  • Patent number: 6442728
Abstract: An interleaver receives incoming data frames of size N. The interleaver indexes the elements of the frame with an N1×N2 index array. The interleaver then effectively rearranges (permutes) the data by permuting the rows of the index array. The interleaver employs the equation I(j,k)=I(j,&agr;jk+&bgr;j)modP) to permute the columns (indexed by k) of each row (indexed by j). P is at least equal to N2, &bgr;j is a constant which may be different for each row, and each &agr;j is a relative prime number relative to P. After permuting, the interleaver outputs the data in a different order than received (e.g., receives sequentially row by row, outputs sequentially each column by column).

  • Patent number: 6389879
Abstract: This invention concerns a method, a device, and an apparatus to detect changes of state in a capillary tube, in particular a gas-chromatographic column or pre-column and to consequently control the conditions under which samples are injected or introduced. The detection is carried out through changes in the temperature of the capillary tube, and/or changes in pressure, or flow rate of the carrier gas. The invention further concerns a method to control gas-chromatography functions by means of a specially designed software, based on the above-mentioned detections on a sample apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6381232
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for improving performance of handoff in a telecommunications system having a plurality of base stations and a mobile unit in handoff communication (uplink only or in both uplink and downlink) with at least two of the base stations over at least first and second respective communications links. The first and second communications links each comprise at least one base station transceiver subsystem (BTS), at least one radio connection controller (RCC), at least one mobile switching center (MSC), and at least one transcoder or data server. The RCC checks whether a given information frame from any of the BTSs is valid. If one or more information frames is valid, then the RCC forwards a valid frame to the transcoder or a data server. If none of the received frames is valid, the RCC then decodes a R=1/n code constructed from data received from the BTSs and checks whether the decoded information frame is valid using a checksum or CRC transmitted with the information frame.

  • Patent number: 6379119
Abstract: A system that includes a pump driven by a variable speed electric motor, the pump being directly connected to a hydraulic actuator by an open hydraulic circuit. This setup allows using one motor pump combination to drive any number of axes sequentially. The main advantages are significant energy savings but also higher control quality achieved by the substitution of control valves. Power control is dedicated to electronic power transistors while hydraulics are used for power transmission. For two and four quadrant operation, a hydraulic accumulator is proposed exerting a spring load on the hydraulic actuator. This allows for driving and braking the actuator and the associated machine axis in both directions of motion while the hydraulic pressure is always applied to the same port of the pump. The other pump port can be connected to tank.

  • Patent number: 6366319
Abstract: Improved methods and apparatus for digital focal plane array (FPA)—based color imaging include the step of sampling an image, using an FPA camera equipped with a color filter array (CFA) to obtain a value at each pixel position, thereby creating a set of values sampled on a per-pixel basis. Single-color cyan, yellow and white (CYW) color planes are generated from the set of sampled pixel values. Interpolates among and between the color plane values is executed to “fill in” the “gaps” in the individual color planes, and the interpolated CYW values from the single-color planes are transformed into RGB values which can be stored, transmitted, or utilized to drive a conventional video monitor or color printing device. Filtering and other post-interpolation steps are executed to reduce color aliasing, and the white plane is used to introduce high frequency content back into the filtered color image.

  • Patent number: 6357277
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the realignment of peaks in gas chromatographic analyses after the replacement of the used capillary column with a nominally equal one, wherein a K coefficient characteristic of the column is preventively calculated by flowing carrier gas in the column under stabilized conditions of pressure and flow rate and of the column temperature, said K coefficient being stored in a memory of the gas chromatographic system. Said K coefficient is used to correlate at least two of the above mentioned parameters in subsequent analyses, obtaining an automatic realignment of peaks. The invention also concerns the analytical equipment to perform the method, and the capillary gas chromatographic column characterized as reported above.
