Abstract: The present invention provides a measurement tool for use with an application suited for viewing a digitized drawing. The measurement tool enables the measurement of lengths (of both lines and poly lines) and areas (of both regular and irregular shapes) from a digital drawing in true scale. This is particularly advantageous with original architectural drawings or other drawings that are scanned from paper into a digital format and where measuring or annotating the drawing in true scale is important.
Abstract: A building's scaled plans are integrated in a single system. The structural, electrical, water, fire alarm, motion detection, and other various assorted systems are all integrated into the same system. Thus, they are easily accessible to emergency personnel. The emergency personnel will have immediate access to data gathered by the alarm system thereby notifying emergency personnel immediately of the location of hazardous situations as well as where potential victims or, in the event of a crime where, perpetrators may be. The system can also be used to plan ingress and egress routes or point-to-point routes and distances. Further, emergency planning for other structures such as bridges and tunnels can be performed using the disclosed system. Additionally, GPS locators can be used to track personnel.
Abstract: An ultrasonic real-time inspection method which is user-friendly in an interactive environment to provide ease of operation, as well as a combination of consistency, thoroughness, and speed of operation in flaw detection not achievable by other methods. The system and method are useable on a traveling wheel so as not to unduly interfere with normal train operation. The system and method includes a test device that moves along train wheels injecting pulses into the wheel to detect acoustic responses caused at a discontinuity in the wheel. A processor can also be included to determine a pattern of a feature of the wheel associated with the discontinuity.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an article of apparel in the form of a hand-worn article, such as a mitten or glove. The hand-worn article has an inner lining into which the wearer's hand is inserted, an insulating layer covering the inner lining, and an outer cover covering all of the above. The insulating layer has varied insulation to provide multiple levels of insulation to the wearer's hand. The hand-worn article so formed is capable of providing enhanced comfort to the wearer's hand. Moreover, the present invention also relates to an insulating item, such as for use to make a body-worn article. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method of making a hand-worn article using the insulating layer to provide enhanced insulation and/or dexterity.
Abstract: Techniques for fabricating high frequency ultrasound transducers are provided herein. In one embodiment, the fabrication includes depositing a copperclad polyimide film, a layer of epoxy on the copperclad polyimide film, and a polyvinylidene fluoride film on the epoxy. The assembly of materials are then pressed to bond the polyvinylidene fluoride film to the copperclad polyimide film and to form an assembly. The polyvinylidene fluoride film being one surface and the copperclad polyimide film being the other surface. The area behind the copperclad polyimide film surface is filled with a second epoxy, and then cured to form an epoxy plug.

Abstract: A variably threaded screw has a first end and a second end, the first end of the shaft terminating in a tip and the second end having a widened head thereon. A first helical thread portion is located on the shaft adjacent the widened head. A second helical thread portion is located on the shaft adjacent the tip of the shaft. A third helical thread portion is located on the shaft between the first helical thread portion and the second helical thread portion. The first helical thread portion and the second helical thread portion have right hand thread pitches. The third helical thread portion has a left hand thread pitch. A helical ridge having a right hand thread pitch intersects the third helical thread portion.
Abstract: A digital compression system including a superresonant filter, which adds samples of a digital data signal at a frequency to previous samples. The added samples are parts of sine or cosine waves, not the sum of the waves. The output signal is actually the summation of the samples. The samples are made during at most a single period. The disclosed superresonant filter has a settling time significantly faster than prior art narrow band filters. Prior art narrow band filters passing approximately 1 Hz require approximately 1 second to settle. The disclosed superresonant filter passing 1 Hz will settle in approximately 1 microsecond.

Abstract: The present application discloses curb components that represent various shapes of glass blocks to be used in the construction of a curb for a glass block wall, along with a system and method for laying out the curb components. The curb components can be fitted together to lay out the positioning of glass blocks, such that a user can lay out potential designs for glass block walls prior to constructing the glass block wall. Connection mechanisms are used, which enable a variety of joint sizes, as well as angled joints to be formed.
Abstract: A network or interconnect structure which includes a plurality of nodes which are interconnected within a hierarchical multiple level structure. The level of each node is determined by the position of the node within the structure and data messages move from node to node from a source level to a destination level. Each node within the interconnect structure is capable of receiving simultaneous data messages at its input ports from any other node and the receiving node is able to transmit each of the received data messages through its output ports to separate nodes in the interconnect structure to one or more levels below the level of the receiving node.
Abstract: An improved cinematographic system and method for multiple compositing, within a virtual studio, of an image frame or image sequence of a real/action image of an action sequence of a puppet, with another image frame or image sequence of a real/action image of the same or another puppet, within a given virtual studio space. This system and method have application to the compositing of a master camera angle image and a close-up image of the same puppet character; and, to the compositing of a master camera angle image of one action puppet character with a second image from another camera angle of another puppet action character, so as to provide an interactive image sequence of each of the characters of each image within the same image frame.
