  • Patent number: 5984360
Abstract: A furniture slide for placement between an object to be moved and the flooring over which it is to be moved. The slide is formed of an elongate sheet of flexible material having opposing ends and side walls joining said opposing ends when viewed in plan. The sheet has opposing faces when viewed in side with one of the faces for abutting support and sliding contact with a floor surface and the other face having a compressible material fixed thereon for an abutting support contact with an object to be moved. A hole and grommet are formed on one or both ends of the sheet of material for applying force for movement of the slide. Preferably, the ends of the slide are substantially arcuate in configuration from side wall to side wall. The sheet of material preferably comprises a plastic material, preferably high density polyethylene material, and said compressible material comprises a rubber material.

  • Patent number: 5980075
Abstract: A fiber optics illumination system for plastic fiber bundle light guides which have pliable cores with one or more cladding sleeves. The proximal light receiving end of the light guides are stripped of all cladding to expose their pliable bundled cores pressed against a mirror mask plate which has a central transparent portion to transmit light from the light source therethrough to the fiber ends for transmission. A vice mechanism is provided to adjust the pressure of the pliable fiber core ends against the mirror mask. Surfaces of the mirror mask which do not transmit light directly to the proximal fiber ends are provided with a light reflecting or mirrored surface to reflect all unused light and heat away from the interface of the mirror mask and the fiber ends.

  • Patent number: 5908156
Abstract: The snow making tower of the present invention includes a vertical ground support pole having its bottom end anchored in the ground surface on a ski slope and a tower support sleeve is coaxially received over the upper end of this ground support pole for free axial rotation on the support pole. An elongated pipe snow making tower with snow making nozzles adjacent its upper end and water and air inlets at its lower end is secured adjacent its lower end to the tower support sleeve at a vertical incline. The elongated pipe tower, together with the support sleeve, are permitted to freely coaxially rotate on the ground support pole. A vertical wind vane is secured to the tower for turning the tower with the tower support sleeve on the ground support pole with prevailing ambient wind applied to the wind vane so that the vertical incline of the tower always points down wind.

  • Patent number: 5890654
Abstract: An elongated pipe tower extends upwardly at an acute angle from vertical with snow making nozzles in an upper end portion of the tower. Supply connections are provided at the lower end of the tower for connection to remote sources of air under pressure for supplying air and water under pressure to the nozzles for discharge into ambient atmosphere for manufacturing snow in sub-freezing conditions. The upper end portion of the tower protrudes upwardly at an angle from the tower and the nozzles are positioned on the outer side of the tower upper end portion facing outwardly away from the tower and the tower base. The nozzles are positioned such that the combined resultant thrust of the suspended weight of the tower itself and the thrust of discharged air and water under pressure through the nozzles is caused to be in substantial alignment with the tower, thereby preventing application of undue stress on the tower and permitting the use of a lightweight pipe tower.

  • Patent number: 5886709
Abstract: An automated system to draw detailed networks for use in various types of engineering analysis and simulations. Nodes can be activated from a set of available node sites. Elements between nodes are automatically drawn by specifying the node start and node end of each element and selecting a draw command and utilizing stored data arrays and graphical software system for input and display of network based computations. A speed draw command can alternatively activate the next node site for the direction command selected and connect the starting and ending nodes with the next available element in a single command. Elements can also contain various attribute types that are displayed and edited on an element toolbar when elements are selected. Values stored in unique data arrays are then available for use in engineering computations.
