Abstract: Fire resistance can be rated for building structure by providing or having made available, and applying or noting application or presence of fire control agent(s) to or with component part(s) of the structure; providing a fire resistance rating format of a comparative structure; and comparing for a fire resistance classification rating (FRCR). Certification can be effected by providing a security code specific for one-time use in relation to a building structure by a user; entering an FRCR of a building structure rated for fire resistance at a first location and the security code to a communication medium; transmitting by the medium the entered rating and the security code from the first location to a second location; and checking the security code of the user to insure it is authorized and specific to that user; if so, recording the rating supplied by the user; if not, notifying an appropriate monitor.
Abstract: A housing can be mounted to a component in a cab of a vehicle; and a switch pad can have control keys, the pad mounted in the housing such that the keys are readily accessible to an operator of the vehicle during plowing operation such as shifting and/or steering. A securing member, which may be in a form of a strap system, may be attached to the housing away from the pad and keys for mounting the housing to the cab component. The housing may have a channel or a cannulation for mounting to the cab component. The housing may be resilient, making for increased comfort especially in long-term operation. The housing and pad assembly may be compact for storage in a glove box of the vehicle. Also, the control system can be wireless and remote.
Abstract: Handle for an object includes a member for grasping with the hand, and a strap attachable to the member for embracing and securing the object. The strap includes a band portion having a tension buffer segment, and a band lock. The handle can be found in combination with the object, which, for example, may be a large metal coffee can.
Abstract: Quick liner release strip has a substantially straight, hollow conduit for communication of air, which includes a means for ready attachment of the conduit to an inside wall of the container, and at least one of an oblique lower terminus and internal reinforcing. The strip can be affixed to the inside of a waste container or the like.
Abstract: Fluid leaks can be detected and controlled in a pressurized piping system. Apparatus for this includes control logic; in communication with the logic, a flow detector and/or a pressure detector, and a control valve. One or more of the following is or are provided also: the flow and pressure detectors are both present, and both as single units; the control logic, the flow and/or pressure detector(s) and the control valve are in close proximity to one another; and the control valve has a baseline condition of being shut off. A remote control device can remotely interact with the control logic. Pressure decay and/or flow properties can be employed. The fluid can be water as, for example, in a residential, commercial or institutional system.
Abstract: Inert gas blanket protects oxidatively labile substance from oxidation. For example, fuels and lubricants such as present in fuel tanks, bearings, crankcases, gear boxes, transmissions, and so forth, employed in or in conjunction with internal combustion, jet and turbine engines, or a combustible substance such as flour dust in a grain silo, can be protected with a nitrogen blanket provided from the separation of air with a membrane containing device. Useful life of oleaginous liquids and hydrocarbon-based lubricants can be extended. For example, with the practice of the present invention, it may be necessary to change automobile engine oil only after twenty to fifty thousand miles of use.
Abstract: Snow stop includes a base member, and a snow-restraining member. The snow stop can have a series of holes for ventilation of adhesive as well as for forming “glue-rivets” with cured adhesive, and can have slots (grooves) to the holes or boundary of the snow stop to assist in ventilating adhesive solvent. The holes and grooves also can provide for increased physical bonding with the adhesive and hence, roof. The base may be round with the snow-restrainer included in intersecting upstanding members.
Abstract: Intumescent fire retardant latex paint has a mold inhibitor in an amount sufficient to kill, control, or prevent growth of mold, mildew or fungus after the intumescent fire retardant latex paint having mold inhibitor is applied to, and dried and reached a constant mass on a substrate. The paint can be in a form of a finish paint or primer. For example, the mold may be toxic black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum), and the mold inhibitor may be alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride as an 80% by weight mixture added at about 3% by weight of a base fire retardant latex paint formulation. Such a paint can be made by contacting latex paint-forming ingredients with a fire retardant and a mold inhibitor, under conditions sufficient to form the paint; and can be used by contacting it with a substrate under conditions sufficient to be flame retardant or mold inhibitory, or both. An article of manufacture can include, in combination, the paint having the mold inhibitor, or its residue, and the substrate.
Abstract: Can opener includes frame; rotating, toothed wheel cutting blade; and counterpoised drive wheel. A first, perforating relationship can provide the lid of a can with perforations about its outer boundary for draining liquids; and a second, lid boundary-releasing relationship, which is less than the first distance, can provide for the lid of the can being cut to completely sever it from the remainder of the can.
Abstract: Scanning Brookfield dry block instrument component, viscometer instrument, and method of use of the instrument can employ direct refrigeration with heat provision. A thermoelectric chip substitute may be employed as well.
Abstract: Freestanding bag or body with a support member, and a bag or body mountable upon the support member, has at least part of the support member provided with padding to receive a striking blow.
Abstract: Clip for attaching a bed liner to a cargo area of a vehicle such as a pickup truck can include a body to which is attached an ear, and attached to the ear, a toe that can engage a vertical portion of a wall of the bed liner; optionally, a hole may be provided in the body to disengage the toe from the bed liner wall opposite the toe. The clip in another embodiment can include a body to which is attached a biasing upper extension arm, and a laterally directed retaining member, and between the body and the laterally directed retaining member is provided at least one gap for receiving a wall portion of the bed liner; optionally, a recess may be provided to accommodate a blind lip tab of the pickup truck cargo area wall.

Abstract: Solid composition has an organic spill absorbing material in which is absorbed certain of a liquid organic compound or composition. The organic spill absorbing material can be water insoluble, particulate polymer particles that imbibe liquid organic materials. A halogenated organic can provide the liquid organic compound or composition. The halogenated organic can be a halogenated hydrocarbon. A fire can be fought by transmitting the solid composition containing a suitable flame retardant to the base of the fire under conditions such that the absorbed liquid in liquid or vapor form is released; and a living target can be stupefied by transmitting the solid composition containing a suitable stupefying agent under conditions such that vapors of the stupefying agent are released and stupefy the target.
Abstract: Liner for a bed of a vehicle includes a member having a substantially flat portion with ribs that, in one embodiment, in a first part are arranged in an array extending along a front to rear axis, and in a second part have at least one array extending obliquely to the array of the first part. In another embodiment, ribs are arrayed such that in cross section a bank of the ribs includes at leant one outer rib member part that spans obliquely from a substantially flat part of the liner into an upper member of a rib that it in part forms.

Abstract: Directly refrigerated component or system in which a refrigerating pathway is provided with passive cooling moderation. The passive cooling moderation can be provided, for example, by a passive cooling moderator that has moderating live space, or by a passive cooling moderator has moderating dead space. The component or system can be a test device for rotational viscometric testing of an oleaginous fluid, and, when it has test wells and sample sleeves which go into the wells, the sample sleeves can be stopped from rotating in the wells by a pin and pin-engaging hole or slot arrangement.
