  • Patent number: 3991969
Abstract: Form positioning apparatus is disclosed which maintains flat forms in place for continuously pouring of concrete walled structures. The apparatus utilizes a jacking I beam upon which are positioned a pair of moving beams carried along the flange of the I beam by rollers and each of which supports a compression beam actuated through pivoted levers to secure the flat form panel against the opposite flange of the I beam. A series of jacking dogs cooperating with a jack and ratchet move and lock the moving beam along the jacking beam. Beam deflecting means operating through the moving beams deflect the jacking beam to the required wall curvature.

  • Patent number: 3985497
Abstract: A scrap preheating system of the type employing a conveyor upon which the scrap is placed, an elongate burner hood surrounding the conveyor and burners within the hood which direct flames upon the scrap. The side walls of the burner hood include an elongate exhaust chamber and side wall ports between the exhaust chamber and the interior of the hood. An exhaust fan induces a negative pressure under the hood through the exhaust chambers which pulls the unburned hydrocarbons from under the hood through the side wall ports into the exhaust chamber. Additionally, air is drawn upwardly between the conveyor and side walls of the hood and through the side wall ports into the exhaust chambers wherein combustion is completed and pollution reduced. The length of hood and burner array exceeds the length of scrap material on the conveyor. The conveyor is periodically jogged during the preheating cycle to slightly advance and mix the scrap and only those burners positioned above the scrap are operated as it advances.

  • Patent number: 3984662
Abstract: A system is disclosed for determining and recording a plurality of individual rates of occurrence of predetermined events over a time span wherein the system utilizes a sensor-accumulator which senses the occurrence of a plurality of events over a predetermined time and translates the accumulated total into a binary expression. The binary expressions are periodically written into a dynamic recirculated memory in a serial fashion and after a predetermined time are all read out to a printing device. The position of the last entered binary expression in the recirculating memory is indexed by means of a counter which is reset to zero upon entry of a word and initiates counting upon the entry of the last bit of the word. A decoder is set to generate a signal each time the counter reaches a count equal to the memory capacity to thus index each complete recirculation of the memory past the point of the last bit entered.

  • Patent number: 3982352
Abstract: A knockdown toy is disclosed which may be assembled in numerous different configurations and includes a basic frame formed of a rectangular intermediate panel and opposed end panels secured thereto. Two side panels and two rocker panels are provided and may be respectively positioned along the long edges of the intermediate panel and upper or lower edges of the end panels to create different toy configurations as desired. Also provided are a plurality of elongate rods and two axle and wheel assemblies which permit the creation of canopy and wagon configurations respectively.

  • Patent number: 3980948
Abstract: A vehicle location system is provided for determining the coordinate location of a vehicle through radio transmission radiation from the vehicle and the system includes a plurality of receiver sites at known coordinate locations each having antenna-coupler means providing first and second signals whose phase difference is approximately linearly related to the azimuth angle of the receiver signal from the radiation source. The first and second signals are processed at each receiver site to translate the frequency of the signals to a lower frequency and to remove the common frequency variations therefrom. Thereafter, the signals are passed through a phase detector which provides a binary output expression which is linearly related to the phase difference between the first and second signals.

  • Patent number: 3979884
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for extracting and sorting mail from envelopes which have had one edge thereof already severed. The plurality of envelopes with their edges already severed are placed into a hopper and fed from the hopper to a pair of conveyor belts operating along a vacuum manifold through which a vacuum is drawn. The conveyor is indexed to move the envelope to a work station at which two opposed vacuum cups pull the sides of the envelope into an open position to facilitate quick removal of the contents. While the operator is sorting the contents of the envelope into sorting compartments, the conveyor is again indexed to bring the next envelope into place whereupon it is drawn into an open position. An inspection device, such as a photocell arrangement, is positioned at an inspection station to check that the contents have been completely removed.

  • Patent number: 3943619
Abstract: A procedure for drawing ultrafine wires is disclosed which incorporates the steps of inserting a core wire of a selected material into a plurality of telescoped sacrificial sheaths, welding the ends of the core wire to the sheath and successively drawing the combination down to a predetermined diameter. The outside sheath is sacrificed by etching to free the proportionately reduced core wire. The core wire may be initially covered with Teflon to aid in the reduction and the Teflon is removed by exposure to heat.

  • Patent number: 3930329
Abstract: A bait molding device for forming and securing moldable bait material such as bread dough about a fishhook. A mold is formed of two cup shaped mold sections which are secured to pliers-like devices for opening and closing of the mold sections. The molds are of an elongate configuration to accommodate an entire fishhook and moldable bait material surrounding the fishhook within the mold sections. One of the mold sections includes a groove through one of the edges of the mold to permit the fishing line attached to the hook to pass through the mold when closed.
