  • Patent number: 4530340
Abstract: The combustion zone of an internal combustion engine is provided with a catalyst which is incorporated in the combustion zone as a thin layer placed on the internal cylinder walls and/or the top surface of the piston and/or on surfaces of the spark plug which are exposed to the combustion zone of the cylinder for the purpose of cracking the carbon-carbon bonds in the heavier fuel molecules immediately prior to combustion within the combustion zone of the cylinder. The light fuel molecules produced during fuel contact with the catalyst yields a more complete combustion and extraction of the exothermic energy, thereby increasing fuel economy and decreasing the amounts of incomplete combustion products leaving the exhaust. The catalysts for use in the present invention include acidic metal oxide mixtures.

  • Patent number: 4526373
Abstract: A golfing aid comprises a U-shaped tube having elongate arms with upstanding flexible fingers spaced along the length of each arm. The tube is positioned on the ground in juxtaposition to a golf ball with the arms straddling the intended clubhead swing path and providing guidance to a golfer of the intended swing path. In use, if the clubhead brushes the resilient fingers, an indication is provided to the golfer that the clubhead has strayed from the required path. The device also includes a pointer for aligning the arms in relation to a target in accordance with the type of shot to be made. The tube is flexible with a stiffening wire extending therethrough, and the flexible fingers comprise lengths of tubing secured by screws in diametrically opposed holes formed in the tube.

  • Patent number: 4492147
Abstract: A reciprocatory air motor has a main plunger valve the position of which controls the flow of air to opposite sides of a main motor piston. Positioning of the plunger valve is itself controlled by a pair of cushion pistons carried on the piston rod of the motor. • Patent number: PP5412
Abstract: This invention relates to a new and distinct variety of pear tree (Variety 40) which is useful as a size-controlling clonal pear rootstock. The new variety originated as a single seedling which was selected from a large group of pear seedlings which were grown from open-pollinated seed. This seed was harvested from Old Home pear trees (Pyrus communis) growing in an isolated planting with Farmingdale pollinizers.Pear varieties grown on the understock of this new rootstock clone are approximately 65% of the size of like pear trees grown on Domestic Bartlett seedling rootstocks (Pyrus communis). This "dwarfing" selection can be easily increased by vegetative propagation methods; particularly by hard and softwood cuttings. It is graft-compatible with all major pear varieties. It was selected for its non-rootsuckering habit, its resistance to the Fireblight disease and its tolerance of the Pear Decline disease. It is hardy, early bearing, and has demonstrated good root-anchorage in all orchard sites where tested.
