Abstract: The invention relates to a mold clamping unit on a plastic injection molding machine, the unit having a clamping mechanism for opening and closing an injection mold, the mechanism having a servo motor as the drive motor (21). The drive motor drives at least one spindle drive (10) which has a spindle nut (12) and spindle which work together on a bearing position (14). A cooling system with cooling channels (25) is provided for removing heat from the clamping mechanism. A more efficient cooling of the spindle drive is achieved in that the cooling channels (25) penetrate the bearing position (14) of the spindle drive (10) and/or one of the cooling plates (23) assigned to the bearing position.

Abstract: A starter for an auxiliary power unit includes a direct current motor operably connectable to an auxiliary power unit. A clutch is arranged in an electrically parallel relationship and configured to operably connect the motor to the auxiliary power unit when engaged, the motor and the clutch powered by a common input line. A time delay switching element is located and configured to delay power delivery to the direct current motor thus providing for full engagement of the clutch prior to initiation of rotation of the motor.

Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer readable media for identifying a user-initiated log file record in a log file are provided. The log file has a user-initiated log file record and a repeating pattern of log file records automatically generated by a software program. The system allows a user to identify first and second timestamp values corresponding to first and second times which identify a time interval of interest in the log file. The system further analyzes the log file to identify the user-initiated log file record having a timestamp value between the first and second timestamp values. The system further identifies the repeating pattern of log file records in the log file.

Abstract: A burner tube to provide combustible materials to a combustor is provided and includes an annular shroud and a center body, having a cavity defined therein, disposed within the annular shroud to form an annular passage, the annular passage being communicable with a combustion zone of the combustor at an aft portion thereof and including a fore portion in which fuel is injected into the annular passage. The center body includes a surface having a passage defined therein through which air is to be supplied to the annular passage from the cavity at a position, which is downstream from the fuel injection and upstream from the combustion zone. Also provided is a contouring of the centerbody.

In one embodiment, a method of making a doped metal oxide or hydroxide for treating water comprises: disposing a metal precursor solution and a dopant precursor solution in a reaction vessel comprising water to form a slurry; and precipitating the doped metal oxide or hydroxide from the slurry.

The acoustic sensor may be configured to detect a sonic signature associated with a failure event. In further arrangements, the acoustic sensors may be configured to receive signals from a controlled acoustic source.

To lengthen the boom without substantially changing the telescopic system itself, the guide profile head is detachably fastened to the safety locking unit. An additional guide frame, whose length is dimensioned corresponding to the length of the telescoping boom that has been expanded by additional sections inserted in the telescoping boom, is mounted in place of the guide profile head, and that a guide profile head can be arranged at the free end of the guide frame.

Abstract: The present invention provides for various embodiments of a unitary fascia energy absorber including an aesthetic appearance while also providing improved energy management. In one embodiment the fascia energy absorber includes an outer member and an inner member joined together. The inner member has a base including a plurality of crush lobes and at least one of the plurality of crush lobes includes a projected wall spaced a distance from the base and at least one sidewall which extends from the base to the projected wall of the crush lobe. The plurality of crush lobes are spaced apart from one another and separated by a portion of the base. In another embodiment a process for producing a fascia energy absorber includes heating and forming a polymer sheets to form an outer member and heating and forming a second polymer sheet to form an inner member. The inner member and the outer member are then joined to form a fascia energy absorber.

Abstract: A method for implementing an adder including receiving a first and second operand. A sum of one or more corresponding digits from the first operand and the second operand is calculated. The calculating is performed by a plurality of adder blocks. Output from the calculating includes the sum of the corresponding digits and a carry out indicator for the corresponding digits. The sums of the corresponding digits and the carry out indicators in a carry chain are stored in an intermediate result register. Each of the sums in the intermediate result register is incremented by one. A selection between each of the sums and the sums incremented by one is performed. Input to the selecting includes the carry chain, and the output from the selecting includes a final sum of the first operand and the second operand. The final sum is stored in an output register.

Abstract: Provided is an ignition plug used for an internal-combustion engine. The ignition plug includes: a center electrode; an insulator disposed outside the center electrode; a metal housing disposed outside the insulator; a ground electrode having an end connected to the metal housing and the other end facing the center electrode; and an electrode tip fixed to one or more of the center electrode and the ground electrode. The electrode tip is made of an alloy of iridium Ir, hafnium Hf, and niobium Nb. Therefore, the ignition plug with the low-cost iridium can have high resistance to prevent an iridium element from oxidizing and vaporizing in high speed driving conditions.

Abstract: A free piston Stirling engine, comprising a power piston fitted into a cylinder further includes: a support structure carrying moving magnets for a linear alternator; and a passive structure that at normal operating power and frequency produces a restoring force on the piston in the absence of contact with the cylinder. In one variation, the passive structure further comprises a mass suspended within the piston from at least one spring, such that the mass oscillates under influence of movement of the piston at normal operating power and frequency so as to produce the restoring force. In another variation, the passive structure further comprises: a magnet disposed outside the cylinder at a position and in an orientation to produce a field that opposes a field of a moving magnet carried by the support structure when the piston moves toward the magnet.
