  • Patent number: 4244335
Abstract: This invention provides for controlling vehicle fuel feed, which may be either carburetion type or fuel injection type, by electro-stress control means with the electro-stress means being oriented in the power flow drive train of the vehicle between the engine and the drive wheels. As more load and torque is placed upon the engine through the drive train the control structure of this invention will automatically increase the input of fuel to the engine in a steady accurate manner. In one embodiment of the invention a diaphragm-type capacitance transducer is utilized, while in the other embodiment a torquemeter device is used. Both embodiments include a rheostat actuated by the accelerator pedal of the vehicle, which leads from the battery of the vehicle to an electric servomotor and solenoid which when activated, connects the leads from the electro-stress means to the servomotor when the accelerator is depressed.

  • Patent number: 4244407
Abstract: A base and an elongated support lever having one end thereof pivotally supported relative to the base for swinging of the support lever in an upstanding plane about an axis elevated relative to the base and for movement of the other free end of the support lever toward and away from a predetermined location on the base. An upright is carried by the base and defines a series of vertically spaced notches thereon and a downwardly facing wedge structure is carried by the free end of the support lever. The base defines support means for supporting an upstanding log section therefrom with the lower end of the log section disposed in the aforementioned predetermined location and an elongated actuating lever having anchor structure on one end is provided and the anchor structure is selectively releasably pivotally receivable in the notches and the actuating lever defines a handle on its end remote from the anchor structure.

  • Patent number: 4243070
Abstract: A back pressure valve employing a spring loaded diaphragm normally closing a discharge port or orifice combined with a push rod extending externally of the valve for coupling with a control actuator with the inner end of the push rod being operatively associated with the diaphragm for using an external control system for varying or regulating the back pressure in a fluid flow line. In one embodiment of the invention, the push rod is engaged directly with the diaphragm assembly, whereas in a second embodiment of the invention, the push rod is engaged with the spring which in turn is engaged with the diaphragm assembly. In both embodiments of the invention, a weak spring is associated with the diaphragm to bias the diaphragm to a closed position to prevent passage of air to a pump intake in the event the system is shutdown with the control actuator and push rod in a position to leave the diaphragm open or to relieve pressure on the heavier main diaphragm spring.

  • Patent number: 4243973
Abstract: A coordinating unit receives an input signal from the ringing circuit of a telephone, a doorbell switch, the timer of a washing machine, or the like. The coordinating unit, through a program muting circuit reduces the volume of televisions, radios, or the like, in the home and signals of the presence of an input signal by ringing a prescribed chime or chimes associated with the particular input signal. Also, a switching feature is incorporated in order that the power may be removed from certain preselected sockets in the home to eliminate noise from machinery such as power tools or vacuum cleaners. Furthermore, an outdoor signaling device can be operated by the coordinating unit for flashing lights and buzzers mounted exteriorly of the house.

  • Patent number: 4241745
Abstract: The shelter is produced of a semi-rigid foldable material and can be rolled up into a compact configuration which is easy to carry. In its erect configuration, the shelter includes a generally conically shaped top covering which is connected to a triangular base. Connected to the base is a partial flooring which extends between two corners of the triangle. The occupant enters below the covering through the open floor section and places his weight on the enclosed floor section. This holds the three corners of the triangle downwardly thus causing the covering of the shelter to maintain its vertical disposition. The weight of the occupant causes the shelter to maintain a conical shape. Internal stake loops are attached at each end of the opening in the floor to allow adjustment of the shelter ground contact to seal the opening.

  • Patent number: 4241470
Abstract: A tool or building construction implement is disclosed for use in constructing brick work, particularly for use by a bricklayer in construction of brick walls, or other brickwork, of conventional bricks and mortar. With use of the present invention, need is eliminated for the usual mortar board and trowel. The mortar trough is semi-cylindrical in shape, containing when filled with mortar the exact amount of mortar required to prepare brick joints cleanly and with savings of mortar otherwise wasted when excessive amounts are applied. The mortar trough requires no handle, and can be used for work in crowded places, such as under an overhang, near walls, and the like. In a first method of use, rotation substantially about a longitudinal axis allows deposition of the mortar contents on the row of bricks to be built up with an additional layer. In a second method of use, the trough can be filled and tilted to permit the mortar contents to flow along the surface to be worked.

  • Patent number: 4242591
Abstract: The engine comprises a generally toroidal cylinder containing a piston having optional permanent magnets or electromagnets disposed thereon. The piston rotates through the cylinder due to a force exerted on it by expanding vapor. A shutter valve extends across the cylinder at one point and the vapor is injected between the shutter valve and the piston thereby forcing the piston to traverse the extent of the cylinder. An exhaust port is disposed such that the piston will pass it toward the completion of one revolution. The expanding vapor is exhausted through this port after which the piston momentum forces it past the shutter valve where a fresh supply of vapor is injected and the cycle repeats itself. Sensors and valving arrangements are supplied for providing optimum timing of the vapor injection. Also coils are disposed about the toroidal surface through which the magnet carrying piston passes for the production of electrical energy.

  • Patent number: 4239488
Abstract: An encapsulated adhesive is disclosed for use in fastening denture plates as well as a method for fastening denture plates by use of the encapsulated adhesive. A capsule which dissolves upon contact with the human skin contains a predetermined quantity of solid adhesive. When denture plates are to be fastened in the mouth of a wearer, a capsule containing the adhesive, preferably a capsule which has been softened in a moisturizing container, is placed between the denture plate and mouth after the plate has been loosely seated in its approximate final position in the oral cavity. When pressure is applied to the dental plate and the capsule is compressed, liquefaction of the capsule causes the adhesive to spread between the denture plate and supporting tissue of the wearer.
