  • Patent number: 6166463
Abstract: The present invention resides in a radial air gap machine with a serrated air gap that can minimize external axial forces. This is accomplished by controlling the relationship between the air gap surfaces in the stator and rotor sections. To control the relationship between the stator sections and the rotor section in a vertical motor a bushing with external and internal thread of opposite hand with the internal thread having a steeper helix angle is twisted into a bearing mount and over a motor shaft. Thus, a vertical hollow shaft motor with magnetic balance thrust is adjusted. In axial air gap machines, the magnetic force produced in the air gaps can also be utilized to compensate for axial loads.

  • Patent number: 5957379
Abstract: A device is mounted between an inlet pipe and a shower head and includes a receptacle for mixing a stream of water with additives. A portion of the stream of water passing from the inlet pipe to the shower head is diverted into the receptacle. The receptacle includes replaceable containers, a first container containing a first additive and a second container containing a second additive. The diverted stream of water mixes with the first additive and the second additive upon contact with the first and second containers. The diverted stream containing additives is then returned to the main stream of water which exits the shower head. The flow of the diverted water to and from the receptacle is controlled by a valve. The present invention provides an improvement over known arrangements by providing additives which are kept separate from one another preventing a chemical reaction between the additives which would cause a loss of potency.

  • Patent number: 5659290
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new and improved universal device for vehicles, especially motor vehicles which measures the speed of the vehicle and continuously displays the speed on a digital readout display located in the vicinity of the dashboard of said vehicle. A separate digital switch integrated into the circuitry of the device is used to pre-set a reference speed to a desired value. As the vehicle's actual speed exceeds this pre-set reference value, a buzzer sounds and/or the speed display flashes off and on to alert the driver that he has exceeded the pre-set speed. When the vehicle speed falls below the pre-set limit, the buzzer and flashing stops and the device acts as a regular digital speedometer. The device is adjustable, thus enabling it to be used on a wide variety of vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5562111
Abstract: Apparatus for hairdressers to use in coloring multiple, localized and isolated strands of hair, called highlighting. The task is made easier and the product better by making dozens of parts in the hair, extracting a few locks or strands along the length of each part, storing these selected strands between sheets of plastic film, and only then applying the color-imparting chemicals. The structure of the cap, by design, makes this procedure easy and straightforward for the first time.
