Abstract: A polyphosphate in combination with an azole such as in alkyl or alkoxy benzotriazole, mercaptobenzothiazole, tolyltriazole, benzotriazole, a substituted benzotriazole and/or 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, is used to inhibit the corrosion of metallic surfaces, particularly copper surfaces, in contact with an aqueous system. Systems and compositions are also claimed.
Abstract: A method for controlling zebra mussels in ship ballast tanks comprising treating ballast water which contains zebra mussels or which is prone to zebra mussel infestation with an effective amount of a didecyl dimethyl ammonium halide. A preferred compound is a didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride.
Abstract: A method for stabilizing metal ions in recirculating water systems is disclosed. This method utilizes an admixture comprising a) an ethylenically unsaturated water-soluble polymer and/or a water soluble phosphonate, b) methylene bis(thiocyanate), and c) 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole to solubilize metal ions thereby reducing deposition and corrosion.

Abstract: Compositions containing a water soluble carboxylic/sulfonic/polyoxyalkylene terpolymer and a water soluble phosphonate effectively control calcium carbonate scaling in aqueous systems under severe pH, alkalinity, calcite saturation and/or temperature conditions.
Abstract: A melamine-formaldehyde detackifer having less than 0.15% free formaldehyde comprises a melamine-formaldehyde polymer detackifier to which has been added a formaldehyde scavenging agent comprising an effective amount of urea, and an enhancer selected from glyoxal and acetylacetone. The use of the low free formaldehyde detackifier is also described.
Abstract: Novel 6H-dibenz[b,e][1,4]oxathiepin derivatives of the Formulae I and IA are employed in the treatment and control of allergic conditions such as allergic asthma.

Abstract: The invention relates to novel substituted-3-(2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl)-4-hydroxy-1H-pyrrole-2,5-diones, their analogs and their salts. These compounds are synthesized by methods selected from a number of synthetic routes depending on the particular structure, choice of intermediate or preferred reaction sequence. The compounds are useful for the treatment and prevention of injury to the brain and of edema due to head trauma, stroke (particularly ischemic), arrested breathing, cardiac arrest, Reye's syndrome, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral embolism, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral tumors, encephalomyelitis, spinal cord injury, hydrocephalus, post-operative brain injury trauma, edema due to cerebral infections and various brain concussions.
