  • Patent number: 5695443
Abstract: A temporary shelter for housing and shielding a high energy radiation source used to irradiate objects and includes a hot cell for enclosing the source. An outer perimeter structure, including at least one wall, substantially encloses the hot cell and together with the cell forms an interior space positioned between the cell and outer wall. The interior space is filled with sand, covering the cell except for a front opening into the cell. The walls of the cell and outer structure are comprised of a rail and panel structure tied together with wire form ties to provide internal structural integrity against the weight of the sand. The sand and appropriately located other high energy attenuating components attenuate the energy emissions to a value less than the MPD Distance for the particular high energy radiation emitting source immediately to the exterior of the shelter.

  • Patent number: 5692861
Abstract: A template for use in preparing additional templates to be used in the fabrication of dovetail joints comprises a single planar member having a pair of sides in which the member defines a first and second plurality of elongated openings of a particular shape. The first plurality of elongated openings have enlarged circular ends through which started holes are drilled into an underlying blank. A router is then inserted into the started hole and guided by the sides of the first elongated openings defines a pattern in the underlying form. Similarly, the second plurality of elongated openings provide a guide to a router for forming a pattern on the other side of the form. The form then becomes a template for use in the fabrication of both the dovetails and pins of a dovetail joint.

  • Patent number: 5674119
Abstract: A miniature motorized hand held dental saw wherein the axis of rotation of the handle of the dental saw is tangent to the cutting edge of the blade. This important characteristic, combined with the use of a flexible blade, enables the operator to change, as needed, the direction of the cut without any snagging or binding effects. The dental saw preferably includes a main steel body on which are attached three flanged Teflon.TM. coated bearings that support and guide a thin, annular blade. The rotation of the blade, on these flanged bearings, is created by a drive assembly including two opposite wheels, a drive wheel and a follower wheel, each wheel including a hub on which is fitted an o-ring. The opposite o-rings create an equal pressure on both faces of the blade and cause the blade to rotate.

  • Patent number: 5671563
Abstract: A vehicle control gate arrangement pivotable to a position for restricting flow of vehicular traffic where the gate is generally elongate and can include a tubular shell and a core member where the shell is more flexible than the core and contacts the core substantially continuously around the periphery of the core. The core can be terminated toward the distal end of the gate so that the shell extends outwardly from the termination of the core so that vehicles attempting to bypass the end of the gate but failing to do so, strike the flexible end of the gate so the gate is not damaged or knocked down. An arrangement is also provided to include a gate composed of one or more sections connected to an adjacent section or to a pivot by a joint assembly which releases the outermost section in the event the section is struck by a vehicle attempting to or accidently going through the gate.

  • Patent number: 5665007
Abstract: A golf putting training device (22) attached to the shaft (30) of a putter (14) has a shape that extends out from the shaft (30) and forms an elongated edge (24) that is aligned by a user (10) along the heel (16b) of the putter (14) so that a spacing (38) is formed between the edge (24) and a golf ball (12) adjacent the putter head face (16a) at address. The user (10) moves the putter head (16) along the putting stroke so that the spacing (38) is maintained essential constant throughout the stroke thereby ensuring the putter head face (16a) is maintained perpendicular to the target line (36) during the putting stroke.

  • Patent number: 5657738
Abstract: A toy for propelling soft spherical projectiles includes a projectile of material such as foamed plastic, and a hand held launcher. A tubular elastic member is anchored to the projectile and extends through the projectile and out of a surface of the projectile a sufficient distance to allow a user to grasp and stretch the elastic member. The launcher includes a hand grip and a seat against which the projectile is positioned, and an opening to the rear of the seat through which the elastic member extends. After positioning the projectile on the seat, a user pulls the elastic member rearward to stretch, then releases it to propel the projectile forward. The projectile may include a strip of adhering material such as a hook and loop fastener; a target with a complementary adhering material may be mounted on a wall or the launcher.

  • Patent number: 5642799
Abstract: A brake device for a conveyor has two load supporting conveyor rollers rotatable to enable a load thereon to be transported along the conveyor. The load supporting rollers are movable transversely to their axes of rotation by a load passing thereover against a resilient bias into engagement with a brake roller adapted to brake rotation of the conveyor rollers. The braking force exerted by the brake roller is dependent at least in part upon the weight of the load on the conveyor rollers.

  • Patent number: 5642572
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a portable garment dryer that has a planar base member with a centrally located opening. A light but durable, air permeable garment bag is secured about the opening on one side of the planar base. An elastic grommet-like member circumscribes the opening on the other side of the planar base member and snugly receives a barrel of a hair dryer in an air tight relationship. A pair of adjustable straps are secured to the opposite side of the planar member and supports the planar base so that the garment bag hangs freely beneath planar member. A damp garment can be hung in the interior of the bag and the hair dryer unit turned on. Foldable flaps extend from the planar base member to enclose the garment bag folded tightly against the base member when the garment dryer is not in use.

  • Patent number: 5623846
Abstract: An integrated platform/clamping structure for use in combination with a frame straightening system; the structure including multiple clamp assemblies slidably attached to the platform of the system for lateral movement relative to the platform. The clamp assemblies can be moved independently of one another until they are located underneath the automobile pinchweld. The clamp assemblies also have a mechanism (in the preferred embodiment, a vertically aligned piston/cylinder system) which raise each clamp relative to the platform. Once the clamp touches the pinchweld, means (in the preferred embodiment, a second, horizontally aligned piston/cylinder system) are provided to automatically fix the jaws of the clamp over the pinchweld and lock. The system also has linear measurement gauges underneath the platform and made a part of the system, with means to raise the gauges into an operable location adjacent the undercarriage of the car.

  • Patent number: 5615763
Abstract: A vibratory system for changing or maintaining a resultant vibratory force supplied to a spring support conveyor trough has a pair of spaced, parallel shafts and phase elements for supplying a resultant to force to the trough. A sensing device generates a signal corresponding to the real time phase angle between the phase elements. This signal is compared to a signal corresponding to the desired phase angle and the real time phase angle is essentially the same as the desired phase angle thereby providing the desired resultant force to the conveyor.
