Abstract: An apparatus for reducing undesired motions during initialization of a stepper motor having a rotor and windings, the apparatus comprising a rotary encoder for sensing direction of rotor rotation; a microcontroller responsive to signals from the rotary encoder for generating bidirectional motor control waveforms having variable digital amplitude values; at least one motor driver for receiving the motor control waveforms and translating the waveforms to drive the motor windings; and wherein the translated waveforms urge the rotor in a first direction and then a second direction to locate a desired rotor position.
Abstract: A method and composition for plating metal contacts on photovoltaic solar cells is described. The cell is immersed in an aqueous bath containing platable metal ions and a solubilizing agent for aluminum or aluminum alloy ions from the back side of the solar cell. The cell is then exposed to light, causing the two sides of the cell to become oppositely charged. The metal ions are plated without requiring an external electrical contact.
Abstract: There is provided a one-press method for producing a glass vessel, the method enabling efficient production of even a glass vessel having the maximum thick wall part having a thickness larger than a predetermined value by using a divided type forming mold having a specific parting line.

Abstract: A method for producing a joined structure, containing: after placing an anisotropic conductive film in the predetermined manner, placing a wiring member containing a wiring plate formed thereon, where the wiring plate has a resist region in which the wiring plate is covered with a resist layer, and a second electrode region in which the wiring plate is not covered with the resist layer, so that the edge of the resist region at a boundary with the second electrode region comes above the chamfer part of the substrate; and heating and compressing the anisotropic conductive film from the side of the wiring member to melt and make the anisotropic conductive film flow into the side of the resist region to thereby cover the second electrode region with the anisotropic conductive film, so as to electrically connect the first electrode region and the second electrode region.

Abstract: A self-heating fluid connector comprising a housing in which is provided exothermic phase change material and one or more fluid channels extending from one end of the housing to the other, in thermal communication with the exothermic phase change material, whereby fluid passing through the fluid conduits is heated by the exothermic phase change material. The self-heating connector is particularly suited for use with a fluid container and a fluid delivery port such as a baby's bottle and feeding teat.

Abstract: A device for producing a break-scheduled line for a vehicle upholstery member having an air bag door equipped with a fabricated skin. The device for producing the vehicle upholstery member having such air bag door comprises a support base for substantially flatly mounting the skin thereon, a cutting blade for forming the break-scheduled line in the skin, and measuring means for measuring the depth of the break-scheduled line or the thickness of the remaining portion. The support base includes a protrusion having a shape corresponding to that of the break-scheduled line formed in the skin on an upper surface of the support base.
Abstract: A method of increasing adhesion between a copper or copper alloy layer and a polymeric resin. The method includes the steps of a) applying a pre-dip composition to the copper layer; b) applying a nano-oxide composition to the treated copper layer, c) applying a post-dip composition to the nano-oxide treated surface, and d) bonding a resin to the treated copper surface. The nano-oxide composition comprises (i) a chlorite; (ii) a caustic; (iii) a phosphate salt; (iv) an organic nitro compound; and (v) a thio compound. The post-dip composition is an alkaline solution that comprises (i) a phosphate salt; (ii) a source of molybdenum ions; and (iii) a thiazole. The process of the invention is useful for improving the bond between copper and a resin, including high Tg resins, halogen-free resins, and high speed/lost resins.

Abstract: A display device or stand therefor, intended to promote frequent changes in a (5) user's posture by the continuous movement of its display screen (1) in a horizontal and/or vertical manner. In a preferred embodiment the display device comprises a vertical hollow column (10) slidably attached by a saddle (11) to a horizontal hollow column (20). The display screen (1) is mounted on a support (30) fitted with a pivot (32) to a moveable collar (31) slidably mounted on vertical column (1). The saddle (11) and (10) collar (31) are driven by respective electric motors (41, 40). The support (30) may incorporate an arm (33) and a rotating wheel (34) running on an offset bar (35) mounted on column (10) by blocks (36, 37). Because of the pivot (32) and due to the slope of the bar (35) the display screen (1) tilts forwards or backwards as it is raised or lowered.
Abstract: An aqueous acidic trivalent chromium electrolyte comprising trivalent chromium ions and a complexing agent for maintaining the trivalent chromium ions in solution is provided in which the aqueous electrolyte comprises additives capable of producing a coating on a substrate having a desired dark hue. The additives typically comprise a dispersion of colloidal silica and an additional additive selected from thiocyanate ions and/or iron ions. The electrolyte is used in a method of producing the desired dark-hued decorative chromium coating on a substrate by electrodeposition.

Abstract: A process is described for treating metal surfaces printed wiring boards and similar substrates to provide improved creep corrosion resistance on such surfaces. A modified organic solderability preservative composition is used in combination with an emulsion polymer to provide a modified polymer coating on the metal surface finish via a chemical reaction to provide enhanced corrosion protection of the surface.
Abstract: The invention provides an oxo-titanylphthalocyanine crystal which is stable, is superior in dispersibility in a photoreceptive layer and efficiently contributes to improvements in sensitivity and charge retention rate of an electrophotographic photoreceptor when it is used as a charge generating agent, a method for producing the oxo-titanylphthalocyanine crystal, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor.
