Abstract: A method (300) for use in a cellular system (100) with a controlling node (110) and user terminals, UEs (130). In the system, UEs can assume one of at least two states, a non-listening state, i.e. a state during which a UE (130) does not listen for data from its controlling node (110), and a listening state, an “on duration” state. According to the method (300) a UE in the system is able to alternate (310) between said two states according to a certain scheme, the scheme according to which a UE in the system alternates between said two states being dependent on whether or not data units which are transmitted between the UE and its controlling node are received entirely and correctly within an initially allocated resource for each data unit.

Abstract: One or more carrier signals in a multiple-carrier UE transmitter are frequency-adjusted to account for an estimated error in the separation frequency between the transmitted carrier signals. The adjustment is applied when generating the UL signals for the respective carrier frequencies in digital baseband of the UE. In one embodiment, one or more of the modulators that apply the carrier separation frequency additionally apply a frequency correction. In another embodiment, first mixers apply the carrier separation frequency to each different carrier signal. One or more carrier signal paths include a second mixer applying a frequency correction to the carrier signal. The RF modulation frequency may also be adjusted to partially compensate for the estimated carrier separation frequency error.
Abstract: A disposable isolation hospital gown is provided having a main body and a pair of sleeves. Integrally formed with the hospital gown is a disposable wrapper that is particularly positioned or placed such that the gown can be rolled or folded into a bundle, after which the disposable wrapper is reversed and in the process of reversing the disposable wrapper, the bundled gown is stuffed or placed into the reversed disposable wrapper for disposal.
Abstract: A base station receives channel quality reports from a plurality of mobile terminals. The channel quality reports from the mobile terminals indicate the signal power of the signals received by the mobile terminals from the base station and one or more interference parameters relating to the power of impairment components contributing to the total impairment of the received signal during a first time interval. The base station computes an estimated channel quality indication for a second time interval subsequent to the first time interval based on expected variations in the powers of the impairment components. The estimated channel quality indication for the second time interval is used by the base station to schedule the mobile terminals and to determine the transmission format.

Abstract: A wireless communication network determines positioning data for a given mobile terminal, in response to receiving a positioning event trigger for that mobile terminal. The network sends the positioning data to the mobile terminal via control-plane signaling, for transfer by the mobile terminal to the user plane. Correspondingly, the mobile terminal receives the positioning data over the control plane, transfers it to the user plane, and transmits the positioning data or location information derived from the positioning data, via user-plane signaling. As such, network-performed positioning measurements and/or geographic coordinate data derived therefrom are transferred from the control plane, to the user plane, for flexible and transparent transmission from the mobile terminal to a given node having a user-plane connection with the mobile terminal. Such a node may be essentially any type of communication device, system, or server, internal or external to the network.

Abstract: A device that detects an effect which distorts a communication signal in a serial communication channel comprises an input, a detector connected to the input, a demultiplexer having a data input connected to the output of the detector, and an evaluator at each output of the demultiplexer. The input receives the distorted communication signal from the communication channel. The detector detects a feature in a symbol of the distorted communication signal and outputs the detected feature. The demultiplexer outputs the detected feature and has a plurality of control inputs. A differently delayed symbol (i?1, 1, i+1) of the communication signal is applied to each input to switch the detected feature present at the input of the demultiplexer to an output of the demultiplexer specified by the symbols present at the control inputs.

The address control signal can be used to control switching elements in the optical interconnection network.
Abstract: According to one aspect of the teachings presented in this document, a wireless communication receiver implements a form of joint detection that is referred to as “fast joint detection” (FJD). A receiver that is specially adapted to carry out FJD processing provides an advantageous approach to joint detection processing wherein the number of computations needed to produce reliable soft bits, for subsequent turbo decoding and/or other processing, is significantly reduced. Further, the algorithms used in the implementation of FJD processing are particularly well suited for parallelization in dedicated signal processing hardware. Thus, while FJD processing is well implemented via programmable digital processors, it also suits applications where high-speed, dedicated signal processing hardware is needed or desired.

Abstract: A radio transceiver included in or attached to an imaging camera is used to facilitate the automatic determination of a scale factor in a three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction. The radio transceiver transmits a radio signal from each of one or more camera positions and measures a reflection profile for the transmitted signal. The measured reflection profile is compared to a simulated reflection profile, generated from a 3D model of the subject/scene of interest, to determine an estimate of an unknown scale for the 3D model. In various embodiments, the radio transceiver may be adapted from a radio device that already exists in or on the imaging camera (e.g., a cellular radio, Bluetooth® radio, or the like) or may be added to an imaging camera.
