  • Patent number: 8175854
Abstract: An exemplary method enables implementation of a universal circuit capable of emulating each gate of a circuit designed to calculate a function. A first selection module receives inputs associated with the function. It generates outputs that are an ordered series of the inputs. A universal module receives these outputs and generates another set of outputs. A second selection module receives the outputs from the universal module and generates final function outputs that are an ordered series inputs received from the universal module. The selection modules and universal module themselves are also aspects of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 8175582
Abstract: A system for delivering to a wireless subscriber terminal multimedia content related to a spectator event comprises an event application server, a wireless network coupled to the event application server and a wireless subscriber terminal that interacts with the network. The event application server acquires, converts, and manages content related to a spectator event. The event application server (or its adjunct) also manages preferences and priorities established by subscribers for event-related content. When such content is available, the event application server reconciles available content with subscriber preferences and priorities to determine an optimal set of content to be delivered to the subscriber terminal, and requests that the wireless network establish a connection to the subscriber terminal for such content. Multiple streams of content, of various types of media, may be delivered simultaneously to the subscriber terminal.

  • Patent number: 8166819
Abstract: At least one transducer of an apparatus in one example is configured to generate a first standing wave field within a cavity. The first standing wave field exerts a first field-induced force to cause a plurality of particles within the cavity to align in a desired configuration. The at least one transducer is configured to generate a second standing wave field within the cavity. The second standing wave field causes one or more of the plurality of particles within the cavity to fuse into the desired configuration.

  • Patent number: 8170844
Abstract: A method for estimating a probability of failure of a least-squares ambiguity decorrelation adjustment (LAMBDA) method is provided. The LAMBDA method is used for estimation of double difference carrier phase integer ambiguity. A plurality of condition sets are selected. Each condition set comprises a probability of failure (Pboot-fail) for a boot-strap method of estimation of the double difference carrier phase integer ambiguity, a number of space vehicles (Nsv), and a ratio test tolerance for the LAMBDA method. A plurality of Monte Carlo simulations are run on the plurality of condition sets to obtain a plurality of result sets. Each result set comprises a probability of lambda fail (P?-fail) and a probability of lambda reject (P?-reject) for one condition set of the plurality of condition sets. A lookup table is created with the plurality of result sets. A value of P?-fail for given values of P?-reject, Pboot-fail, and Nsv is estimated through employment of the lookup table.

  • Patent number: 8165174
Abstract: In a method of demapping a tributary from a first frame into a second frame, the first frame has a plurality of tributary words and a synchronization word, and first and second counters are provided. The first counter is increased by a first value at each dock cycle of the second frame, and reading operations are performed according to the second counter. Synchronization information, generated according to the synchronization word, is used to change between first and second states. When in the first state, the second counter is synchronized to the first counter at each clock cycle of the second frame; and, when in the second state, the second counter is synchronized to the first counter at a predetermined instant of the second frame, the second counter increasing by a second value at each clock cycle of the second frame wherein the reading operation is performed.

  • Patent number: 8150385
Abstract: An exemplary method processes an electronic communication received by a first end-user communication device. A communication, received by the first end-user communication device, is a digital message sent from a second end-user device. A message processing program includes an auto-reply generation method that is active to automatically transmit a predetermined reply message to another device upon receipt of a message from it. A list of origination addresses to which the predetermined reply message has previously been transmitted is stored in memory. On receipt of the digital message from the second end-user device, a determination is made if the origination address of the second end-user device is in the list of origination addresses. If it is in the list of origination addresses, the auto-reply generation method is inhibited from transmitting the predetermined reply message.

  • Patent number: 8135836
Abstract: In a network such as a cellular telephone communications network, a control server balancing processing loads among several resource servers resolves a tie between resource servers using the resource servers' prior, current and future load state data and call gap percentages in each of the prior, current and future load states. Such tie resolution also takes into account the trend of resource demands placed on the network; whether it is monotonically increasing, monotonically decreasing or indeterminate. The goal of such resolution is to maximize the throughput of the network while eliminating random selection of resource servers to service requests.
