  • Patent number: 7845731
Abstract: A foldable head restraint has two head restraint supports set within a bracket. A latch is made integral with at least one of the head restraint supports. The latch rests against a stop to prohibit rotation of the head restraint support in a first direction. The latch rests against a rotational cam to prohibit movement of the head restraint support in a second direction. By rotating the cam, the head restraint support may be folded. The head restraint support is comprised of a metal substrate with over-molded plastic geometry to accept a mating part configured within the head restraint bun. The geometry of the metal substrate and over-molded plastic geometry allow for a reduction, or even elimination, of the slots that are normally required for such a folding head restraint. This ability to fold can yield greater rearward visibility and aid in the kinematic motion of the seat.

  • Patent number: 7812943
Abstract: A method of imaging critical dimensions by measuring the zeroeth order of diffracted light. The method involves providing a target, directing light onto the target so as to cause the target to diffract the light. The zeroeth order of the diffracted light is collected and analyzed to determine structural features of the target. The target can be an article of manufacture, such as a semiconductor device, or a separate target that is provided or fabricated on an article of manufacture. One of at least the wavelength and the angle at which the light is directed onto the target can be scanned. The target can fill all or only a portion of the field of view.

  • Patent number: 7784185
Abstract: A process for attaching a wheel cover to a wheel in which a wheel cover and wheel are placed together and a foamable adhesive is injected into the gap defined between the wheel cover and wheel. After the foamable adhesive is injected into the gap defined between the wheel cover and wheel at an injection station, the cover/wheel assembly is transported to a station in which the cover/wheel assembly is heated to a temperature that is sufficient to effect the forming, expansion and curing of the foamable adhesive. The cover/wheel assemblies are supported and transported on carriers that are provided with clamping mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 7750522
Abstract: A direct-drive generator and assembly procedure for that generator include a permanent magnet assembly that is partitioned and assembled piece-by-piece after the rotor and stator have been attached. The magnets are attached to a plate in columns, and adjacent columns have a N-S orientation. The air gap between the rotor and stator is variable, and application of an input torque produces a first cogging torque in a first direction due to the variable air gap that offsets a second cogging torque in a second opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 7718833
Abstract: Methods for purifying glycerin contaminated with one or more lower boiling alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, straight, branched or cyclic C3-C6 alcohols, and the like. The methods are particularly useful for purifying crude glycerin phases recovered from the synthesis of biofuels. The present invention uses distillation techniques to strip alcohol contaminants from glycerin. In contrast to conventional methods that carry out distillation either under substantially anhydrous or very wet conditions, the present invention carries out distillation in the presence of a limited amount of water, e.g., from about 0.8 to about 5 parts by weight of water per 100 parts by weight of contaminated glycerin to be purified.
