  • Patent number: 4389056
Abstract: A motorized wheelchair tie-down system has been developed for use in vehicles by wheelchair bound driver or passenger. This system provides for automatic securement of the wheelchair to the vehicle by operation of a switch. The switch powers a motor causing a linkage system to lower a rear bar on the wheelchair into an anchor while a pivoting anchor carries the forward portion of the wheelchair into a locked position.

  • Patent number: 4369956
Abstract: A self-centering fixture makes use of an air actuated motor which is drivingly rotated in one direction. The fixture has a pair of levers pivoted to a base. As the motor is actuated, a cam positioned between the longer arms of each lever rotates and acts to move the longer arms apart. Thus, on the other side of the pivot, jaws on the shorter arms move towards one another to grasp the workpiece. The workpiece is released by reversely activating the motor. Since the cam is counteracted by springs which pull the long ends together, the jaws open.

  • Patent number: 4361027
Abstract: An improvement in a measuring apparatus for the quantitative determination of a component of a gas sample. The apparatus takes a charge of a predetermined volume of the gas mixture into a metering pump which then pushes it through the absorption unit which adsorbs or absorbs a component of the gas. A probe is used for the intake of the gas and the probe has in the region of its intake opening a thermocouple. In addition, from the cable leading from the thermocouple a reference sensing device such as a second thermocouple is placed in differential connection. A single converter is used for indication of the temperature value and a microcomputer may be used to substantially automate the process.

  • Patent number: 4350362
Abstract: A self-centering trailer hitch includes a housing intended to be secured to either a tractor or trailer, with a guide tube laterally pivotally supported on the housing, an extensible and retractable tongue is telescoped into the tube, cooperable cam wedges and rollers on the housing and tongue urge the tongue and tube to a centered towing position as the tractor is backed toward the trailer, and detent means automatically lock the tube and the tongue in centered towing positions. The tongue may also be centered and locked for towing following connection of the hitch by moving the tractor ahead to align the tongue with the centerline of the vehicles and then backing the tractor toward the trailer until the detent locks the parts together.

  • Patent number: 4346000
Abstract: Reactor for anaerobic prefermentation of aqueous waste waters provided with a waste water inlet, an outlet for discharging prefermented waste water and a sludge outlet. The interior of the reactor comprises one first reactor space and one second reactor space, while a precipitation cone is suspended by ribs between the first and second space. A covering sheet extends from the wall of the reactor into the precipitation cone, said covering sheet being provided with a gas escaping tube which ends above the upper edge of precipitation cone. The reactor is further provided with a storage vessel for supplying basic substances to the second reactor space. The outlet debouches into an annular precipitation space having an annular partition; the precipitation space is further bounded by an annular overflow with tooth-shaped recesses. At last a protein removing line and a liquid drain-cock are present.

  • Patent number: 4345964
Abstract: Described is an apparatus for the application of a thin non-woven web of glass or mineral fibers onto corrugated sheet perpendicularly to the corrugation which comprises a rectangular frame open at the top and bottom and having parallel vertical walls, wherein the frame is provided with wheels and supported on rails above the sheet material which is supported by a matrix on working-level above the floor and coated with a layer of a solidifying glue. An applicator plate is mounted vertically movable in guideways at two opposite walls of the frame and adapted with its bottom edge to follow the corrugations of the sheet to bring the fibrous web into close contact with the glue-coated sheet. Because of the delicacy of the fibrous web of material, the lower end of the applicator plate which is adapted to press the web of material against the sheet, must be rounded.

  • Patent number: 4344198
Abstract: The specification describes a procedure for the washing of clothes in a washing machine with a horizontal, perforated, driven tub arranged inside a housing, in which during the washing and rinsing cycles the clothes are repeatedly lifted up, and then fall in a trajectory onto the lower portion of the tub, and are then distributed and pressed against the tub wall, largely without unbalance, as the tub velocity is gradually increased, and are then centrifuged as the velocity is increased further.

  • Patent number: 4339368
Abstract: The present invention concerns a coating composition comprising a dispersion, solution or suspension of a coating composition containing a nitrogen containing organic material which when heat cured contains at least 75% less amine value than present in the material prior to curing. The present invention also concerns a method of electrodepositing a film forming substance onto a substrate by employing an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte therebetween comprising the steps:a. providing an aqueous electrolyte containing said composition described above;b. closing the circuit between the anode and the cathode; andc. depositing the film forming composition on the cathodic substrate.

  • Patent number: 4339248
Abstract: Described is a process for the purification of gaseous effluent of industrial processes by providing a gas containing at least a hydrocarbon solvent and/or an oxygenated solvent and passing said gas into a gas absorbing means comprised of a nonreactive liquid solvent for said gas, said liquid solvent being liquid and substantially nonvolatile at ambient temperatures and pressures. Preferably, the liquid absorbing solvent is reclaimed by separating the gaseous effluent therefrom. The gaseous effluent is preferably that resulting from the application of paint.
