  • Patent number: 8264952
Abstract: For a ring protection method in a packet transport network a failure is detected at a first network node (N4) in the ring (1, 2). The failure is communicated along the ring (1, 2) using an automatic protection switching protocol. At the first node (N4) or at a second node (N1) adjacent to the failure, a protection switch-over for at least one protected traffic stream (4) is activated by redirecting the traffic stream (4) into the reverse direction of the ring (1, 2). Selected network nodes (N2, N5) along the ring squelch the traffic stream (4) in accordance with pre-configured squelching tables. Squelching is performed only by networks nodes along the ring which perform either an add function or a drop & continue function for the traffic stream (4) to be squelched.

  • Patent number: 8244905
Abstract: Exemplary method and apparatuses for routing messaging traffic from a calling party in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network to a server in a destination network that serves a called party via the most direct route are provided. A telephone number mapping (ENUM)/Domain Name System (DNS) database, pre-provisioned to receive and respond to query messages based on an identifier of the called party and an application specific service type, e.g., short message service (SMS) or instant messaging (IM), may be accessed by a node in the calling party's IMS network to determine an address of the server in the destination network. Messaging traffic may be routed to the destination network or server based on content type or destination digits when ENUM/DNS database based routing mechanisms fail. Furthermore, routing of messaging traffic originating in an enterprise network and routing through the public switched telephone network (PSTN) is enabled.

  • Patent number: 8224574
Abstract: An exemplary navigation system uses a master navigation component at a first location in a vehicle and a slave navigation component at a second location that is a variable displacement to the first location due to physical deformation of the vehicle. Static and dynamic location components provide static and dynamic information of the displacement between the first and second locations. An error estimator estimates errors in the navigational measurement data generated by the slave navigation component based on the navigational measurement data generated by the master navigation component and the displacement information provided by the static and dynamic location components. The master navigation component corrects the navigation measurement data of the slave navigation component based on the determined error and translates the corrected navigation measurement data of the slave navigation component into navigational measurement data in its coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 8224335
Abstract: The present invention relates to communication technology, and in particular, to a method, apparatus and system for supporting distributed IMS charging. The system for supporting distributed IMS charging, comprises: a plurality of nodes, and a index server (101) interconnecting the plurality of nodes, in a network; wherein, a first node (102) sends a charging request to the index server (101), the index server (101) routes the charging request to a second node (103) adapted to charge based on the charging request or returns an address of the second node (103) to the first node (102) and then the first (102) node sends the charging request to the second node (103) with the address from the index server (101); and the second node (103) charges based on the charging request.

The network infrastructure device communicates with a first telecommunication network through the first external interface. The network infrastructure device communicates with a second telecommunication network through the second external interface. The network infrastructure device allows a mobile communication device that has a first registration in the first telecommunication network and a second registration in the second telecommunication network to receive, through the second telecommunication network, a call directed to the first registration. The first telecommunication network is unable to directly query the second telecommunication network for a status of the second registration.

  • Patent number: 8201016
Abstract: An exemplary method facilitates automatic recovery upon failure of a server in a network responsible for replying to user requests. Periodic heartbeat information is generated by a first group of servers responsible for replying to user requests. The heartbeat information provides an indication of the current operational functionality of the first group of servers. A second group of servers determines that one of the first servers has failed based on the periodic heartbeat information. The second group of servers is disposed in communication channels between users and the first group of servers. One of the second group of servers receives a message containing a request from a first user having the one of the first group of servers as a destination. One of the second group of servers determines that the message is part of an ongoing dialog of messages between the first user and the one of the first group of servers.

  • Patent number: 8195988
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus in a Media Gateway (MG) for handling disconnection between the MG and a Media Gateway Controller (MGC). Multilevel requirements are fulfilled by setting different timeout periods for a disconnection timer. On the one hand, if the timeout period of the disconnection timer is not equal to zero, new events that occur during the disconnection are stored. Then, after the connection is recovered, the stored new events are reported to the MGC, so that the data and states in the MG can match those in the MGC after the connection recovery. On the other hand, if the timeout period of the disconnection timer is equal to zero, all active calls are immediately released.
