections (16A, 16B) and terminates radially inwardly of the outside of the outer pipe sections (16A, 16B), and provides some of the welding material for the joint.
Abstract: A resin filled board is manufactured by forming roughened surfaces on a conductive layer in a throughhole before it is filled with a resin, forming smooth surfaces on conductive layers on the top and bottom of the board, printing the resin using a mask having an opening at a position corresponding to the throughhole to selectively fill the resin in the throughhole, and curing the resin. In this way, the surface of the conductive layer around the throughhole is smoothed, so that hardly any of the resin remains on the surfaces near the throughhole when the surfaces of the board is mechanically polished after the resin is cured. Also, the filling resin will not fall down into the throughhole.
Abstract: The invention concerns insecticide compositions comprising: (a) between 0.001 and 5%, preferably between 0.05 and 1% of a compound of the type 1-phenyl pyrazole, in particular 1-[2,6-Cl24-CF3 phenyl]3-CN 4-[SO—CF3]5-NH2 pyrazole; and (b) between 0.05 and 10%, preferably between 0.1 and 5% of one (or several) moisture retaining agent of the organic type; and (c) between 40 and 99%, preferably between 50 and 98% (and more preferably between 70 and 97%) of vegetable flour. The invention also concerns a method for fighting insects using said compositions, in particular against click beetles.

Abstract: A spiral conveyor with automatic flow control includes a plurality of curved segments connected to form a spiral for the flow by gravity of articles from an upper level to a lower level. Each of the segments includes freely rotating skate wheels forming a conveying surface and a controlled, powered cylindrical roller. A sensor mounted in each segment senses the presence of an article in the segment. A controller receives the signals from the sensors and activates the associated roller for transport mode to assist articles through the conveyor if the path is clear, or if the downstream portion of the conveyor is blocked, to reverse the roller for accumulate mode to hold articles in the segment until the path is cleared.
Abstract: An apparatus for producing hollow bodies, in particular bottles and similar containers provided with an evacuation opening, of thermoplastic includes a lower machine part and a beamlike upper machine part. The lower machine part is equipped with at least two blow molds, each provided with a cavity. A number of blowing and calibration mandrels corresponding to the number of blow molds is disposed on the beamlike upper machine part disposed above the lower machine part. One blow mold is assigned to each blowing and calibration mandrel. The blowing and calibration mandrels can be axially fed jointly toward the blow molds and can be moved with their calibration region into an orifice of the cavity until an annular shoulder of the blowing and calibration mandrels comes into contact with a counterpart face on the associated blow mold. The blowing and calibration mandrels are retained axially freely movably, within predeterminable limits, in the upper machine part.
Abstract: Ink jet printing paper carries a pigment coating comprising (a) a major proportion of a finely divided precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) having a surface area of at least 60 m2g?1, preferably 80 to 90 m2g?1 (b) a minor proportion of a gel-type silica and (c) binder. The silica is preferably present in an amount of 15 to 30% by weight of the total dry weight of silica and PCC. The pigment coating is preferably made up as an aqueous composition having a solids content of 25 to 35% and a Brookfield viscosity of 150 to 2000 mPa s and applied by a blade coating technique.

Abstract: Primary hydroxyl groups in a substrate having both primary and secondary hydroxyl groups can be selectively oxidized to carbaldehyde and/or carboxyl groups by contacting the substrate with a cyclic nitroxyl compound in the presence of a peroxosulfate as a co-oxidant and by carrying out the reaction at a temperature below 30° C. and at a pH below 9. The process is halogen-free and metal-free and is especially suitable for oxidizing polysaccharides.
Abstract: A new and distinct highly ornamental cultivar of Syringa reticulata Japanese Tree Lilac is provided. The Lilac plant has an upright compact growth habit. The foliage possesses variegation that initially is green with an irregular darker green center wherein the margins turn to a stable bright yellow-gold coloration upon maturity. The blossoms are white and are displayed during late spring to early summer. Good winter hardiness is made possible and the plant has been found to be free of insect and disease problems. The plant is particularly well-suited for providing distinctive ornamentation in the landscape.
