Abstract: A special epidural catheter syringe, epidural catheter connector, and continuous epidural tubing connector are provided to provide mechanical lockouts to prevent epidural anesthetic from being injected intravenously and to prevent medications intended for intravenous use from being injected into the epidural catheter.
Abstract: A fluidized bed vessel includes a cyclone which has a leg for returning particulate material to the bed, and an eductor at the bottom of the leg for providing the gas to fluidize the bed and for inducing a downward flow in the leg to provide greater particulate separation from the gas in the cyclone.
Abstract: A coffee bean roaster is provided with a cylindrically shaped transparent viewing tower in which coffee beans are roasted by an upwardly directed hot gaseous stream while being fluidized into a visually pleasing ascending central and descending outside columns during the roasting cycle. A two way valve located at the bottom of the tower permits the gaseous stream to enter the tower when the valve is in a first position and the roasted beans to be diverted to a cooling chamber when the valve is in a second position.
Abstract: A combination continuous/batch asphalt plant includes mechanisms and controls which permit it to be hot-stopped when operating in the continuous mode.
Abstract: A threaded, closeable cap is provided for a bottle. A removable seal can be located between the cap and the bottle. The cap provides directional flow, an aeration tube, elimination of slippage when pouring, and elimination of drips.
Abstract: An improved underwater fish attracting device including a housing of fish shaped design retractably attached to a first cable to a boat. A parachute is retractably attached through a third cable to the fish-like housing and a second cable retractably attaches the parachute to a fishing rod on the boat. A fishing lure is also attached to the parachute. The fish-like housing is provided with a propeller on a forward outside end thereof which is in activating relationship with a movable spool within the housing for releasing and retracting the third cable to which the parachute is attached. The parachute is openable in response to the pressure of water on the underside of the parachute.
Abstract: A restraining garment used with a patient supinely positioned on a tilted operating table has a pair of wrap members that wrap about the upper thighs of the patient adjacent the groin area thereby providing operating access to the entire anterior torso of the supinely positioned patient. The underside of the garment is secured to the operating table and prevents the patient from sliding down the table due to the severe tilt of the table.
Abstract: A railroad crosstie plug is positioned within an existing spike hole in a crosstie to restore a predetermined gage between parallel railroad rails. The plug comprises a hollow sleeve having a slot along one side thereof and an interior configuration complimentary to the configuration of the spike. A member separate from the sleeve is pivotally mounted at one end to a lower edge of the slot. The member also defines an impact surface extending across a portion of the interior of the sleeve. When a spike is forced into the sleeve against the impact surface, a second end of the member pivots out of the sleeve and into the surrounding wood of the railroad tie there by locking the sleeve and spike in place within the hole.

Abstract: A device for maintaining limb extension and restraint for children and adults. It comprises a series of longitudinal pockets sewn into a machine launderable, soft, non-allergenic fabric. The pockets can be opened and closed using hook and loop fasteners to remove or replace reinforcing members. The pockets contain elongated resilient foam reinforcing made of a cross-link polyethylene foam, for softness, absorption and laundering by machine. The foam reinforcing is made with a sufficient diameter so as to increase its strength against limb flexion. The foam reinforcing is cylindrical in shape and situated in a series of longitudinal rows that lie parallel to the limb when the splint is worn. Because of its configuration of longitudinal reinforcing members, it provides air flow between the limb and splint through a series of longitudinal openings between the structural members that provides comfort to the patient.
Abstract: A preheat system for a furnace comprising a preheat vessel on a rotating turret and a receiving chamber for conditioning furnace off-gases prior to use in preheating.
Abstract: A rotary actuator and a linear actuator are combined to provide an output shaft with independent linear and rotary motion. The linear actuator causes the rotary actuator to move linearly, and there is a guide which restricts the movement of the rotary actuator to linear motion and a bearing which receives the output shaft of the rotary actuator to prevent orbiting and deflection of the rotary output shaft.

Abstract: A unitary blank having a multiplicity of fold, cut, and score lines permitting the blank to be folded along the fold and cut lines to form a container attached along a first score line to a display panel adapted to be hung from an arm of a merchandising display unit. The blank defines at least one locking slot and further having a tab connected along a first folding line to a first panel and connected to the display panel along a second score line. The tab is insertable in the slot when the display panel is separated from the container to close the top of the container with the first panel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hose pump with pushers (2) arranged one behind the other in the direction of extension of the hose (4), the edges (3) of which act in rhythmic alternation on the hose (4) and which are controlled by angularly staggered eccentric disks (7) which rotate about a common axis (x--x). In order to provide a structurally advantageous system, the common axis (x--x) is made up of stub shafts (8) which project on one side of an eccentric disk (7) and engage in corresponding recesses (9) in the adjacent eccentric disk (7).
Abstract: An oven for maintaining the quality of stored, heated food includes sensors for sensing the temperature of water in the oven's water reservoir and for sensing the temperature of air in the oven and a control system to compensate for the loss of heat and moisture when the door is opened by increasing the temperatures of the water and air above the set values for a period of time.
Abstract: A coffee grinding apparatus for grinding coffee beans and distributing said beans into a basket for subsequent brewing of coffee having a pair of grinding disks where one of the disks is fixed to the housing and has an annular configuration with a central opening and the other disk further removed from the rotates with the drive shaft of the grinder motor. However, the rotating disk is mounted to the shaft so that it rotates with but is free to axially slide along the drive shaft. A coffee bean feed drive is mounted over the distal end of the drive shaft and moves coffee beans from the opening at the front end of the housing through the central opening of the stationary grinding burr. The feed drive is mounted to the shaft so that it rotates with but is also free to slide axially along the shaft. An adjusting mechanism is positioned adjacent to one end of the feed drive and functions to move the feed drive relative to the drive shaft.
Abstract: A refractory powder includes a filler, a binder, and a metal powder. This provides improved heat transfer in the refractory material during heating, and reduces the problem of explosive cracking and spalling so the refractory material can be burned out at substantially constant temperature, thereby saving considerable amounts of time and energy.

Abstract: The present invention involves a grinder/brewer coffee beverage dispensing apparatus having a pair of basket support arms with front end portions adapted to grasp beverage baskets and a configuration essentially complimentary to the circular shapes of beverage baskets. The arms are pivotally mounted for simultaneous horizontal and vertical movement with respect to the frame of the beverage dispensing apparatus, permitting the arms to graps baskets having varying flange widths and diameters.
