Abstract: Systems and methods for managing power usage are provided. The system includes a programmable microprocessor, at least one input mechanism, a memory having instructions and/or other information, a display, at least one power consuming power device and a remote server. The systems allows the user of a power consuming device to receive instructions or other information from the server. The method includes using stored program instructions to generate power device related information on a display, collecting power device data representative of the electrical current or power consumed, connecting to a remote computing facility having a server, and providing the data to a computer remotely located from the central server.
Abstract: An apparatus having a plurality of first circuits, second circuits, third circuits and fourth circuits is disclosed. The first circuits may be configured to generate a plurality of first signals in response to (i) a priority signal and (ii) a request signal. The second circuits may be configured to generate a plurality of second signals in response to the first signals. The third circuits may be configured to generate a plurality of enable signals in response to the second signals. The fourth circuits may be configured to generate collectively an output signal in response to (i) the enable signals and (ii) the request signal. A combination of the first circuits, the second circuits, the third circuits and the fourth circuits generally establishes a programmable priority encoder. The second signals may be generated independent of the enable signals.

Abstract: A method of double detection in a perpendicular magnetic read channel is disclosed. The method generally includes the steps of (A) generating an intermediate signal by performing a first detection on an input signal of the perpendicular read channel, the first detection having a first error rate, (B) generating a statistics signal based on the intermediate signal, the statistics signal conveying noise statistics that depend on data in the input signal and (C) generating an output signal by performing a second detection on the input signal using the noise statistics to reduce a second error rate of the second detection compared with the first error rate, wherein the first detection is independent of the second detection.

Abstract: A method for detecting moving interlaced text in a video sequence originating through telecine is disclosed.
