Abstract: A process for producing a laminate comprising a metal sheet having thermoplastic material on both sides thereof is described. The thermoplastic material is calendered to produce an upper thermoplastic sheet and a lower thermoplastic sheet. A metal sheet is fed into the nip between the calender rolls in order to contact the metal sheet simultaneously with the upper and lower thermoplastic sheets, thus producing a laminate. Processes for producing a pipe-wrapping material, a roofing structure and a solvent-welded joint are also provided.

Abstract: Substituted piperazine diones are stabilizers for synthetic polymeric materials normally subject to deterioration caused by ultraviolet light. The compounds are prepared by the alkylation reaction between a substituted piperazine dione and an organic halide. Polymeric compositions containing these stabilizers may also contain a hindered phenolic compound. A typical embodiment is 15,15'-dodecamethylenebis(7,15-diazadispiro[5,1,5,3]hexadecane-14,16-dione ).
Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is alkylene,M is hydrogen or a metal, andm has a value of from 1 to 4,Are good light stabilizers. The amino acids may be formed, for example, from 1,3,3-trimethyl-3-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-5-ol and sebacic acid to give o-mono(1,3,3-trimethyl-2-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-5-ol)sebacate. The metal salts of the acids are readily prepared by reacting the acids or their salts with a reactive form of the metal or metal complex.
Abstract: This invention provides compositions containing polysulfonamides which are prepared by the addition polymerization of bis-N-cyanosulfonamides. The resins are useful in coating, molding, laminating and casting applications.
Abstract: Nickel complexes containing ortho- or para-hydroxy-benzoate anions and a non-ionic amine ligand are valuable light-stabilizers for polymers, particularly for polyolefins. The complexes may also contain a second carboxylate anion, different from the benzoate anion, and in this case also the amine-free nickel compounds show a high stabilizing action.

Abstract: Metal salts of benzoyloxybenzoates having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are lower alkyl or cycloalkyl,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are hydrogen, lower alkyl or cycloalkyl,M is a metal or an alkylmetal moiety, andm is an integer from 1 to 4,Are useful as stabilizers of organic materials such as polyolefins.
Abstract: According to the invention, polyaddition products containing imide groups are manufactured by reacting certain polyimides (preferably maleimides) with polyhydric phenols in the presence of basic compounds. The preferred embodiment (A) relates to the use of catalysts as basic compounds. In particular, tertiary, secondary or mixed tertiary-secondary amines can be used. A further embodiment (B) relates to the use of primary polyamines as basic compounds. In the latter case, the polyamine participates in the polyaddition mechanism, that is to say the molecules are incorporated into the polyaddition products. In this latter case, catalysts can also be used additionally. The invention can be utilized particularly in the fields of surface protection, the electrical industry, laminating processes and the manufacture of foamed plastics, and in the building industry.
